ActionScript 3.0 :: Generating A Good Control Point For Curves?

Dec 15, 2010

Im trying to animate a particle in a way that it just curves. If your familiar with beziers (im not) then you know that there is a start point, a control point and an end point.I am finding it difficult to dynamically generate a good control point.So a line starts at x:0, y:0and ends at x:100, y:0I know just from basic mathematics that i could find out the middle point:x:50, y:0Then i could just randomly specify a y value of say... 10. So my curve now looks something like this:

starts at {x:0, y:0}
control point at {x:50, y:10}
ends at {x:100, y:0}

[code].....

Actionscript 3 :: Calculating The Control Point Of Curve Using A Given Point

Jan 12, 2012

I am trying to develop a Quadratic Bezier Curve using the graphics.curveTo() method. Initially when i drag mouse to draw the shape, i use start point and end point of mouse to draw the curve line. I assume control point at any position below or up to the line. An draw the curve using this control point. some what like:-

[Code]...

Now i add a tip on this curve segment. I have x and y position of tip. I want to change the curve segment by dragging tip. but now i don't have the exact control point according to tip position. If i use tip coordinate as control point it reduce the height of curve and now tip does not lie on the curve segment. What i have to do is calculate the exact control point on the basis of tip coordinate. But i failed to get this point.

Visual Studio :: Good Programming Book With Good Working Examples And Is Tutorial Approach

Nov 27, 2010

Looking for a programming book that is in tutorial approach. Example this chapter teaches you how to do a login form. In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces.The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Draw Curve Through 3 Points (not Control Point)

Feb 3, 2005

I'm attempting to make a curve drawing tool a bit easier to use.Rather than drawing a basic curve and then clicking on the control point to change it, I would like the user to be able to click on the curve itself to change it, much as you do in the FlashIDE.So, given start and end points, and a point on the curve, how do you determine the control point for use with the MX API?(I googled this, but found mostly info on cubic rather than quadratic curves)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Control A MC Position Based On Mouse Point?

I am trying to make an animation where the user can mouse over a small MC at the top of the stage, which controls the movement of another larger MC at the bottom of the stage.I am thinking that 'points' (which I know nothing about) might be the way to go. The other thing is that it needs to be fluid motion. Am I at least on the right track with points and mouse_move or is there a better approach for this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Getting The Performance From Flash Using Curves?

Aug 28, 2009

I've been working on simple animation for a client, which you can see __here__.I have a few issues with performance. I have popped a fps counter at the top left and it seems to only run at around 30 fps on my laptop, I need it up to 60 though.

i was just wondering if anyone had any tips about getting the best performance from flash.I have used Shape instead of Sprite on the curves, which gave a slight improvement. Surprisingly I didnt notice any change in performance when I dont use the blur filter on the curves, which was odd to me.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Making Drawn Curves Invisible?

Jun 27, 2006

I've made a drawn menu with curves in my root. This menu loads dynamically swf into an empty container mc. Within some of these swfs, there are full page image galleries. However, the drawn curves seem to stick on top of these swf: I can still see them although the rest of the content is invisible. Now I want to make those curves also invisible...

Code:
//API AND LINES//
box2.lineStyle (1, 0xff00ff,0);
box2.beginFill(0xCCCCCC,0);
box2.moveTo(0,0);

[code]....

Now I want to realise a function in an externally loaded swf that makes these lines/curves invisible. i was thinking myself of something like

Code:
btImages.onPress = function (){
_root.line.lineStyle(0.5,0xCCCCCC,0);
gotoAndStop (3);
}

But unfortunately thsi doesnt work.

Here is the code using lineTo

Code:

I tried curveTo to achieve this. But it is not working.

Flash - Drawing Cubic Bezier Curves Programmatically In AS3?

Jul 14, 2010

What's the best way to draw cubic bezier curves programmatically in AS3? The Graphics class only seems to support quadratic curves. I want to be able to do something like:

var startPoint:Point = new Point(0, 0);
var endPoint:Point = new Point(5, 5);
var control1:Point = new Point(5, 0);
var control2:Point = new Point(0, 5);
var myBezier:Sprite = getBezier(startPoint, control1, control2, endPoint);

For a performance target, I'm planning on having ~50 of these on the stage at once.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Senocular's Path.as Points In Curves Seem Inaccurate

Aug 22, 2010

I'm working with Senocular's Path.as file and I notice that the points that it outputs on curves are not very accurate. [URL] The code has a variable for curve accuracy in there and I have tried changing it but if I set it to 1 or to 500 it doesn't effect the placement of objects on the curve.

Basically what I am doing is putting beads on a necklace and pushing them through a curve. Kinda like in the game Zuma. However when I set the positions of the beads to go up incrementally there seems to be a slight burst of speed on the curves, that speeds up at the ends and slows in the middle a little. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to make the curves more accurate with this script? It is a hell of a good script by the way I'm sure I'm just stupid and not seeing something.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Distance From Point To Point And Referencing Other Instances Of The Same Class

Feb 8, 2009

I'm creating a game in flash for a university project, and learning actionscript and programming as I go. I'm very much still at a beginner level - at the moment al I have is some actionscript for drawing rectangles and moving them about the screen. This is what I'm having trouble with at the moment: I have a class called 'Creature', and I want instances of it to interact with each other. I want them to do something when they come within a certain distance of another instance. And I want them to be able to pick a random other instance to get the location of, in order to do something with that information.

What I think I need is: A function for telling the distance between two (x,y) points.
A way of referencing the nearest other instance of the class. And a way of randomly selecting from all of the instances of the class.

ActionScript 2.0 :: A Line From One Point Past Another Point And Whether It Hits An Object?

Aug 19, 2009

I am using AS2 with Flash 8 Professional So, my problem is that I currently have a man in the middle of the screen, who shoots a line towards the mouse when I click. However, when I use hitTest to see if the line collides with another object, Flash recognizes the line as a large box if it is diagonal, so the hitTest isn't very accurate. The line only satys there for one frame, so I can't have the usual moving-bullet-style. I am either looking for a way to create an imaginary line with AS from the starting point to the mouse and beyond, and tell whether or not this line intersects with an object... or some other way that I haven't thought of to fix my problem. Keep in mind that the line rotates from a center point towards anywhere around it for 360 degrees.
