Professional :: Find Link To External File?

I have purchased an image gallery program that works fine but I am struggling to make a very minor modification. I have asked the author for assistance but previous requests have met with no response so I am also asking my question here. This program has most of its logic in an external AS2 file. I have made some small changes to this file and want to save it under a new name. However, that would also require me to change the reference to the external AS2 file from within the fla file. That's where my problem lies. I can't find any code in the fla that contains such a reference.
If I try to publish an swf without this file in the required location it causes a compiler error thus proving that there must be a reference somewhere to that file. However, doing a search for this AS2 file in the 'current document' when viewing the fla file in Flash CS4 produces no results. Where else could this reference be hidden?

I installed a Flash template that has a "Read More" button which is used in several locations of the site. The button corresponds to a single symbol called "button_more" and another symbol within that symbol called "area_more". It's a "Movie Clip" type of symbol, not a "Button" type symbol.
What I'm trying to figure out is where would I find the link to the page where that button points to - it points to different pages of the site depending on where it's located. For example, in the About Us section it links to a page that has more details describing About Us. In the Services section it links to a page that has more details describing Services. So the same symbol is going to different links.
I checked the Properties of the symbol and it doesn't have any option for a link. (I guess it's not really going to a link, but to a different frame in the timeline) But where would I find exactly where each button points to in case I want to edit one of them in the future, or create a new button with a new link?

I've re done a couple of pages on my website and as a result of the new design have had to change some of the coding from being on the timeline to being in an external as document linked to my fla. This is significant only because I can link to external pdf.zips no problem on the timeline but I can't seem to translate the code to the external file. Can anyone out there help me out with this (hopefully) simply problem?I'm playing with different variations of this below but I'm constantly getting the 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method navigateToURL.

I have loaded in an external swf file and it works fine.
However, when I get the width dimensions of the movieclip that is housing the external swf file it gives me a '0' for the width.

I'm updating a Flash program that has 3 different txt containing code. The FLA has different parts in the program that calls upon these file, but when I try to export to SWF to test the program, I get a compiler error, saying those files can't be found.
All of the files have been transferred from another computer, so I don't know some directory extension is broken, but the script that refers to the text files, doesn't include a directory address, just the name of the respective file it's calling on.

I am working with a cms tool, and I can't get my swf to find my external css file. Is there anyway I can embed the css in the swf without calling an external file? This is what my action script looks like, and it works from my desktop, but everytime I bring the swf into the cms tool, it doesn't work.

Yesterday I was working in an exhaustive animation when the computer turned off. When I turned the PC on again there was a message about a recovery file. I opened the recovery file: it was the animation I was working with. I finished my work and closed the recovery file. Today I was looking for the file I was working with and I can't find it: Flash gives me just the original file not the recovery file.

I am trying to build a .xml image scroller using the scroll pane component in CS4.I choose Actionscript3. Drag the component to the stage. Give it an instance name.Then I look for the Parameters that used to be in the properties panel in CS3. Not there anymore.I find that the Components Inspector has Parameters in there now.OK.I need to use ContentPath to tell the component where the .xml file is so it can find the images for the scroller.Can't find 'ContentPath'.How can I point the component to a .xml file?Is there a way of getting Parameters back in with properties - it was so much easier.

I purchased a TM AS2 Flash 8 / XML Template. I'm trying to figure out how to create a text link inside my XML content that can link back into the flash movie to a specific MOVIE/FRAME.
I've found where a XML text link can trigger a function (<a href="asfunction:_root.more_click_func,0">), but I can't seem to figure out how to simply go to a specific frame in the flash. I would think that this would be easy. ??? I don't need to do anything dynamic, except load the link exactly as presented in the XML file.

I have a small issue in ActionScript 2.0. I want to know the stage width and height for external SWF file. I used the following code:

Does any know how to load a XML into a Flash file using FlashVar?
I have these lines that load my XML data from a folder called XML

I would like to use FlashVar to enter the "xml/TEST.xml"; portion so I can keep reusing the SWF file and only have to enter a FlashVar in the HTML to point to the data. I have some users that are not Flash programmers and it would be easy for them to past the HTML and only have to change the FlashVar line to point to their XML file, as opposed to having to get me to hardcode it everytime.

How do I link from one specific frame in one swf file to another specific frame in another swf file?It should be something like...

I have a dynamic textfield called neighName on my Flash stage. I also have a movieclip that I call a region on my stage. When I mouseover the region, I want a word to display in a little popup *and* I want some text to display in my textfield. I have an external .as file for handling the region. I can make the code "see" my region, but I can't seem to make it see my textfield, although no errors are being thrown.

I managed to load in an external swf file okay however, I need to be able to remove it when the user clicks a link to go back to the homepage. Below is my code:

I see that the background music in my Flash site is located in a symbol called muz When I click the properties of this symbol, the sound file's location is listed as.flashsoundmuz.wav I couldn't find that sound sub-folder in the flash folder nor could I find the file. I tried doing a search to look for the muz.wav file in my computer but it could not be found. Does anyone know how I can find and save this file?

I made a simple website with a flash menu, that opens internal links in an iframe. However, I have a few other (not included in the menu) external links, which open in the same iframe. And after I click on one of them and it loads in the iframe, the buttons on the menu stop working. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the internet explorer, since it works on some computers. But I'm not sure... not very good at this.

I have created a Flash banner ad for our company that is to be hosted on another website. This banner ad needs to have a link added to it, within the Flash file. This link will take users straight to our website but is also for the purpose of tracking.How do I go about adding the URL? Trying to set up a getURL to link to a local htm file, NOT a page on the internet. All the tutorials I have read tell me how to link to a file on the internet I'm trying to set up an intranet site for my training college where students can access training resources etc on the local network. Therefore my getURL needs to point to a local file, not one on the internet. I'm trying to link to a .htm file that resides on my computer. Does the htm file have to be in the same folder as the .fla file?? How do I do this?? I'm working on a Mac, Os X, MX 2004, if that makes any difference.

Here im try to do just like a Scorm. Now im troubles, I need to find a user's visited links.I tried bt i failed. i used attachMovie(). If i attach the clip then i couldnt remove that clip even i used removeMovieClip() and unloadMovie().And my another doubt is: Can i calculate the Loaded swf's content length, Because i want to add the sliders like a windows media player. So that user can drag the slider to forward that current swf on the screen.
