ActionScript 3.0 :: FullScreen One Element On Stage And Not The Whole Stage
Sep 18, 2008
Imagine a stage. Imagine a series of images (smaller than the stage and spread out evenly) that have been loaded into a bunch of "swfContainer" movieClips via the Loader Class. Is it possible to make one of these "swfContainer" movieClips go FullScreen and nothing else (i.e. not the entire stage, just the _mc that one of these images sits in)?

I'm doing a website for me, with flash... I want that the site is "full browser screen" but, I need that only the background is stretched for the size of the browser window, all the other elements (like nav bar, logo etc) will be in the same position, and MUST NOT be stretchet like the background...
How can I lock the position and dimension of the element of the website, but let the background stretch?

I am writing a program where the user can, in the simplest terms, drag and drop things on to the stage. I need the user to be able to save what they have done and when they come back choose to reload their previous project. My plan was to write all the information(object class, x and y values etc) to an xml file and when the user chooses to load a particular project, rebuild the stage with all objects in their correct locations. My problem is, how do you add an xml element with all of its attributes and child elements dynamically for each object added to the stage?I'm relatively new to XML, but I figured this would work:
ActionScript Code:
var test:XML = <test/>;
test.title = "Test XML";
for (var i=0; i<platform.numChildren; i++) {
[code]....
in a for loop as well. But, these give me a warning that says "adding an element with more than one item is not supported" or something like that.

I'm creating a website within which I would like to achieve a menu system at the bottom of the page with a white band behind similar to this site:
[URL]
I have created the menu buttons and band but I can't figure out how to maintain their relationship with the edges of the browser window if it is rezised at any point during a user's visit (same as the site above).
I have been setting the position of the buttons and all other elements using, for example :
myBtn.y = stage.stageHeight - 100;myBtn.x = stage.stageWidth - stage.stageWidth + 50;
For publishing I use noscale, 100x100 percent, top-left justification.

I have two boxes on the stage. These two boxes together are converted to graphic. Each of the box - lets called "A" consist of some kind of surrounding (the line around the box for which we set up[ stroke) which I will cal "B". And inside that box theres another box of different color - I will call it "C", with different surrounding - call it "D".
(It is inside the first one).The other box from that graphic looks the same, but has different names. "E","F","G",and"H" respectively. All of the elements "A","B","C",and "D" forms a button. I have some code to use it.(with event listeners) My question: If I would like to change the colour of the element "B" (which are a movie clip), how will I code it.
ActionScript Code:
import flash.net.URLLoader;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.utils.Timer;
var urlLoad:URLLoader=new URLLoader();
[Code] .....
And it tells me: Access of undefined property B...
The code works fine for whole button(A). A changes color, but I would like only the surrounding to change the color. I guess I have to put some path in there, but I am not really sure how to.

I'm making a flash movie project, the stage size is 600x800. When I use fscommand to make the flash projector fullscreen it shows everything, including out of stage things. How do I get the projector to only show the stage Fullscreen? PS: An answer in AS 3.0 would be fine to! As 2 is preferable!

Here is the problem I have: after I change the index of one movieclip using this code
oldIndex=getChildIndex(DisplayObject(e.target));
setChildIndex(DisplayObject(e.target), numChildren - 1);
when I give the object its old index
setChildIndex(DisplayObject(e.target), oldIndex);
and go to another frame of the movie, this element I have changed the index of stays on top of all elements on the new frame. My question is am I doing something wrong and if not, what can I do so that this element stays only in the frame it is placed.

I'm working on a full browser flash site and it works great, its got a 1000x650 movie in the middle centred in the html and the background colour of the movie fills the rest of the stage, no margins, no mess!
Thing is, I need a black overlay to fade in (to put other content over the top) Thing is, the black box only resizes to the size of the stage not the full browser window! Heres the code at the moment:
// Stops the stage from scaling with the browser window.

I'm developing a kiosk-type projector file to play fullscreen & I'm encountering a strange problem. There's a video on the stage (720 x 480) and the stage is 1280 x 768. When the projector switches to fullscreen mode, the video expands to fill the height of the screen instead of the stage filling the screen. It's acting like the fullscreen mode is telling the video to play fullscreen.

Is there a way to determine the non-fullscreen maximum stage height/width? In other words, is there a way to pre-determine what the value of stage.stageHeight and stage.stageWidth will become before the user maximizes his browser?

This fullscreen code works properly if the stage is 400 x 400 px or smaller than .flv ( I tested it in both in html and swf ).
stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, onF);
function onF (event:MouseEvent):void{
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
video.fullScreenTakeOver = true;
}
But the video is not going fullscreen if the stage is bigger than 400 x 400. I have to make a stage big in order to design the rest of my website.
Publish settings : exact fit, 100% width 100% height, flash only Allow Full Screen.

I working on a projector presentation in flash where I would like to run it in fullscreen. I use:
fscommand("fullscreen","true")
In the first frame, but it scales up my content so that it gets blurred. Is it possible to keep the stage width and height and still go fullscreen, so you just fill the space with stage color.

I've encountered a really frustrating problem recently when switching to StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN with a FLVPlayback component on the stage.
My movie:
bottom layer: a movie clip inside of which is a FLVPlayback component playing a flv movie
upper layer: movie clip (logo), second mc (fullscreen button)
Fullscreen button code:
function doFullscreen(event:MouseEvent):void {
if(stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN){
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.NORMAL;
} else {
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
}}bFullscreen.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doFullscreen);
Effect (Before clicking the fullscreen button):
Everything is okay, the movie plays, logo and button are visible.
Effect (After clicking the fullscreen button):
The only thing that is visible is the playing movie, but logo and fullscreen button disappear.
What happens:
The mc with the FLVPlayback component gets the highest child index and covers the logo and button. It is not the problem with aligning logo and button on the stage, as without the FLVPlayback component they are perfectly aligned. I also tried to manually switch the depth of the mc with the FLVComponent, unfortunately without any result.

I've used a standard skin on an FLVplayback component which loads and plays perfectly. The problem arises when I enter fullscreen mode and then leave it again. Once I've done this, the video remains on the stage irrespective of what frame I'm on. I can even change scenes and the video remains in the middle. I haven't even added the video using actionscript so I don't really understand how it could possibly stay on more than the frame its inserted in!? At the moment I've used no ActionScript to control the video. I apologise if I'm missing something, this is the first time I've dealt with videos.

it's possible to change the default key (space bar key) to execute the action of the focused element in the stage?If you ever worked with the Focus Manager you've possibly seen that when you press the space bar the focused item is "executed".Can you disable that "executor" or can you change the space key with the enter key?

I have an SWF file with a full-screen button working perfectly. I have added an FLVPlayback component, working correctly.
However, if the whole stage is in "Full Screen" mode, and I click on the button which loads the FLVPlayback component, the screen becomes black and the FLV doesn't even load.
I have tried addind the action movieHolder.fullScreenTakeOver = false; but it did not help.
I m working with Flash CS5 and AS 3

I'm working in a xml videogallery and I'm using a video component... The problem is that when I go fullscreen the video object loads in the top-left corner of the stage (is a 800x600 movie) tough I publish my movie with 100% x 100% dimensions.
[Code]...
As you can see after the first fullscreen the stage remains in the Top Left corner. Is there any way to make the stage return to the center? I need to do it when I return from fullscreen to normal mode... or.. what can I do? I tried to put the gallery inside a MC and center it but still fails cos the video object loads in the registration point of the MC (like in the first example I've provided)...

I have found 2 different Threads about the topic, which worked fine.[URL]... and it seems that it is close to what I am trying to achieve. However, the codes that they came up with don't seem to work with mine. I attached the FLA.Anybody has a solution so when the stage is scaled down smaller than the original image size, the image stops scaling. And the image doesn't distort. The eagle on the intro scales proportionately and the one when you go to campaign section behaves exactly like I would like to.I've found the website here by the way, which was the starting point of my experimentation.
Code:
//stage properties
Stage.align = "TL";
[code]....

I am using SWFOBJECT to embed my flash content. I have been worried about stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight returning 0 in Firefox/Internet Explorer; this problem is referred to in question #21 on the SWFOBJECT FAQ [URL]..I have been told that this problem is particularly prevelant on Macs. The SWFOBJECT FAQ (question 21) indirectly suggests that this problem does not occur with static publishing. Is this correct? Is it still advisable to implement a solution to this stageWidth/stageHeight problem, even if you are using static publishing?

- I have A.fla.
- A.fla includes buttons, movie clips and also B.swf is loaded in A.fla using a LOADER
- i want to access elements in A.fla, from the actionscript codes inside B.fla to modify those movie clips and buttons based on actions going on in B.swf
for instance, lets say there is a button X in A.fla, and there is a button Y in B.fla, B.swf is loaded into A.fla, and I want the button Y to erase button X when clicked.
general question: accessing elements in a stage, through a SWF file loaded into that stage.

I'm writing a web based flash app that's written entirely in AS3. I have objects on the screen as part of a GUI. I would like the user to be able to resize the window, or make it full screen. I would like everything to auto-scale with the resize, but also remain in the same relative position on the stage.

I've been working on a project that requires lots of scaling around a center point.
I always thought that stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight give you the dimensions of the stage you set in the properties panel no matter what. But when I went into fullscreen mode (with scaling), both the width and the height changed to the dimensions of the screen rather than staying the dimensions I specified.
