I hope this is the right place to post this I am working on a flex project in AS3 (no mxml).. I unchecked the "Generate Html wrapper file" and when I compile for debug it works fine in my target deployment path (which is called WWW).
my problem is: if my document class is on the root of the sources folder, the generated SWF will be on the root of the Deployment folder (WWW/main.swf) .... but if my document class is inside a package like com.projectName.main.as for example, the generated swf file will be:

I am coming from flash to flashbuilder I have a directory, AS3_classes_dir, on my computer that stores all of my classes, including my greensock and papervision packages. In every flash app that I make I include that directory in the Source Path, so that I can import whatever I may need. Compiling in flash (using ctrl/enter) takes very little time; only the classes that are specifically imported are compiled.So today I did that in flashbuilder, included AS3_classes_dir via Flex Build Path/Source Path ... but now the compile time are a couple of minutes, even though I am not even importing ANY of the classes from within.

I would like to launch a MapMouseEvent via a combination of keyboard short cuts and a mouse click. This is a portion of what I have, and I am not sure if the logic is correct:[code]I have looked at similar examples on this site but still have not reach any solution. I am hoping that someone who knows FLEX can help me to basically launch a function via a series of Keyboard shortcut. For example: Alt + mouse click, or Shift + mouseclick, or something along those lines. The reason is that a simple mouse click already does something else on the screen.

I'm trying to build a flex project, linking it to some RLSs. When setting up the project in Flex Builder, the corresponding "build configuration" (that I got by adding -dump-config to the compiler options) generates (among other things) a tag like this :

Is it possible to create a command line Abode Air app? I know thats not the intended use of the framework, but I have a lot of utility code written in as3, and I have a need to programatically run some utility functions from another app (not flash). I know I can pass command line parameters to the Air app, but I would like to avoid having a window pop up while the calculations are being made.

I'm developing an AIR application in Flash Builder (Flex) and I needed the option to communicate with a serial port on the computer. I want to be able to launch serproxy.exe when my application runs. I've tried two methods, and neither of them are working for me.First method:

This proceeds to open the program, but then immediately closes it. No errors are thrown.Second method:

I have an Android AIR application (developed with Flex SDK 4.5.1) for which I need to block the Home Button, as the app is used by patients in a hospital without supervision, i.e. it is crucial that they cannot leave the app.
It seems that the only way to hijack the Home Button is to be registered as the default launcher, so that your own app gets the focus when home is pressed. This is easily achieved in the manifest, such as:

I've hit a snag when trying to debug an AIR app using adl.
Although adl successfully launches, the application never appears on screen / starts up.
eg:

Update: I've also since uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Builder (and therefore, the AIR SDK), and it still doesn't work. I think this adds weight to the port conflict, but still leaves me unsure of where / how to proceed
Further update Compiling exactly the same codebase to a AIR installer, installing, and running the application works fine. (Ie., a production release). However, the codebase fails to launch with adl. This pretty much confirms the issue as a local machine config problem somewhere with adl, and not an issue with the codebase.

Almost everything is in the title : Here's what I'd like to do :A nice html page with a php authentication process (http first then http**s** & so on) Launch a flex app which knows (I don't know how (this is the actual question !)) the user has already been authenticated and display his/her stuff he/she has to do for the day (or whatever...).

OK my project uses an xml file called Chart-app.xml inside this XML file there is a tag called <version></version> which I keep in the format like: <version>1.2.128</version> I am wondering if I can set it to append to the third number every time I run my project. So if I ran it now it would be 1.2.129, then if i ran it again it would be 1.2.130

I recently installed Adobe Flash Builder 4 in standalone mode on a new installation of Windows 7 x64.I can load and build an existing Flex 4.1 project I have been working on, but when I go to run the project in the browser (Firefox 3.6.15), I get:'Launching BensApp' has encountered a problem. My project is creating the SWF and container HTML page as expected, but fails to load the browser.

I am trying to use a custom html wrapper for my application, but when I browse to choose my file it defaults to an absolute path to my custom-wrapper.html file. I want to be able to pass off this project via SVN without any necessary configuration changes, but I'm not sure how to input a relative URL into this configuration dialog. I tried standard back referencing from where my main actionscript application file is in the src directory (i.e. ../../bin-debug/custom-wrapper.html), but that does not work.
I think that I need to use properties like ${DOCUMENT} or ${FLEX_HOME}, but I'm not sure where these properties get defined and which ones come by default in the environment.

The NativeProcess is having a big issue which would hang/sudden stop response after 1-2 mins of running. I wonder if anyone else encounter the same issue?I have tested on Windows 7 (64bit).If there any way to launch an exe and release the Nativeprocess handler from monitoring the process or other method will be appreciate.

I am working on a project that is primarily ASP.NET based. The main project is meant to be deployed to multiple locations for different clients, so one client might be located at website.com/client1 and another at website.com/client2. Within the application, we regularly use the application root operator ~ to get the path to a resource.
We also have a bunch of Flex applications that get deployed in there, and many rely on web services within the ASP.NET application. What I'm after is a way to reference the services relative to the application root. Here's an example of the location of some files for two client deployments:

FlexApplication and webService are both exactly the same, so what I want to do is something like this in the Flex code:
var myService:CustomService = new CustomService(~/services/webService.asmx);
myService.callMethod("Test");
I would like to avoid using relative paths for the usual reasons. Is there a good way to do this or a good way to pass the root url to the flex application from ASP.NET?

I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.

Where can I find the path to the Flex SDK? Last time I embeded metadata, Flash CS5 automatically found it for me. This time its not working. I get this message in the output window:You have used a feature that requires the Flex SDK:"Embed" metadata Please set the Flex SDK path if necessary and add it to the library path for this file. The Flex SDK folder contains the bin, frameworks, lib and other folders.

I looked around, and the latest reference I saw was from 2008 stating that the standard FileReference browser does not support retrieving the user's file's absolute local path unless it's an AIR app, and indeed there's nothing in the docs suggesting otherwise. The reasoning behind this is apparently some misguided security concern... I get it's not a great idea to let any Flash app know your directory structure, but if the user actually grants your app a file, I think it doesn't invalidate the security model to know just that file's absolute path.
I'm wondering if the state of things has changed at all with Flex 4 and there's a method of getting the local filename of anything. I need it because I'm making an application that when distributed runs locally in 99% of cases, so doing a full file upload just to save it somewhere else on the local machine seems silly. (Plus the standard file uploading method doesn't support SOAP, which is what I'm using for all my other services...)

Imagine we have an object dispatching some event and this object should perform some action on this event. What's the right way of catching this event? May I listen to this event directly in my object or should I let this event travel through EventMap? Example: I have a popup window with form. On submitting form, I'm going to send a request to remote server and close this popup. Is it ideologically correct to perform popup close on click without dispatching custom event to EventMap?

Gas3 is not able to find my custom template.
I replaced the default path:
class:org/granite/generator/template/remoteBase.gsp
With my file, like this:
class:myPackage/remoteBase.gsp
But every time Gas3 tries to create the .as of my classes I get a Resource not Found exception. I tried different paths but all gave me the same error.

If user enters second time in that application, the content of that XML file, should be displayed without prompting him. application should read file silently and display the content.In this scenario, i thought that when user will save that file, the entire file location will be saved in cookie.
