ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Url Picking Not Working On Server But Working Locally
Mar 17, 2012
i have a "swf" file which is picking url from xml & displaying the image, when i tested it locally it works fine, which means it picks up URL from XML & displaying corresponding image. After i uploaded it on server, it doesn't show anything.

I have one .swf that loads a second one on level 2.level 2 then in turn loads variables from a text file .The problem is that it works locally, but refuses to work on the server. The urls are all local. This is such a simple procedure, I can't figure out what is wrong..... are there limitations doing this via server vs. locally? I never get any "file open" errors locally. I've spent 2 hours on this.... I'm just using a simple LoadVars similar to this example:
Code:
loadText = new LoadVars();
loadText.load("text3.txt");

I'm having problems with Shared Objects. They seem to work on my machine but when I put them on a server they're not working anymore.Basically I have a page with a video player and I only want the video to play when the user visits the page for the first time.This is the code:
PHP Code:
var beenVisited:Boolean=false;var shared:SharedObject=SharedObject.getLocal("visited");if (shared.data.visits==undefined) shared.data.visits = 1; beenVisited=fa

I have CS3 movie that opens links to other sites.It works fine when publshed to the web server but when I test it locally (opening it from my own files) the links don't work - is this a security settings issue? I tried opening settings manager and "allowing" files for that file location but it didn't fix it.

Everything works fine when I'm testing it locally and sending the variables to the live PHP file online, but as soon as I upload it, everything just kinda goes to hell and nothing gets sent through. I know Flash just changed its security settings to not allow loading from external sources, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference since everything (including the PHP file) is under the same domain. I've put the crossdomain.xml file in there, as well, but still to no avail. My code to send things is pretty simple:
ActionScript Code:
loadVariablesNum("mailto.php"+"?name="+name+"&email="+email+"&message="+message+"&to="+to+"&recipient="+recipient, 0, "POST");

I'm having a bit of trouble with a Flash/PHP voting system. Basically, it's using a loadVars object to send a simple Number variable to a PHP file that connects with a database and returns.
But for some reason, I can only get the votes to count when I test locally with an absolute path to the PHP file on the server. When I put it live, it will read the PHP file but doesn't seem to be able to send the voting data to it. Here's my code:
ActionScript Code:
//----- On load data function -----//
var dataIn:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
var dataOut:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
[Code].....
Like I said, everything works fine in local testing, but when I put it live, the votes don't get counted, whether I use an absolute or a relative path to the PHP file on the server.

In my Flex app, I need a Javascript control to call one of my Actionscript methods. Simple enough, according to the Flex/Actionscript documentation, I wrote this in my Actionscript code:
if (ExternalInterface.available)
ExternalInterface.addCallback("setName", setNameInActiveWindow);
In the Javascript control I wrote:
document.getElementById('FlexAppId').setName(name);
Works great. Exactly as expected, so I went to production. But it doesn't work in production :(. Same exact code... I can't figure it out. The above Javascript code is run, but the callback is not executed in the Actionscript code.

We just moved FMS onto a new server and the fms seems to be working fine. But when I go to load a flv in flash using the component inspector i type in the content path for where the flv is located on the fms server and it just keeps saying 'Failed to load flv'. If i type the content path for the location on the old server it loads up fine. I honestly dont know what the problem is as everything is the same as it was on the old server just a different server with different IP address.

I have a 1 frame main SWF. In the first frame I include codeAS2.as like so:
#include "codeAS2.as"
When I test the movie in Flash CS4, everything works fine, it loads all the data from the XML file menu.xml which is in the same folder. Using the Simulate Download function from Flash, it also runs fine, with not one error, everything loads. Now comes the headscratcher, once I upload it and run it, it does not work. The server is a Linux box and I work on a Mac. Everything I load externally is in the same folder as the SWF, so I have no absolute paths, all relative to the SWF. Can this be some sort of sandbox issue? [URL]

I'm doing a test install before we update our old server to 4.03.I've got the server software installed and configured (4.03 server, using iis for web).All the test stuff on the sample index page works, except for the dynamic stream tab.I've eyeballed the .f4m file, and tried putting in a complete url to the samples...but no luck.i just keep getting the stock connection timed out message.
Where do i need to look to start confiriming where this issue may be coming from?I've made made sure I can reach all the test videos by making flash players for them, calling them via rtmp... no problems.It's got to be something dumb with either the f4m file, or the way it's being served (btw, i have added all the mime types to iis , including .f4m as video/mp4....which is one of two ways I've seen it added).

I installed the FMS 4.5 on a debian system already running an apache web server. I configured the httpd.conf as mentioned in d6093a7e2f8312a374a1bde-8000.html but when i call a streaming url e.g. http://<IP>/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.m3u8 the request is still handled by the old apache, not by the FMS

In the swf that i tried connecting from Machine B, I debugged and found out that the swf was not able to connect to the FMS. (NetConnection.Connect.Failure)

I'm converting a several-years-old all-Flash site for a friend. I can activate the site in any browser if all the files are stored on my local drive but when I FTP the files to a server and try to launch, I get an error indicating either that the server has timed out or that the process is taking too long. I suspect the problem is in the index.html file which refers to some very old locations where the Flash Player is probably no longer obtainable, but I'm not sure.

The ad on the bottom right of the screen (the one with lightning flashing) has an invisible button in its Flash file (CS5) linking to [URL]. This file is imported as SWF in Dreamweaver CS5.
The hyperlink works in Firefox, but not in Safari. Maybe it is just my computer.
