Apr 20, 2012I have five individual movie clips that dynamically load names from five variables in a txt file (these all fade in and out and overlap the transition of the next). Every time the movie loops, I'd like the movie clips to display the next item in the list until every name has been listed - is this doable? Is there a better way to do this from within flash instead of loading the content dynamically?

Using Array Value In Dynamic Text Field?
Jul 31, 2009I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?

Jul 16, 2009i defined a global array in the first frame.When the user clicks on a button a value is inputted into the array, and they can click on several so all the different values are stored in an array.I want to display the last value of the array, so the last button they clicked on, on a separate frame.so i define my array like:
_global.purchases = new Array();
and the code on my button is:
on (release){
_global.purchases="awhite";
_root.gotoAndPlay("checkout_page");
}
and the code on the frame with the text box is:
var arrayCount = purchases.length;
var latestValue = arrayCount-1;
if (purchases[latestValue]=="awhite"){
imagename_txt = "A White";
}
However, the text doesnt display at all. If I trace my array then I get "awhite". If i trace arrayCount I get "6" and "5" for latestValue. But if i try and trace purchases[0] then I get "undefined".

ActionScript 2.0 :: Setting Dynamic Text Var From An Array?
Jul 22, 2009I'm trying to create a dynamic text field which displays the first number contained in an array named _root.arr. I set var to "_root.arr[0]" to catch the first number in the array. Unfortunately it doesn't work because it shows just a blank text field.
I've also noticed that if I just set var to "_root.arr" all the numbers contained in the array will be displayed separeted by a comma.
So, how can I just display the first number in the array?

These movies each have a dynamic textbox named "slideDescription". How would I be able to target that text box and get it to change the desciption each time I move to the next slide in the array?

word[0]="";(I need this for first word from a text)
When I try to compare the user.text to word [i] for example even if this values appear at trace() the same, the if (user.text=word[i]) give me everytime false.

I have no problems getting the number of all the objects on stage into one dynamic text box, but i want to have the number of each of the two different objects shown in their separate text box. ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Dynamic Text From An Array Into An Embedded Swf?
Jan 7, 2009I have my main stage, and into this main stage I am embedding another .swf file (multiple instances on a map). I would like to be able to load dynamic text from an array (addressA) on the main stage into the embedded .swf - can this be done?
Here is what I have tried, and failed with:
1) Creating a dynamic text box on the embedded .swf, giving it an instance name of markeraddy_txt, and writing AS in that .swf for markeraddy_txt.text = addressA;
2) Creating a dynamic text box on the embedded .swf, giving it an instance name of markeraddy_txt, creating a variable on the main stage of var embed = {url:'embed.swf'};, and writing AS in the main stage for embed.markeraddy_txt.text = addressA.
3) Creating a dynamic text box on the embedded .swf, giving it an instance name of markeraddy_txt, and writing AS in that .swf for markeraddy_txt.text = addressA[i];

Feb 1, 2010I'd like to gather (at run-time) all dynamic text fields on the stage and push them into an array. Then I can load an xml of data and populate each dynamic text field in the array with a matching value in the xml file.
So basically I'm writing one class file I'd like to be used on many different swf files, each of which can have one or 20+ dynamic text fields. I'd like the swf to loop through each text dynamic field, throw each into an array and then grab an xml item with a matching name as that text field and set its textfield.text value from it. So actually if the dynamic text fields are just in a for loop then I guess I wouldn't even need to place them in an array, just not sure how to identify the dynamic text fields on the stage.

Aug 6, 2009how to create a image gallery that uses arrays from a text file rather than xml (this is because the project I have now generates alot of html coding and stores it within a DB, it doesn't have any set html pages so using flash and xml is out of the question as it needs to be relative to the html page).
I have got as far as including my own way to get captions to be displayed as well....but here comes the problem, no matter what loop i have tried the captions seem to stay on the 1st caption and not change as the different thumbnails are clicked..

Aug 20, 2007I am trying to pass information to a many dynamic text fields when rolling over various movieclips that are generated using a loop. I have tried everything I know but can not get pahting to work prpoerly. The rollover works in that the curser changes by does not execute the lines of code within the in line function.(see red, bolded text (towards bottom) for problem). the Attached zipped swf is what it looks like as is.

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.

Mar 2, 2011I am working in Flash CS5 and I have placed a text field (dynamic, classic text) on the stage. I am accessing it through Actionscript on the same frame like this:

What ACTUALLY appears is this: So... The H, Ls, and D are gone. Mysteriously. Without warning. I am sitting here utterly confused. Is this just me?
PS. The text field is set to Myriad Pro Bold, a font on my computer, so it isn't like it's a font problem.
