I would like to compile my flex application with a services-config.xml file. However, I am forced to supply a context.root. In my setup, the context root (context path) isn't known until my .war file is named and dropped into the webapps directory.

If I use the the tag, I can do it; however the xml compiles into my swf. How can I retain the xml file in my release build?
View 2 RepliesI am having trouble compiling a project built in TextMate on a Mac. I have Flash Builder 4 and FlashDevelop on PC, and I cannot seem to compile the project even when I've downloaded the Flex 2 Hotfix 3 SDK. Flash Builder cannot work with Flex versions prior to Flex 3, so I'm left with Flashdevelop. When I assign the SDK path to point to the Flex 2 SDK, I get the following message when I try to compile:
command line: Error: unknown configuration variable 'static-link-runtime-shared-libraries' Use 'mxmlc -help' for information about using the command line. Build halted with errors (mxmlc). Is there something I'm missing, and is there an alternative way for me to compile this old project?
I'm using a licensed version of Flex Builder Pro to develop an application.I compiled the swc and generated swf successfully using ANT tasks.It contains an Advanced Data Grid also. When this application is accessed, I get a runtime error and it fails to load.
TypeError: Error #1007: Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor.

Down in my src folder (which is configured as part of the source path in the Flash Builder), I have a logging.xml which I configure via Parsley:

In services-config.xml we got following configuration of endPoint.

Before compiling flash application i set up context-root as compilaction option.
binmxmlc -context-root / -services "flex/services-config.xml" -optimize=true -o ....inMessenger.swf Messenger.as
In my case this is "/"
And the problem is that messanger.swf is able to pull request if the web application is started as ROOT in tomcat webapps. I mean it can only be access by this url localhost:8080/. If i try to move webaplication to another folder - for example to localhost:8080/myApplication messenger.swf would not work properly sinse i have to change root_context as well.
So my question how to dinamicly determine context-root in run time, without hardcode it as option of compiler ? I want my .war application work properly regardless of it position in webapps folder(url).
I am in a very peculiar situation here with my AS3 code. I was profiling my app in Flash Builder 4.5.1 as it seemed that it wasn't GC-ing some objects properly.
how to get rid of this object? Or how to determine what is holding it alive?
What does 1 Path mean? What is that GC Root and how it got there?
I am using robotlegs with IModuleContext, SignalCommandMap, LazyMediatorMap.

View 2 RepliesWhen using as3 and embed my swf via swf object JS, one of the parameters that being transferred to the embed JS function is "base=http://www.mydomain.com" which needed in order to load external widget into application.
Now, am also loading external assets like Styles.swf that placed locally on client side, and when I'm trying to load these assets I get error that they don't found in [URL]
For example: StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations("Styles.swf");
Error: can't load [URL]
Is it possible somehow to load Styles.swf as local assets??? I've tried use
StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations("../Styles.swf");
StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations("./Styles.swf");

I've made an user login, working with php and MySQL. When the user logs in, he can see all of his details, loaded from a database. Here he can press a button to change this content. After changing it, he needs to press the "save" button to load the new data into the database. But everytime the user presses the save button, it's adding an extra line to the data into the database, which results in an error of displaying the data. View 1 RepliesI am coming from flash to flashbuilder I have a directory, AS3_classes_dir, on my computer that stores all of my classes, including my greensock and papervision packages. In every flash app that I make I include that directory in the Source Path, so that I can import whatever I may need. Compiling in flash (using ctrl/enter) takes very little time; only the classes that are specifically imported are compiled.So today I did that in flashbuilder, included AS3_classes_dir via Flex Build Path/Source Path ... but now the compile time are a couple of minutes, even though I am not even importing ANY of the classes from within.
View 2 RepliesI have two swf files, each one almost with the same classes, the most important one is a Singleton class, each swf does "singleton.getInstance()". The diference is that one swf is like a container and the other one is like a module. So when the container loads the module from an absolute path like loader.load("file://c:/modules/module.swf") or loader.load("[URL]"), two different singletons (same class) are created
But when the container loads from a relative path like loader.load("module.swf") , just one singleton is created (that is what I want) I am just intrigued with this behavior, could someone explain me this? I added an external stylesheet file (css) to my flex project. Is there a possibility that the css is not compiled with the swf? It would be great if I could put the swf on my webspace and afterwards only change a css file to customize my application and fit it to the colors of my homepage.

I've made a library which I'd like to compile to an SWC file, I've tried to do this in FDT by choosing FDT AS3 Library as Run settings, but all I end up with is a 0kb .swc file. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I can't find much when I google it either

When I run the same script on my local compiles everything without any problems but when I try the remote ant it fails without giving more information.

There is a folder named public in the root directory. In the "public" folder we have a folder named Recorded_Videos, I need to place the recorded videos on this folder. How can I do this.Another issue that occurs while recording is NetStream.Record.noAccess. This is occuring while the recorded video is placing on client's flash media server with the path that i specified above. But when i running it in the local flash media server(developer version), its working well. The recorded files are placed on live_test folder. In the client's server the stream is not recording, instead its showing an error like "NetStream.Record.noAccess". The code that I am using for recording live stream is follows:

How do you display data on a LineChart that cuts off where there is no more data? For example, if I am showing a chart of company revenue for 2010, the chart should only show up to July now (with August and forward on showing no data). This would make the line in the line chart break and dissappear off at about midway through the year.

After some searching, I found the following at Adobe:[URL].."If the SWF file contains any ActionScript code, Flex prints a warning during compilation and then strips out the ActionScript from the embed symbol. This means that you can only embed the symbol itself."
I also found a work-around by Grant Skinner at:[URL].. I can proceed, but I'm still wondering. Why does mxmlc strip ActionScript from Flash compiled resources when embedding their symbols into Flex apps using metatags?

how to compile multiple files in a folder from the command line. I am planning to create a package with multiple files to form a library which I can use in my flex projects.
I've been working on a SWF that will be converted into a Projector file, no particular great shakes but some fun logic driving some aspects. Written Flex 4.5 it has been a doddle until I test the projector on a new / clean machine and without (v important this) a network connection. What happens is the movie fails with an... Error #2032: Stream Error: URL: file:///C:|/mydirectory/framework_4.5.0.20967.swz
after some research I realise this is an RSL (Runtime Shared Library) that is cached on the local machine (WIN7) under the 'C:Users\AppDataRoamingAdobeFlash PlayerAssetCache<8 Char Path>' along with a host of other RSLs. But in my disconnected state it doesn't work, however, if the machine is connected it does work (by downloading and caching the appropriate libraries from Adobe). Unfortunately I need to deploy this Projector file as a single entity and often into disconnected scenarios. Reviewing Flex's build options I've selected 'Merged into code' for the Framework Linkage that I assumed would create my single, deployable object but alas no.
Is there a way of getting the current active document path from the flash application by AppleScript? The only command available in the Adobe Flash dictionary for applescript is "do script", can I call a script to get the path of active document?
