im trying to create a grid gallery that when you rollover an item it grows larger and makes the other items a little smaller, and moves them to compensate for the larger image and on rollout it shrinks to its original size, and so does the other items. if someone could point me in the right direction (tutorials, etc.) or how i would go about build it,

I found this really neat photo gallery on flashkit but there is no support or readme included. how to size this thing.. the AS code does have comments but I am not a coder.I'd like to make the image window smaller and the overall movie smaller. 325x325 or so

The problem with this version is that i want the clicked button to grow and stay larger than the other buttons. And when you click another button, that button becomes large and the last clicked button gets smaller. I've figured out how to do that, which you will see in a moment, but that is not my problem. Now, with this version I am actually using a proximity formula for the rollovers instead of actual rollOver handlers, and the buttons seem to respond well. Here is the modified version of the nav, using rollOver handlers and growing and shrinking the appropriate buttons:[URL]
As you can see here, this version seems to be working fine as long as you are rolling over the buttons fairly quickly. But, if you put your mouse right on the edge of the button, I think you'll see that the button goes into some sort of pulsing action, larger and smaller. It may stop after a moment or it may not. In an effort to find the problem, i removed each property (alpha,blur,bevel, etc) one at a time and basically figured out that mainly the blur filter is causing the button to act erratically. Without the blur filter, it works just fine.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and if there is a solution to it (besides getting rid of the blur ). I could go back to using proximity for the rollovers, but i had a hard time keeping the buttons enlarged when you roll away from them. That's why i went back to using onRollOver instead. Sorry for the long and rambling post, but sometimes it's hard to explain certain things in just a few words..

I want a circle to get large. No problem:

but now: when the circle has reached the desired size I want him to shrink back to e.g. 150

I have problems because at a certain time both if-conditions would be fullfilled and nothing happens.

I have flash CS4 and some time ago made a simple movieclip in an older version of flash.I now want to make a simple gallery with thumbnails that show a larger image once you hover over the thumbnail.[URL]I forgot most of the workings in flash, so it's difficult to make what I want.

I have 2 .swf files.#2 will be dynamically loading into #1.
Lets say the stage size of #1 is 600x400.
Lets say the stage size of #2 is 800x600.
Is it possible to load a larger .swf file (#2) into a smaller one (#1), and somehow see the whole thing? As in, not crop the embedded file to the dimensions of the smaller "containing" file?

How can I set the parameters of a smaller mc, to be placed on top of a larger mc, and not have the active ingredients (such as some random floating objects) roam outside of the smaller mc? The problem I am having at the moment, is my objects will not stay inside the smaller mc, but instead, roam all over the larger mc below it. So I'm thinking I need to set up some solid parameters for the smaller mc. I was up late, late last night on all sorts of actionscript boards, and still haven't found the answer. I am using flash 5, and the small mc is, once again, on TOP of a larger mc.

Background: Sorry for the complex title, but can't think of a better way to describe this. So I have an image which is constantly moving and rotating (using matrix rotation around a specific point) on the stage. Problem: So I'm looking for a way that, when the user presses a button, a smaller image (exactly the same as the original one, only 3 times smaller) to position itself so that the smaller image's location is proportional to the the larger one's location. This means that the exact point of the larger image where it is rotating should be the corresponding part of the smaller image, thereby causing a kind of zoom out effect.
The truth is, I'm finding it even difficult to match just the x and y positions so they correspond, ignoring rotation, assuming the position is relative to the rotation point. Even this would be useful.

I am trying to make a Grid that is equal to the width and the height of the flash movie. I have a movieclip called box which is 30x30, and want it to repead along the x to form columns and along the y to form rows so that it makes a big rectangle of smaller squares. I created a simple mouseover (like this one http:url... )with one small image that grows to a LARGER image directly on top of the smaller image when mouse is OVER the smaller image. When user mouses OVER the smaller image the larger image appears correctly.Problem is that even when user mouses OVER the "boundries" of where the LARGER image WILL appear, that also causes larger image to appear. What I want is for the larger image to appear ONLY when mouse is OVER the smaller image.

I just want to design a button when the mouse roll over the button will gradually become larger (to a fixed size) and gradually comes to the originally size when roll out. I try to use "Adding Buttons to Movie Clips" method, ie, one MC with two layers, an amimation MC (tween from small to big and then big to small) and a button. Add script as follows:
on the first frame:

When I roll over the MC tween small to big and big to small and when roll out the MC gradually small. What I want is when I roll over the MC tween small to big and keep it is except when I roll out.

I've got my 3D sphere to triangle collision detection working now, but I need an efficient method of adding the triangles to the broadphase grid.
This is easy enough if the triangles are smaller than the grid nodes, however - especially given the polycounts I'm working with - it's going to be fairly frequent that a triangle is significantly larger than the grid nodes.
Here's an example.See the yellow polygon? Just adding it the grid nodes by it's vertices results in it NOT being added to 4 grid nodes that it does reside in.
My first thought is repeatedly casting rays along one of the edges from the normal of the edge until you find the intersection point with one of the other edges, of course checking for intersections with the grid edges until you reach the destination intersection with one of the other edges of the triangle. This would work, but is not particularly fast.
Although these triangles aren't being added/removed in real time, only when building the level, when constructing a level with say 100,000 polygons total, I obviously want it to be processed as quickly as possible.

I want to make a square grid of fixed side length but varying grid number using code.That is, the number of grids should be specified by the user (say 3*3) and after pressing a button, the stage should be broken into 3*3 grids.I don't want any code, just a method on how to do it. I have tried it by using simple loops but the method just fails for no reason I can figure.

I'm working on a project with a 2D, flat, globe, that rotates either left or right. Essentially, it's a circle. All around this circle are going to be buildings, evenly spaced. If you're having trouble visualizing that, see this illustration.[url].. The children in this illustration would be the buildings I'm referring to. Now, the top most building will be the biggest, and the others will gradually get smaller. How can I get this working so that buildings ease in and ease out in size as the planet rotates?

I bought TiltViewer Pro to show a gallery, I cannot post a link since I only have 27 posts for this website but you can find it easily on the net ... Tiltviewer Pro Demo (w dot simpleviewer dot net slash tiltviewer slash app slash). But in my website I need more pages, like About and Contact. I think it would be great if the other pages would have some of the same attributes as the gallery. So I was wondering if you could help me for the flash script to make other mc or swf move likewise. I am looking for scripts for 3 things; 1-Always be in the center of the screen 2-Be able to grow or reduce depending of the screensize 3-Be able to move following the mouse position... all like the tiltviewer app.

Basically i want to have Album categories the same way the thumbnails work so their is a mask limiting 4 categories on screen and when you click < or > arrows next to the categories it shows the next 4 categories that you would be able to choose from.
Then I would want it to load whatever category you selected into the thumbnails and the larger pic.
Does anyone know how to do this ? Or if their is another tutorial that would show me how to add categories into something like a gallery with thumbnails?
Apologies for being stupid and the poor grammar I've been searching everywhere to find out how i can add in some categories and still have it linked to the thumbnail scroller and larger images, but i haven't found any luck at all I just want it so you could add in as many thumbs and categories as you wanted and have those masked and scrollable rather then a dropdown.
I paid for some silly pdfs to explain it better to me but they did it in a way that I didn't like and turned out just to be a waste of money. Learnt my lesson and signed up here to ask the pros! I want to create something that can be updated from just an xml file.

I have a mini-project where I want to make an object grow and move to a different section of the stage when I click on it. I know how to do this part, but what I want is for it to "move" there as if it were a tween, but I want to do it with code instead of with the timeline. I want it to function exactly as it does now, but with a motion tween. I also do NOT want it to jump back to the beginning when another button is clicked, but rather play from where it is. I've also attached the FLA with this.

I've set a DataGrid to display all the rows in the data provider by binding it to the height of the control.Now that all rows are rendered, I want the DataGrid to grow horizontally so that every column renders the whole text (of Labels).Is there a way of doing this without resorting to a typical object?

I have a xml gallery at the moment which loads in thumbnails and displays the larger images when clicked. What I am having trouble with is that some of the thumbnails have their own multiple images (more than 1 image for that thumbnail). I want to have a numbered menu 1,2,3,4 and when I click on the thumbnail depending how many sub photos there are for that one thumbnail I want to display an that image. And just to be dificult I also am displaying the larger images in another swf on the same page using local connection.

I need to define an XML format and then read it in ActionScript3, which will be storing:the number of rows and columns in a grid the horizontal and vertical spacing in pixels the size of each square in the grid in pixels an optional label for each square in the grid an optional hyperlink for each square in the grd.The following is the kind of thing that would meet my needs at the moment, which demonstrates the four square types:[code]

The goal is to be able to read the grid properties and to define a function that will give back a square's label and url given a row and column. (The easy thing about this format is that getting a square is just a matter of indexing into children of the grid node by integer... first column, then row.)

I found this tutorial: [URL]. It works great but I wanted to add a little more to it. Currently it works with only one item displayed at a time. If I want to display more than one item, let say 2, I make the mask the size of the 2 items. The back button works fine because the X position is still the the same. However the next button does not account for the size of the mask and works like it did before.

I'm trying to figure an elegant way to display a certain number of items in a grid. I have a feeling the answer lies partly with modulus, but it's a little more complicated than that. I know how to lay out items in a grid based on a set number of columns. Something like this:[code]but what I want to do is set things up such that if there is only one item (j=0), the image covers the entire available area (stage.Width and stage.Height or, for simplicity, 1000px, and 500px). If there are 2 items, there should be 2 columns, with the images taking up half the width of the stage and all of the height (500x500), 3 items - 3 columns (300x500), 4 items - 2 columns & 2 rows (500x250), and so on, keeping a balanced grid layout but decreasing the dimensions of the items and increasing the number of rows in some sort of logical and balanced manner.

I have a data grid and there's a method attached to clicking on any item in a row of the grid.Now, some of the items in the table row are also buttons. Each of these are associated with a different action.We only want one of these actions to be performed.[code]we have currently a member variable to track which selection was made and to ignore the the contents of the other method (the else portion of the method resets this value).Now, if the methods just happen to execute in a different order (or at the same time), the behavior will be unpredictable.Is the member variable flag the way to do this (it smells so bad)?
