I am planning to start a new project in as3 and I want Dependency Injection in the project. I found that parsley and Robotlegs are two popular frameworks for implementing DI in AS3. Which is the best one among these two?
My main requirements are
lightweight
minimal learning
extensive documentation and active helping community
I want to use the Parsley framework and I want to use GraniteDS for remoting. As of 2.1, GraniteDS generates AS3 service classes from your Java code as local proxies, and I want to use these classes in Parsley.[code]...
Is model injection on the fly possible? In other words,if I ask for a model of the type IPhotoModel, I should get one of its implementations based on the current state of the view. If I am looking at a UserPage,I should get a user-specific implementation of that model.I am looking at a LocationPage,I should get a location-specific implementation.Currently, the only way that I see is introducing a command that specifies the model mapping, with a concrete one based on the current view state ...
injector.mapValue(IPhotoViewModel, injector.getInstance(UserPhotoViewModel)) or injector.mapValue(IPhotoViewModel, injector.getInstance(LocationPhotoViewModel))
is this the best way possible? I do not really want to introduce much coupling logic outside of the context, but ...
I needed some guidance on how to use FlexUnit 4 within Flash Builder,to unit test a Parsley-frameworked Flex application.I have tried lookign at one or two sites but with no avail.
I'm looking for examples of command chaining in Parsley. What I mean by command chaining is when one command returns a result that is then immediately used to initiate another command. I ask this question here because the parsley forums have been down for 2 days.
i'm looking for a possibility to log messages in my flex 4.5 Project. This should cover errormessages in remoteClasses, errorHandler or messages typing by hand. After reading a lot of webpages, the solution from parslay looks good. i want to switch to this framework anyway. the benefit is the possibility to configure the logging behavior at runtime. but i don't understand the documentation. perhaps because I'm brandnew in parsley. Also google has no fitting result.
I am trying to use parsley framework in my flex application. Messaging System is one of the best feature that I see while using parsley, But I had a doubt, Does using Parsley framework in your application means that
I'm starting with Parsley and cannot manage to make the autowire working. My configuration is based on flex 4.5 and parsley 3.0.0. My application contains the folowing bootrap :
[code]....
The workaround is quite heavy as it requires adding in all my views the proprietary tags. what is wrong with my configuration?
I'm working on an existing modular project that was built in PureMVC. Instead of converting everything over to RobotLegs, I want to create a new module using RobotLegs and plug it into the pureMVC shell. Currently, when the module loads, I get the following flash error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable IMediatorMap is not defined.
Inititally, I thought it was because my module needed a pureMVC Mediator to call the pureMVC StartupCommand to get things "hooked up" and THEN create the RobotLegs' Context. However, that didn't work and I'm still getting the error.
My company is willing to reffactor its biggest and heaviest project introducing some kind of framework. Are there good online source/issue/blogpost with comparison of these 3 frameworks - Robotlegs, Swiz and Mate?
the applicable differences between an ArrayCollection and a Vector in flex? I'm unsure if I should be using one over the other. I saw that Vector is type safe and that makes me feel better, but are there disadvantages?
public var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); versus public var vec:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>();
I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?
For developing simple games with the Flex SDK, what are the consequences of using a Canvas object, versus a UIComponent object, as a drawing surface? Are there performance issues with either one? Are the methods generally the same? Searching around, it seems that most sample code I've found uses UIComponent. Is this just customary, or are there reasons?
I already know one odd difference - I had developed a simple Pong game using:
public class MyGameCanvas extends UIComponent
and then decided to replace UIComponent with Canvas. This caused the line to fail:
[Code]...
However, I have to confirm something, being new to Flex and the various terminology. I'm presuming that people mean I should not be using MXML for games, when they said Flex SDK. Since I thought the Flex SDK was what provided the compiler that generates .swf files. Otherwise, where/how would I even compile AS3?
Assuming that's the case, then my question would be about the suitability of using both MXML and AS3 for (simple) games. Based on what I've read about both, it seemed like the intended use of them was MXML for the interface elements, and AS3 for everything else. Is the overhead that bad for MXML?
If I compile this[URL]in WonderFl it works great in both my browser and on my desktop.However, when trying to do it in Flex - Line for line - it runs very badly struggling to get 5fps.This doesn't make any sense, WonderFL uses the flex engine to compile so why does my SDK suck? I'm doing this on OS X as well by the way.. if that makes any difference?
Inspired by this Flex question, is it seen as better practice to dispatch an event back to the parent app, as opposed to calling a method on the instance of the parent app, from within a module? To me it seems that the module shouldn't know what methods are available at the parent, as such approach leads to tight coupling.
I'm using deeplinking in a Flex 3 application. I've got a ViewStack and I'd like to use the id's of the canvases in the url. I've read that search engines prefer hyphens over underscores as word separators. So, the search engine sees "big-book" as a separate word, but "big_book" as possibly one word. Also, underscores are obscured when a link is underlined. For the above reasons, I thought that it would be good to use hyphens. The problem is that Flex doesn't allow hyphens in an id.
I am writing an application in Flash Builder 4.5. I am also writing a PHP Web service to access data from our MySQL database. This Web service will be made available to third party clients for them to develop applications to access our database as well, via SOAP.
Is there a big performance difference between connecting to the service in Flash Builder via connecting directly to the PHP file vs. connecting to a Web Service via SOAP?I would kind of like to connect to this service the same way that our clients will, to make sure things stay as uncomplicated as possible for future development, but performance is my main priority.
Is there a performance and/or memory usage difference between these two scenarios? Scenario 1: N visual elements all added to stage; N-1 have visible = false, 1 has visible = true; Scenario 2: N visual elements, only 1 added to the stage at any time.
I want to incorporate a commandlist into robotlegs, the way i've done it now is to have a commandlist actor funnel out all the commands when not busy, but when the commands are executed robotlegs loses its' reference to the 'contextView'. Meaning i'm doing somehting wrong.
I recently started working with RobotLegs and AS3Signals on a project just to get some experience with these new frameworks. I wanted to add deep linking support, so I reached for my trusty friend SWFAddress. I felt bad about adding Event listeners in my nice clean RobotLegs + SignalCommandMap + AS3Signals project, so I modified the SWFAddress.as class that came with the examples to use AS3Signals instead of normal Events.
I'm using robot legs framework and wondering how mediator.mapView works with multiple instances of the same view. For example, in the following, is a new ItemDisplayMediator created for every ItemDisplay instantiated, or do all ItemDisplay's use the same mediator? If they each instantiate a new mediator, is it possible to use a single mediator for multiples of the same class/view?mediatorMap.mapView(ItemDisplay, ItemDisplayMediator);
I have a mediated view with a DataGroup with a custom ItemRenderer. I want when I click a button in the ItemRenderer to dispatch a signal and handle it in my mediator? How can I do that?
