I've looked at the other flip-book programs and editors out there, and none really give the customization that my company wants.I have something working, but the page scoping seems to be off. The pages will turn back and forward with a button click but they flip out of order. However, it all runs fine with no error when the user clicks on the pages themselves. This is the code from the main timeline (where I'm getting an error).

View 7 RepliesI have just done using the tutorial (url.....) for creating a XML Grid Image Gallery in Flash for my portfolio.Since I created my website entirely with flash cs5, I have put the script in a new action layer on top of one of the pages.It worked fine when I just tested that page, but when I clicked into other pages, the gallery wouldn't go away, I tried to put "stop();" in front of my script but still didn't work, everything overlapped with each other.The following is my script

I want to create a page with art work where images are pulled externally and the items in the grid also have text and are clickable (all taken from XML).I succesfully extracted information from XML and am using a for loop to create my image gird but not sure this is the best method? I have used an XML gallery tutorial from Republic of Code to get me started. Below is the for loop what I am struggling with at the moment is that the product images are not loading into the individual movie clips.

..but everything I've found uses an XML file to feed in the variable and parameter information. I need to feed this info in using flashvars and javascript from the html file only. I've tried modifying the ones using XML on my own but it gets to be too confusing on how to change everything when so much information--usually all the variables AND animation effect parameters--are being called from the XML.
I need to use a flip book, and I'd be happy to buy one, but my needs for it are a little different than most. Instead of loading images or SWF files as the pages, I need to load text (simple, unformatted text)instead from variables passed to the swf file.This way I can use it just to show text from a database.Ideally my project also needs to allow the user to modify/save the text displayed, too, but I won't worry about that until I get the basic display going.Is this possible with a flip book?

I seem to be able to increase the number in the variable, this creates more pages when I preview the project, but brings up some errors. Even when the pages are created, they are blank I'm not sure where i create the content for them? in their own movie? then where do i drop them?

I have purchased the HTML version of Flippingbook from the site below but have encountered various problems, in that it only supports Flash 9 +actionscript 2.0. Also the facility is problematic with zooming swf files. Great for flat brochures but not able to deploy flv video within swf files which is a shame.

View 2 RepliesI am currently building a website entirely in Flash, and I am fearing that it is becoming too large because I am having it all load on startup. Is there a way for me to have the file load to say, frame 10, and stop loading, then when a button is clicked to bring you to a new frame that has not been loaded, load the necessary frames? (I would also like to have a preloader for each time a button is clicked that takes you to frames that haven't been loaded yet.)
A specific example would be a photo gallery I want to incorporate into the site. When the user presses a button to view the photo gallery, I want a frame with a gallery of thumbnails to load that has not been previously loaded, and then when each thumbnail is clicked, the frame with the large picture in it should be loaded.
I was looking for a way to make different grid layouts for xml loaded jpg thumbs, so I read and applied a lot of the tutorials and posts about galleries, xml, thumbs and grids around here. Some of the script I used comes from Kirupa's adding thumbs tutorial. I also applied the concept in Creating Grids with Flash/AS. The result is attached here. A lot of the parameters, like row and column numbers and scaling of the thumbs,spacing, alpha, rotation, etc, can be changed easily in the script. Also, the idea is that you could write different prototype functions to get different grid layouts effects.

I am new to AS3, I am creating a gallery and stuck on a place. [URL]. Requirements:
1.) Need a nice loop for loading all thumbs, most important it should be physically separated, should not be looped via code.
2.) When I click on 1st button I must load first 4 thumbnails (which is already loaded), and with 2nd button it must load next 4 thumbnails from xml file, similarly with 3rd.
To flip an image around the center i am using this piece of code:
