ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Get Imported File On Stage To Start On 2nd Frame

I import the actionscript file directly onto the stage as shown here:
The class will start automatically when I start the flash. How do I set it so it will start on the 2nd frame instead of the first one.

I am a Flash novice who was asked to do a brief training exercise on importing a simple .swf (3D animation) into Flash. However, I cannot figure out how to center the .swf on the Flash stage. Flash always places it in the top left corner of the stage, and while I can center each individual frame of the 50-frame animation by using the align feature in the properties window, I do not know how to center the entire 50-frame clip all at once. Do I have to use ActionScript to do this? And if so, what is the exact code I would need for this, and what exact procedure would I follow?

I have a swf file completed and woking fine - being used as a slideshow of images on the homepage of a client's website. I need to make the swf file start on a random frame. I've searched and searched the internet looking for examples of how to do this using Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3, but can't find it for the life of me...

I do animation as a hobby on youtube (using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and a few other programs for specifics such as morphing and mouth movements), and I was recently contacted by someone who wanted me to do some work for their website by making animation. The catch is, however, that they want my videos to be in flash format with the option to start playing (and repeat) when a person rolls over the scenes with their mouse.
Now, I was able to figure out how to convert my videos into Flash F4V format (yea!), but I can't figure out for the life of me what to do next. All of the tutorials I've read talk about inserting buttons and changing instances and setting things to over and... it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
I'm not a dummy... but I've never used this program before, and a lot of the videos out there seem to assume a familiarity with the product.
It "sounds" like it should be something easy and simple enough to do, but I must be missing something obvious here.

I watch the video tutorial of Mr. Lee Brimelow, I follow the tutorials but I encountered an error the loaded swf file doesn't start at frame 1 it jumps up to 115 frames.preloader.flamain.fla - animation starts at frame 115main.fla containts different scenes.

I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

i've got some movie clips on the stage on the first frame of an fla file. The mcies have event listeners to navigate to differnet frames on the timeline. Some of the frames to which we navigate have FLVPlayback components while others dont. i'm using some code for soundchannel in this fla, to create an array and load differnt music at a btn click, so that when we go to a certain frame we get some music. This works, no overlapping music.
The issue, that when we navigate to a frame with an flv that has an audio track, the the music that's playing on a different frame just wont stop. And another issue, when we navigate from the flv frame by clicking the mc that listens for the sound channel, the flv audio track wont stop playing and we get cuckaphonia.

How do you make a movieclip move horizontally from the start of the stage to 3/4 of the stage. Stage size is 700 px by 600 px i want just one row in the middle of the stage. i want that movieclip to disappear right after it reach the end of the 3/4 mark.

I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.

I am using a flipbook Flash/Actionscript 3.0 framework for a digital magazine[url]...
You can have videos embedded in the pages of the flipbook, but they can not be display fullscreen like Youtube videos, for example.
The flipbook can also import swf files to display as pages of the flipbook, so another way of embedding videos into a page of the flipbook would be to have the video player in the swf page you are embedding. This gives you more control over the style and the positioning of the video.
My question is: Is there a way with AS3.0 to togle the embedded video from normal predefined size to fullscreen and back?

I'm having a problem looping through my timeline, I want to use JSFL to hit each keyframe, perform an action (in this case breakapart, but thats a different question on a different thread) and then go to the next keyframe.

JSFL has proven to be the utter bane of my existence. I'm still relatively new to AS in general and AS3 in specific, and this is my first foray into the world of JSFL. I need to learn how to create this tool for work, and I am the only person here with any experience in javascript, so I'm pretty much on my own.

So I made a ridiculously long Flash animation, but now I have to break down to certain parts. It's all made in one scene.
My question is can I start the playhead on a frame other than frame 1. Say frame 595, I've tried gotoAndPlay(595);, but to no avail. I've searched for a good 2 hours on this too. Is something so simple not possible in Flash?

I have a need to have a section in an app I am creating where I have imported an external (print2flash)SWF into my main SWF timeline. When the button is pushed, it moves to a new frame on the main timeline. Problem is, when I forward to the next frame, the SWF stays on any future frame I go to. In essence I need to clear what was imported when I leave one frame and enter another.
This is the code I am using to import the print2flash SWF

I am using the CS4 version and when I click on the library item and drag it to the stage, there is nothing there. It is just a blank canvas and it's like the image(s) are hidden behind the stage or something. When I do a Publish Preview, I can see the .swf file with all the images, but in the .fla, there is nothing showing but the text files, and then that is even hidden in a newly created file. I am not sure if I accidently turned something on/off that is preventing my images from not showing on the stage or what. I really need to find a solution to this problem because I need to create a Flash file for a project I am working on in one of my classes. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have done Google searches and Forum searches to no avail unless I'm not using the right keywords in my search.

I have a htmlText field that is displaying xml content. One of the features I've written imports a swf and displays it in the htmlText field via an <img src> tag. The swf displays some text that is stripped out of the htmlText field when my as3 code finds [Boxed Text]Strip out this content [End Boxed Text]. The result would display 'Strip out this content" in the swf within the <img src> tag. This works great, as the swf has the dimensions of w.300 x h. 250, but I have received a request to resize the swf based off the length/height of the 'Strip out this content" text. I can resize the textbox in the swf via [boxedText.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;], however, when I do that, the stage size of the swf within the <img src> remains at a fixed 250 height, and as much as I try, I can not find a way to resize the stage. I am under the impression that there is only one main stage, and trying to change the size of a secondary stage within an imported swf is not possible, but then again, I'm also under the impression that anything is possible in flash.

I have six Scenes, each scene has an imported FLV file.I have a 6 button menu that works fine when clicking from one scene to the other.The problem is is that videos 1 to 4 play fine when I switch to the scene, but FLV files 5 and 6 just stay paused at frame 1.If I test the Scene using Ctrl+ALT+Enter, the Scenes work fine.But Only if I either hit Ctrl+Enter to render the whole project, or if I publish the file, do the FLV files pause on frame 1.All 6 videos are coded exactly the same way.

How to adjust the frame rate of an imported movie so that it would run in its intended fps rate, and not at the same rate as the presentation in which is importing it. (To be more specific, my main presentation runs at 1 fps, but the intro movie I want to add runs at 20 fps). Anyway, along my travels, someone pointed me towards the code at [URL]. I have since downloaded it and tried to get it to work. As it turns out, I know so little about flash and actionscript programming that I am unable to get it to work properly!
According to the comments in the code, it is executed by calling the fPlayControl() function, which has the following syntax:
_levelN.fPlayControl(_root.mcMovie,nFPS)
where (quoting now)
"'N' is the level number of where this swf is loaded and 'mcMovie' is a movie clip on the _root timeline of the movie that is calling this function and 'nFPS' is a number between 1 and 120."
I don't even know what levels are! Are they layers? Thus, the first layer is level 0? Then the next layer is level 1? Next, how do I give an imported movie a name so that I can call this function with the movie's name as parameter? I tried importing a movie into the library, and then giving it a name, but I still couldn't get the bloody thing to work.
My steps to attempt to get this to work: I opened the play_control.fla file, and chose "Import to library..." I then selected my little intro movie, and then I brought up the library, and renamed it. I also choose the "Export for ActionScript" option, which automatically highlighted one or two other options. Then I added this one line after all the other ActionScript code:
_level0.fPlayControl(_root.myintro,1);
Anyway, after doing that, nothing came up. Then I added another layer and inserted the intro movie from the library into it and played the movie again. This time the intro played, but it zoomed along (at I'm assuming 120 fps, which is what the speed is set to in the demonstration file I downloaded). Thus, it still wasn't working.

I have my main.fla which imports external swfs that contain flv's. I have three buttons that navigate the main timeline to frames 2-4. At frames 2-4 an external swf gets loaded into an empty movie clip via this code. Each loaded swf acts like a menu with some nice vidoes loading in the background.The problem i found is the flvs continue to play as i navigate between menus, which makes the main swf/fla slow down becuase the pc is working harder to deliver all the stuff running in the background. I understand how to import a swf and add it to the stage. Is it possible (using code) to add the one imported swf to the stage multiple times, each with different instance names? So the same as adding a library item to the stage multiple times, each time with a different instance name, with code, but using an imported swf?

I've had this annoying problem since CS1 and persists through CS3. If i import an image (either to stage or to library then placed on stage) the pixel size reported in the properties box is smaller by a very small amount. For example, I just dropped a 1005x650 PNG on the stage. The properties box shows this as w[1004.8] h[649.9]. The file is 72ppi in photoshop. Zooming in confirms that the image is shrunk slightly. In this case, the image was same size as the stage and I could see the white background showing through on the right edge of the graphic. It means that everytime i put a bitmap graphic on the stage, I have to correct the w and h in the properties box.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Does it occur in CS4?

I need to create an object in code which can then be imported to the stage. Specifically it's a circle with an ellipse cut out of it. The size and position of the ellipse masked out need to be parameterized by sliders, and the size of the circle as a whole is also a parameter which might be dragged out on the stage.
Does anyone have an example of how to programatically create an object in action script which can be imported to the library which can take parameters (or rather expose some methods) which can be wired to other things in the project like a knob or slider?

I've got an application which gives the viewer the capability to create a design then further customize it with their own art, i.e. a logo, which can be a .jpg, .gif or .png. I may narrow the file options down, but right now I'm finding when one prints this design (I have a "print" button as well) any transparent .png file that's in this design prints out with a white "box" that is obviously the canvas on which said .png was designed.

I am getting a 1009 error using tweenlite. I have placed the COM folder of tweenlite in the same directory as the FLA. On the main stage I have imported the tweenlite class using:

On the main stage I have a MC called mainholdermc. When I click a button called mentions but on the main stage it basically tells mainholdermc to play. This works well. I have another movieclip called vosdes. At the same time that mainholdermc plays I want to use tweenlite to make the aplha of vosdes lower. If I put this actionscript on the main page it works fine:

I have a flash file (banner ad) that uses some jpgs that I imported onto the stage. When I publish the file... It won't include the images. If the images are in the same folder as the swf.. it will work. However, just the SWF on its own will not display the images. Any ideas?
