Is there a way to add a link/URL to a .swf file, without embedding into the original .fla file?Is there any way to do that with just the .swf file alone, and without actually editing the .fla or re-creating it?
I have created a Flash banner ad for our company that is to be hosted on another website. This banner ad needs to have a link added to it, within the Flash file. This link will take users straight to our website but is also for the purpose of tracking. How do I go about adding the URL? I have searched through these forums but cannot get it to work.I am using Flash CS4 (selected to use AS 3 when I first created the file.)
From what I have read and understood, I should create a new layer, and then add the code to the first frame on that layer?Exactly what code should I use? I tried something as simple as 'getURL("http://www.celonova.com","_self"); ' but that is not working. Is it bcos that is for AS 2 only? My last question is...can I set up the link so that it works for ALL frames?
I wonder if we can use XML to link into certain section of a SWF file?I have purchased a carousel which is composed mainly by AS3 and XML, it contains of 6 images linking to 6 different section of a swf file. From where should I modify to add-in the sub-button onto the carousel image? How should I modify the XML when I click on the sub-button, it will link into certain section of a swf file?
I have purchased an image gallery program that works fine but I am struggling to make a very minor modification. I have asked the author for assistance but previous requests have met with no response so I am also asking my question here. This program has most of its logic in an external AS2 file. I have made some small changes to this file and want to save it under a new name. However, that would also require me to change the reference to the external AS2 file from within the fla file. That's where my problem lies. I can't find any code in the fla that contains such a reference.
If I try to publish an swf without this file in the required location it causes a compiler error thus proving that there must be a reference somewhere to that file. However, doing a search for this AS2 file in the 'current document' when viewing the fla file in Flash CS4 produces no results. Where else could this reference be hidden?
Trying to set up a getURL to link to a local htm file, NOT a page on the internet. All the tutorials I have read tell me how to link to a file on the internet I'm trying to set up an intranet site for my training college where students can access training resources etc on the local network. Therefore my getURL needs to point to a local file, not one on the internet. I'm trying to link to a .htm file that resides on my computer. Does the htm file have to be in the same folder as the .fla file?? How do I do this?? I'm working on a Mac, Os X, MX 2004, if that makes any difference.
How do I link the pictures in the attached file to different websites. Example, when image 1 appears, I want users to be able to click on it to take them to story 1. Then when picture 2 appears, users can click on it to go to story 2, etc.
I have a flash file on the homepage of my client's website. When you click "Enter", the new page opens in a new tab. I want it all to stay in the same tab. If you would like to view the entire code yourself to identify how I could solve this issue, the site is: [URL]- but if not then I will paste the code of the flash object below:
i have created a flash animation for my homepage, i want to make part of that flash animation a "enter" button so when clicked would go to my page 2 on my website.
i have never done any script before and only used dreamweaver on a mac. is there an easy way to create this button to link to my next page and to stop my file to stop looping?
I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:
So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.
So I'll be honest, I am very new to Flash. I have CS5.5 and I am trying to animate some images that I made in Photoshop in Flash. I would like to use tools such as the Bone tool on them but I have gotten almost every error feedback such as "cannot be applied to stroke" and "cannot link bitmap" and "cannot link group objects". I have been messing around with it quite a bit. My file is .swf and I do ungroup it but now when I use the bone tool on it, the entire image turns white.
Previously I have had problems where the picture would not disappear but my drawing would move back a bit and I could only see it through the movable window given by the bone tool in the shape of my picture. Another problem was when I used the Bone tool, the image would split into four flipped sections and not stay together. I assume this had to do with when I tried to "break apart" my image, but something similar happened on an unbroken non-bitmap image.
lets say if a.swf have 3 scenes in it, (scene1, scene2, scene3), and i 1 2 link b.swf back to the 'scene3, frame1' of a.swf, what will the AS be?i tried using this:
I purchased a Flash template. I know I need to edit the .FLA file, but yikes. Layers and layers. How do I link the existing buttos in the FLA file to other URL's in the site--like "home", "contact us", etc. pages? I have a Lynda subscription, but trying to find a specific topic in those tutorials is a pain.
I have 6 different .fla files with their own SFW file's and how to link them I also have a main.fla that holds all my stuff like my buttons, logo, banner ect. This is the only code I have and I get no errors but when I click on a certain button it wont go to that certain SWF file?
I'm extending senocular's excellent xml/gallery tutorial to include a URL link with each image. I've created a button object but can't figure out how to add the link from the XML file?

I am trying to link a different URL to each of my files in XML and use this XML in Flash were I created a carousel. In the carousel, when you click on a picture I would like to insert a specific URL. Each picture will have a different URL (http://------------).Here are my codes:
I have a simple button and in the "down" frame of the button I'm pasting a url Link under the options in the properties tab. For Target I selected _blank. This doesn't work for me. This was my second option after my first didn't work either. Its a really simple file and I can't figure out why it won't work. I am using Flash CS4.

I need to have a link at the end of a video so the viewer can click on it and go to a survey page.
We need the viewer to watch the entire video so it has to be at the end. I'm not an AS expert but I have the Master collection so whever software it takes I should have.Video was done in Premiere exported through media encoder and I have used either Flash to make a custom player or Dreamweaver to embed in a web page. The video plays fine but no link.
Just finishing something out and have an XML file that loads info into a Flash file that I'm looking to have a link in. I'm honestly generally pretty much straight up HTML and CSS when it comes to web stuff, but XML seemed to be the way to go in this situation. Just curious how to add a link into the content area here[code]...
I'm a completely noob but I'm currently working on an animated skype-button.I inserted the button successfully on my website. Now I'd like to attach the following command in AS3 to my movieclip when someone clicks on it [code]...
