Sep 2, 2009I've gotten far on my own just using online tutorials and dinking around in Flash on my own but my boss(es) are starting to ask for more complex stuff that I simply can't learn by just piecing together my Flash education.I know there's many, many books out there that will teach you Flash but can anyone recommend any particular one(s) that are more concentrated in creating Web elements as opposed to game or animation development?

In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces.The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.

Process Of Learning Flash To Make A Customized Video Player?
Aug 19, 2009I'm having trouble getting two buttons to do anything. Right now I'm in the process of learning Flash to make a customized video player. I have a rewindButton and a playButton and both have up, over, down, hit assigned but when I run the video and hover over the buttons the mouse changes to a text cursor. No colors change and the buttons aren't clickable.I followed the Flash Video Basics 1 and 2. Also, when I take the // off of the ns play bnc.flv line, the audio echos. I have no idea what's going on.

Feb 2, 2012Point me to a robust and well documented Date library for AS3. Specifically, I'd like one that works (at least in principal) like the Java date formatter, so that you can pass in a string of a specific type and get back a date object that can then be easily translated to an alternate timezone, etc. Working with the native Date object is an incredible PITA for when one needs to do things like this... I'm hoping I won't have to re-invent this wheel from scratch.

Jan 26, 2008I am trying to create a sort of book type thing in flash. I would like to have a "next" button that when clicked will go over to the next body of text to be read, as well as a previous button that will go back to what was just read. I would also like a "back to beginning" button. I know how to do the "gotoAndPlay (1)" type thing on a button. However, would I have to add a new button on each of the text parts? Or can I put it all on the same buttons?
For example: (I know this isn't real code or anything, just trying to describe)
if on text one > got to text two
if on text two > go to text three
if on text nine > go to text ten
if on text ten > go to (end here so next button disabled, or changed to 'back to start').
