Flash :: Duplication Of Mediators In Robotlegs MVCS

I'm using robot legs framework and wondering how mediator.mapView works with multiple instances of the same view. For example, in the following, is a new ItemDisplayMediator created for every ItemDisplay instantiated, or do all ItemDisplay's use the same mediator? If they each instantiate a new mediator, is it possible to use a single mediator for multiples of the same class/view?mediatorMap.mapView(ItemDisplay, ItemDisplayMediator);

I'm making an app with flash AS3 and puremvc, the way to correctly handle view mediators is sort of throwing me a little...I have 3 or 4 distinct views, each governed by it's own mediator.Each view is only displayed on its own - ie. when 1 is visible/on stage - the others are invisible/removed from stage (over simplified, but I guess could be thought of as seperate pages, viewed one at a time, a nav bar allows a user to change views when they like)
At first each view mediator I had creating and added to stage it's own view component, and as such, when it was 'turn' to show or hide that view, it was simple - addChild and removeChild for it's view component.However, I read over at puremvc.org that it's not good practice to
a. pass round the stage (which was the viewComponent for each mediator in my case - where each view was added to - eg. viewComponent.addChild(foo)
b. create its own view - which allowed me to add and remove it in the first place.
So I changed to the recommended way - when I create each mediator, what I pass in is the view component it governs (rather than the stage/main doc class eg.

facade.registerMediator( new MyViewMediator( view ) );
viewComponent.addChild(view);
with that the case - I have no idea how I would go about removing/adding each view when needed.I could easily enough set the visibility from within each mediator, but I sort of wanted to avoid doing that - prefer removing when not in use for resource management...how I am 'meant' to go about this (as in, when a view is no longer needed on stage, remove it - temporarily, and add it later on when it is needed?)

I am looking to create a simple piece of code that will duplicate a drawn square many times (say 10 times).I would like it so that when you hover a square it will change colour.o far i have been able to draw the square multiple times within a sprite, however i need the sprite to be more interactive.

I want to incorporate a commandlist into robotlegs, the way i've done it now is to have a commandlist actor funnel out all the commands when not busy, but when the commands are executed robotlegs loses its' reference to the 'contextView'. Meaning i'm doing somehting wrong.

I'm trying to mediate the main application class ( the 'Document class' of a Flash *.fla project)I have this on the Application Context startup():

mediatorMap.mapView(MyApplication,MyApplicationMediator);
mediatorMap.createMediator(contextView);
The MyApplicationMediator:

So onRegister() gets called, but view is null. Also when I try to add the eventListeners I get a null reference error.

I have a problem with an application that uses RobotLegs in a Flex module. I finally managed to load my module successfully, but when I try to add this line of code in the module view's Mediator:view.addElementAt(applicationContainer,0);
I get this error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

As part of the learning PureMVC I've created this example (sources). And I must say that I'm quite disappointment about PureMVC.Here's things that I don't like:
1. Getting references to proxies/mediators by global string.

What's the point in this? In that case why just don't create bunch of references in static public variables in some main class (ApplicationFacade.someProxy)? And after all, what if I want to have dynamic number of proxy/mediator class instances? Ones removed, another ones is created in running time.
2. "The events (notifications) from nowhere, handled by anyone" Let's say I have at my app five models of clocks. And I have also five corresponding views of clocks. With every thick of every clock model, one of clocks views should be updated.In normal approach there's just created control class which create view and model instances, and make decisions if there's any events from them.In PureMVC looks like there's only "global events" - ApplicationFacade.SOME_EVENT so if I want to do my 5 clocks I will have to:
- create notfication id: ApplicationFacade.CLOCK_TICK
- broadcast about it. But I will have to also pass the reference from what clock model it's:

The question is - from where that command class will know *which* clock view it is? And why this must be so complicated? Updating all clocks with every tick event is not the answer.

Or only "first level" models "deserve" for proxy?What if SubSubModel visual representation is so complicated that it should have dedicated view. How that view will get reference to that "deep-level" model? How they communicate?

I'm working on a flash AS2 game that duplicates two movie clips: A bullet and a shell. Individually, the run fine. The bullets shoot, the shells bounce around. But when I try to use them together, only one of them duplicates. If I use more than one duplication statement in my game, only one functions and the others are ignored.

how to delay the duplication of a video. At the moment, I have a video loaded from a stream (NetStream), and then I duplicate that video using Bitmap/BitmapData draw() to make a grid of 3x3 of the same video.
Up to that point everythings works fine, but all of the nine videos are synced and I do not want that, I want the first one to start at frame 1, second at frame 2, third frame 3 or the opposite.
In other words, I want to have every video on a different frame. The problem I see is that since I just copy the BitmapData of every frame to duplicate it in real-time (ENTER_FRAME) I really can't see how I could do it.
I could make different streams for each videos, but when I tried it, it took a lot more time to load.
Should I maybe not use streams, but I don't know how to do that, like if the video would be in the library and placed 9 times on the scene, but I don't know how to do that with AS3. I have 3 different videos loaded from an XML file.

I have an MC of a sea texture which was created using clouds in Photoshop, and uses AS to fade in & out a child MC to look like waves moving back & forth. (The PS image fades to transparent where its close to each side to aid blending).
The user is able to pan the containing MC infinitely so I need some way of automatically overlapping a new instance when the pan gets close to the edges of the MC, but because its a large MC needs to also remove the MCs greater than distance x from the edges.

Im making my first flash game so forgive me if there is anything with my actionscript or my explaining that is messed up.
This game is a 4 player (<--will be) tank game that fires bullets and stuff. so far its working just how i want it to apart from one thing... the duplication for the bullet. This snippet of the script is the bit that should make the bullet firing. if you look at these to bits of script "_root.depth += 1;", "duplicateMovieClip(_root.bullet, "bullet"+depth, depth);" to my understanding the "depth" should increase BUT it doesn't? does anyone know what is going on?

I recently started working with RobotLegs and AS3Signals on a project just to get some experience with these new frameworks. I wanted to add deep linking support, so I reached for my trusty friend SWFAddress. I felt bad about adding Event listeners in my nice clean RobotLegs + SignalCommandMap + AS3Signals project, so I modified the SWFAddress.as class that came with the examples to use AS3Signals instead of normal Events.

I have a textbox for input . and a button for duplication of the instance.
my instance is a simple box.in the box movie symbol i have another textbox.
when i click the button, my instance gets duplicated. but i want the value in the input textbox to be copied to another texbox which is in the box object. how do i do that?

I've just recently learned the PureMVC framework, and am a little confused as to the coupling between Proxy and Mediator objects. The links on this page connect to some documents describing the framework. (Please note, the links on the aforementioned page open PDFs.)
The diagrams and examples of PureMVC I've examined often show a direct coupling between a Mediator and Proxy. When the proxy's state is updated, rather than sending a new Notification, the Mediator (which retrieves a reference to the Proxy from the Facade) has its state updated.
This certainly seems to simplify the logic of the code, but it also directly couples two seemingly disparate components together. To my understanding, a Mediator's purpose is to translate Events from a view into PureMVC Notifications. Proxies are meant to perform some function to gather data and relay it back to the view. These two components seem to exist in different layers of the application, and perhaps shouldn't necessarily be coupled together.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have the Proxy objects send their own Notifications when their state updates, which are forwarded to the interested Mediator by the Facade?

Is model injection on the fly possible? In other words,if I ask for a model of the type IPhotoModel, I should get one of its implementations based on the current state of the view. I'm working on an existing modular project that was built in PureMVC. Instead of converting everything over to RobotLegs, I want to create a new module using RobotLegs and plug it into the pureMVC shell. Currently, when the module loads, I get the following flash error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable IMediatorMap is not defined.
Inititally, I thought it was because my module needed a pureMVC Mediator to call the pureMVC StartupCommand to get things "hooked up" and THEN create the RobotLegs' Context. However, that didn't work and I'm still getting the error.

I'm using robot legs, I've got a bunch of ServiceResponses that extends a base class and have a dependency on a Parser, IParser. I need to wire in a parser specific to the subclass. Here's an example: ModuleConfigResponse extends SimpleServiceResponse and implements IServiceResponse.
The initial part is easy to wire in the context, here's an example:
injector.mapClass(IServiceResponse, ModuleConfigResponse);
injector.mapClass(IServiceResponse, SimpleServiceResponse, "roomconfig");
..etc
Each Response uses a parser that is used by the baseclass:
injector.mapValue(IParser, ModuleConfigParser, "moduleconfig");
injector.mapValue(IParser, RoomConfigParser, "roomconfig");
The question is how to tie these together. The base class could have:

public var parser : IParser
But I can't define the type ahead of time. Im wondering if there a nice way of wiring this in the context. For the moment I've decided to wire this up by instanciating responses in a ResponseFactory instead so that I pay pass the parser manually in the constructor.

I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?

I can not open flash cs3 on my laptop with flash mx2004 also can actionscript 3.0 be used with flash mx2004 and flash 8 because when I save my flash cs3 document as a flash 8 document it does not work? Are there any programs or features in flash that can simplify flash vector art?
I just realized that one of the reasons why my program might be running so slow is that I made the images out of lots and lots of circles. When things didn't look right I often just put larger circles over smaller ones. I didn't think that flash might still be drawing the invisible circles underneath-

We've got a green screened video playing in a flash movie over top of our html content.when the movie ends, flash uses external interface .api to call a javascript function which swaps the flash movie out with a 5 x 5 pixel flash movie (rewrites the <div>).this works and you can interact with the html content after the flash movie in all browsers except firefox.anyone know of any work-arounds or is there a better way of handling flash over html in this fashion?
