ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Duplication Of Buttons?

I am looking to create a simple piece of code that will duplicate a drawn square many times (say 10 times).I would like it so that when you hover a square it will change colour.o far i have been able to draw the square multiple times within a sprite, however i need the sprite to be more interactive.
I'm using robot legs framework and wondering how mediator.mapView works with multiple instances of the same view. For example, in the following, is a new ItemDisplayMediator created for every ItemDisplay instantiated, or do all ItemDisplay's use the same mediator? If they each instantiate a new mediator, is it possible to use a single mediator for multiples of the same class/view?mediatorMap.mapView(ItemDisplay, ItemDisplayMediator);
I'm working on a flash AS2 game that duplicates two movie clips: A bullet and a shell. Individually, the run fine. The bullets shoot, the shells bounce around. But when I try to use them together, only one of them duplicates. If I use more than one duplication statement in my game, only one functions and the others are ignored.
how to delay the duplication of a video. At the moment, I have a video loaded from a stream (NetStream), and then I duplicate that video using Bitmap/BitmapData draw() to make a grid of 3x3 of the same video.
Up to that point everythings works fine, but all of the nine videos are synced and I do not want that, I want the first one to start at frame 1, second at frame 2, third frame 3 or the opposite.
In other words, I want to have every video on a different frame. The problem I see is that since I just copy the BitmapData of every frame to duplicate it in real-time (ENTER_FRAME) I really can't see how I could do it.
I could make different streams for each videos, but when I tried it, it took a lot more time to load.
Should I maybe not use streams, but I don't know how to do that, like if the video would be in the library and placed 9 times on the scene, but I don't know how to do that with AS3. I have 3 different videos loaded from an XML file.
I have an MC of a sea texture which was created using clouds in Photoshop, and uses AS to fade in & out a child MC to look like waves moving back & forth. (The PS image fades to transparent where its close to each side to aid blending).
The user is able to pan the containing MC infinitely so I need some way of automatically overlapping a new instance when the pan gets close to the edges of the MC, but because its a large MC needs to also remove the MCs greater than distance x from the edges.
Im making my first flash game so forgive me if there is anything with my actionscript or my explaining that is messed up.
This game is a 4 player (<--will be) tank game that fires bullets and stuff. so far its working just how i want it to apart from one thing... the duplication for the bullet. This snippet of the script is the bit that should make the bullet firing. if you look at these to bits of script "_root.depth += 1;", "duplicateMovieClip(_root.bullet, "bullet"+depth, depth);" to my understanding the "depth" should increase BUT it doesn't? does anyone know what is going on?
I have a textbox for input . and a button for duplication of the instance.
my instance is a simple box.in the box movie symbol i have another textbox.
when i click the button, my instance gets duplicated. but i want the value in the input textbox to be copied to another texbox which is in the box object. how do i do that?

I am working on dynamic duplication of movieclip when the button is pressed one by one. In that movieclip there are two buttons ok and cancel.

The question arose as to duplicate the data entered in the field in InputText in DynamicText (ie when typing in the box, Input, his data displayed in the dynamic field)
I'm designing a data entry app that allows multiple entries to its subject. For example, a person might have received education from multiple institutions. Each educational entry is a form and app user can click on a button to add another entry, which is a blank but identical form.I figure it involves states and custom form components but not sure how everything fits together.
I'm having problems with the flash buttons on the flash website i made for a client. or some reason the buttons in the top and bottom menu work on some people's computers but on some they don't. I don't know what to do, i had this code for all the buttons,

and they worked on my computer but on others the buttons didn't work at all so i added this code to each button also
I am making a banner with an animation (Image change into movie clip "3D Spiral") and added buttons but I cannot get the buttons to control the animation.
I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?
I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function
I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0
I am having trouble with a job I am doing at the moment which has an mc with buttons within it. I want it so that when I roll over the mc it tweens from a small version to a larger version, and on this mc there are some buttons. At the moment I can get the mc to move but the buttons remain inactive and also the rollover states on the buttons don't work. I have attached a simpler version of what I am trying to do to this post.
I'm working on a site and I have 2 movieClips/buttons that I would like to use as use as next frame/ previous frame triggers respectively. Is there a way to set the buttons up once and then access the functionality from the various levels of the site? Note that the prev/next buttons will not always be on the stage.
I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?
im working on a zoom/pan gallery and i have a problem that i can't solve.URL...the pan buttons are not working but the zoom and reset buttons works. im working on movie the image using the mouse now, if you will hold the image and move it it will drag it on stage.the image is a loader the loads and image and placed on screen.there is a mask on top of it and a frame that indicates the size of the gallery.when the user pan the image loader content i want it to stop as soon as it gets to the gallery frame,but i cant seem to find the best way to do it.so basicly when the image is in 100% i dont want the user to be able to drag it but after you zoom the user will be able to drag it but only to the edge of the frame so there wont be any white spaces.i tried a lot of different ways to do it but all of them are complicated and not working the way that i want them to work.
I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.

I have 4 buttons , one container and one background movieClip as the attached file shows. Well.. at the Gallery movieclip displayList I add the other three BLACK buttons like this:

Everything I need consist on swap the buttons when i CLICK or ROLL_OVER those buttons, how do I do on thats circunstance? With a container and a background at the same displaylist.
I'm creating a menu system, the text buttons should, on rollover, move all buttons to the left (of the button currently rolled over) 100 pixels, in the gap created a sub menu running vertically will appear which will break into a 2nd horizontal submenu etc. I'm still in the early stages, and have hit a stumbling block, I placed a trace (this); cmd in root of the roll over function then again in each segement of the IF/ELSE loop inside that fuction. The trace CMD in the root of the rollover gives me the feed back _level0.btn1 or 2 or what ever button I have rolled over but the ones inside the IF/ELSE loop all say _level0.btn0 regardless of the button I roll over!
I have three buttons and when I click the second one, the first stops working (e.g. no trace event and it won't go back to the frame "tab1") but the third still works. Then when I press the third button both the first and second no longer work. If I take out the gotoAndStop lines, the buttons work fine. The subsequent frames simply have stops on them.

-Alright so I have made a next, and a prev button. That navigate the timeline inside an mc "tabs_mc." This mc ison the the main stage.-When the next and prev buttons are pressed they goto 1 of 4 frame labels on this timeline inside tabs_mc.-When one of these lables is reached an mc "thumbs" appears on the screen / stage.-These mc's "thumbs1, thumbs2, thumbs3, and thumbs4" contain buttons that SHOULD be clickable.-But are not after the prev, and next buttons are press. They are before the next, and prev button are press, but not after.
way this is or even better how to keep these buttons enabled after the next, prev buttons are clicked?I thought of making some sort of boolean to tell the each button that is needs to stay "true" after prev, and next are pressed.But I'm a beginner so I don't know where to start.Heres the next, and prev button code:

Good day to everyone. I'm here today to seek help about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. The story starts when one day, my boss asked me to make a flash presentation about their upcoming user training for a newly developed software. I was enthusiastic and excited about it because it's been a long time that I did not use Flash (note that I don't have any experience in ActionScript 3.0). At first, everything was a bit rough as I need to recall how to properly use the frames to create a successful animation. As I was about to finish the project, my boss approached me again and asked if I could insert a menu page in front so that the users won't have to replay the whole thing again just to look for a little something on that part of the movie. So yea, at first I was abit hesitant to accept. I said that it will work with Powerpoint. But she's a total pusher and I was forced to say yes. Now I'm having this problem about how to make a flash button load a swf movie.I've tried searching all over the net for tutorials but most of the times the "getUrl" and other stuff are said to be outdated.
I'm setting up a website and im using flash as a menu, but my problem is when I click on a button to go to a new page it redownloads the flash files, not just the menu but also my flash banner.
This only happens the very 1st time i click on the menu but its still very annoying having to wait for it to redownload again when it should already be there saved.
The problem does not happen if I use the html links on the page just the geturl links from flash.
I am trying to get the flash buttons for my website to work, but every time I do the getURL thing it keeps saying 'Cannot find(directory)'. The website is offline and I'm using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, I also might be able to use Flash 8 but these are the only two versions I have access to.The action script for the button is:
Recently I am feeling like an idiot in Flash with buttons! I think perhaps I am forgetting something about the up, over, down, and hit states. What I am trying to do is to have the button color change to a different color when it is on the page. The color only changes when I roll over it or hit it. Once I am on the page it changes back to the color it is on the up state.
