Visual Studio :: Good Programming Book With Good Working Examples And Is Tutorial Approach
Nov 27, 2010
Looking for a programming book that is in tutorial approach. Example this chapter teaches you how to do a login form. In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces. The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.
I'm looking at purchasing a couple of new AS3.0 books, I would say my skill level is basic to intermidiate, and I'd like to push my skills to at least near or at pro levels, what would you recommend?
I'm a PHP programmer who's learning more about adobe products including flex, and would like to train myself to recognize when flash/flex is the right technology to use for a client/project (and of course when it's not the right technology to use).I guess the best way to get it is by experience, so if you know of any examples (full site or even small part of a site) that you think the developer was right or wrong in choosing the flash technology for that project/part, please add it here with an explanation why. Same for other projects that were not implemented in flash but should have been. If you think the developer made the wrong decision, say why and what you would have used instead. The idea is to provide real examples to help people like me who are getting into flash/flex, but want to understand the right way to fit it into their work if at all.
I create their basic Flash app with their Flash IDE for Visual Studio 2010 http:[url]....When launching the run button, it launch flash but with this error within Flash CS4: The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
t line 6 of file "FlashApplication1.jsfl": Cannot find file file:///C:/temp/FlashApplication1/FlashApplication1/FlashApplication1.as.
Can anyone recommend a good book to help me with XML integration in Flash. I need a book that will teach me step by step with very specific instructions how to get information from a user, update the XML file and display the information in a another swf.
Im finished with the essentials (I read and exercised AS3 Essentials from Moock) and now Im looking for a more advanced book/tutorial/guide/etc that covers deeply about AS3 game development.
I need to make a movie whereby the user drags four items onto 4 targets and achieves a result as each object lands on the target, such as a sound. and then a well done statement at the end.
Can anyone recommend me a place where I can download such a file so I can manipulate it?
I've never worked with XML in Flash.I'm looking for a good tutorial on creating an XML driven image gallery, but I have yet to really find anything.Does anyone out there have a good tutorial?
i'm doing a flash SWF uploader in ActionScript 3.0 that uses 'upload.php' as a script to put the actual uploaded file on the server.
As a server i use WAMP (a package of PHP/apache/mysql/phpmyadmin) on port 3223 on my local machine.
The upload script is working (i write stuff in my database to check if it works) and when i printout $_FILES it shows some garbled stuff, not the real array with filesize, filename, file tmp_name, etc.....so i figured the SWF is not passing well the $_FILES variables.
The SWF on the other hand signals Event.COMPLETE for the file being uploaded.
here's my flash script for the progressbas_fileUploader
Can I use Tofino (Visual Studio plugin for Flex development) to build IOS apps? Also do I need to download the Flex 4.5 SDK if I already have Flash Builder 4.5?
Most of my applications are a combination of VB.NET and Adobe Flash, such that the VB application is displaying a Flash file inside the main form (using Adobe's COM object). The VB application is communicating with the Flash file via the ActionScript ExternalInterface and FSCommands (using XML strings). I'm having a hard time debugging the applications, since when an error occurs withing the Flash file (due to a bug in the ActionScript code) I'm getting a non-informative exception.
What I'd like to do is to debug both codes at once. At the very least I'd like to see the runtime error output as it is shown when I'm working with Adobe Flash. At the best scenario, I'd like to be able to hook my VB.NET code with the Actionscript code such that I can use breakpoints in both.

Edit: Environment: I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and Adobe Flash CS4.
I know im a pain asking you all questions about c++ but we all know your all good enough to do anything so thought id give it a shot. I'm creating a naughts and crosses game (tic tac toe for you americans!!) for uni and am getting a little stuck! The game runs and a winner can be decided but when the game ends i want it to ask whether another game wants to be played.
Then i want it to carry on as a new game and loop until the players dont want to play again. i've included the source file in notepad form also could anyone tell me how to carry out a check on the array so that once a value has been entered into that co-ordinate (O or X) another value cannot overwrite it???
I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger). Here is the code that embeds the ammap:
Can you list your favourite royality free photo CDs/sources ? As in for hi res jpgs which we can use as backgrounds for websites ?Do most of you use CDs or do you rely primarily on webbased sources ?Can you list cheap priced CD titles, Websites or any free image sources online with no strings attached?
I have copied a new image in to the flash, and i tried to rotate it.Rotation is working, but the image is not looking good in flash (i can see some distractions while rotating).
We have several people that touch Flash files at my company.oes anyone know a good way to make sure we're not opening the same file at the same time?Sort of like how Word will prompt you with a choice of opening as read only or how Dreamweaver lets you check files in and out.Is there anything like that for Flash?
I have a client who will want an e commerce area for his site. Does anyone recommend a good Flash based program out there that will allow you to constuct an e commerce solution in both AS 2 or 3 . I know that is a lot to ask for but at this point I really need something that will not break my budget, I can use easily multiple times with different looks .
