ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Reference Respective Video From Different Class
Oct 23, 2009
I have a buttons class that puts 9 pictures on the stage and each one represents a different movie and leads to that movie when clicked (or will lead there once I figure out how to reference it to the specific movie). I have 9 movies referenced through XML. And I am using flvPlayer. Currently I can only have one movie loading. I am not sure how to get each one to play upon click of the respective btn.
Here is some of the code I think is pertinent if figuring how to go about this:
ProjectOneButtons class
//I have each picture loaded through an array and each button is waiting for the right code through a Switch statement:
public function onButtonClick(e:MouseEvent):void {
var releventImageAray:Array = this["rowOfImages" + MovieClip(e.currentTarget).row];
var imageWanted:String = relaventImageArray[MovieClip(e.currentTarget).column];
switch (imageWanted) {
case "Video1" :
[Code] .....
The reason I included a bunch of code is to show that there is a play/pause button that is supposed to play the movie. But the thing is I only have the one movie referenced and I am not sure how to have it variable as to which movie is played and make it depend on the button that is clicked from the button class above. All of this code works as it is and I am getting no errors.
I have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?
Using Flash CS5 Professional I have created a symbol, dragged it onto the stage, and given it an instance name of GreenLight1. If I want to make this visible from the document class, I can simply do the GreenLight1.visible=true; and poof it's good to go when I test the file. As long as I stay in the document class I am good to go, but now I'm trying to move to another class and hitting ALL kinds of trouble just trying to get Flash to allow me to access this simple object. All I am looking to do is have this GreenLight1 go invisible (visible=false) when a certain condition occurs in this new class and Flash just won't let me access GreenLight1 at all. Things I've tried thus far:
stage is passed to the class and is referenced by _stage and is working just fine when I do _stage.addchild or anything like that. So I have tried "_stage.GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property GreenLight1 not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value." My document class extends Sprite, so I figured I'd try the root function. So I tried "Sprite(root).GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "1119: Access of possibly undefined property GreenLight1 through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite." I tried to create the Resource class as described therein. To which I came across the same problem that I started with in that it doesn't know what GreenLight1 is to begin with so I got "1120: Access of undefined property GreenLight1." Here is my code for Resource.as (am I supposed to pass something to this class from the document class?)
Given that both of these calls to getQualifiedClassName return the same thing (mx:Label), how would one go about programatically differentiating between an instance of a class and a reference to the class...
var lab1:Label=new Label(); var lab2:Class=Label; var qcn1:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab1); var qcn2:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab2);
In other words, how could I know that lab1 is of type Label, while lab2 is type "Class". typeof() simply returns "object" for both... getQualifiedClassName returns "mx.controls::Label" for both...
I am doing a looping background with 2 identical BG movieClip (B1 and B2). Those 2 are "new" by the same class.
var B1:MovieClip = new BG(); var B2:MovieClip = new BG();
But because this BG class picture is loader from the internet and the picture is rather big. When I addressed its loading by using progressEvent. The picture is really loaded 2 times. Is there anyway I create B2 based on B1 without using new BG() again? Since it definitely makes a new BG with Loader code inside.
I have a series of mc's on the stage: but1, but2, but3 and I have an xml file which leads to an image. I want each button to access the respective image. This is the code:
[code]...
I think this is the line with the problem var mc = "but"+(i+1);, because when I place but1, the but1 works.
Does anybody know which is the problem, or does anybody know a tutorial?
the website that im working on has 5 main buttons which then navigate you to a certain frame on the timeline which will display its respective information. but within one of those pages/frames i have 3 more buttons that i want to be active and take you to another frame on the timeline.
but when i try activating them with the same as3 code that i used on the other 5 main buttons, they do not work.
I have a fla wherein when I Roll Over on the respective regions some text and images are displayed in the respective position ( text loaded in a dynamic text field). Now all these info are from XML file. I want to format it but have no idea how to do this one. I like to make it underline, want to make some paragraph , like to make some text bold and so on ...........
I want to retrieve the var reference of an instance of a class from within the class. For example:
ActionScript Code: var ref:MyClass = new MyClass (); //then via some method, I would like to get the var ref inside the class ref.getRef(); //returns "ref" instead of [object Object]
[Code]....
You may ask why, well I want to do some spring cleaning inside this manager class I am making. Of course the above is a simplistic version of what I am trying to do.
i have created two arrays i.e questArray=("identify movieclip car","identify movieclip cycle","identify movieclip bus"); answerArray=(car_mc,cycle_mc,bus_mc); here when ever the question is displyed the user has to click the correct movie clip.. i.e if the question is displayed as "identify movieclip cycle" then the user has to click the cycle movie clip. here the questions will be shuffled when ever we run for output and respective target should be matched with the question. can any one give the code for my above logic
I'm working on my personal portfolio site and desperately need help with some AS3. my knowledge about AS3 is very rudimentary. Hope anyone who's I want to change the pointer cursor to custom movieclip when mouseover different invisible buttons. These buttons are mainly forward & backward button for my gallery. I got some help from other site but still unsolved. Please take a look at my fla attachment to point out what's wrong with the coding. To elaborate a little bit more as what I wish to achieve you can take a look at the sample URL...I just need the pointer cursor to turn to custom mc when it mouseover the hit area of the respective buttons.
I want to make a movie object move up & down when I click on the respective buttons. Now I can do this, thats easy... but what I want is when I hold down on the buttons that it moves on its own? And I don't have to go "*clicky* *clicky* *clicky* *clicky*" (thats the sound your mouse makes) To move the object up and down. Is this even possible? (enter newbie joke here)... Heres the code I got: on (press, release, keyPress "<Up>") { _root.block._y = _root.block._y + 4;} Now the other thing I want to do is have it stop at a certain height. Both at the top and the bottom of the screen. The idea being that someone can't scroll the object off the screen online tutorials? new career move?
I have a FLA (say Main.FLA) document class with a child MovieClip on the stage: into the child MovieClip I load other swf files: each of the files contains its own Document Class (every swf is a somewhat independent application, say quizzes and so on).For some reason I must use the Main document class to store data (scores or so) from the child swfs loaded into the Main swf. HOW do I reference the Main class? I can't find a way.[code]and dispatch an Event this way from the loaded swf document class to the Main class:[code]Now, first of all I don't know if this could even work. Secondly, I tried to make it work by adding an event listener to my Main class but id did not work.
I've got this interactive poem I've been working on for a class. I've basically finished each "episode" seperately. I made a parent document which essentially loads one of the ten child documents onto the respective key frame. Here's a sample of the code for the first key frame of the parent document:
Well Two things are messed up about it, well my "ChildTimeline2" variable will off and on assosciate itslef not with the main time line of a child document, but of a nested symbol inside said child document. Even worse, the "gotoAndStop();" command I will give sometimes applies to Parent document... yaay! but often it will apply to the child document. The end result being this horrible looping moment where you are stuck in one child document for all time.
I wish I could attach the documents but they exceed the 300KB. how I can get Actionscript to listen fro the last frame of the maintimeline of the child document, or tell flash to gotoandStop for the parent document
Does anyone know how to extract a class reference from an SWC file? I know I can right click / "Go to definition", and view the class definition. I need to extract these for each class in an SWC. Can anyone provide a method to do so automatically?
question about file reference: i have a file reference that can browse for media files (*.flv, *.f4v, *.wmv, *.wma, *.mov) i am trying to load the file Reference in to a video component. i do that by:
I pose this question to you. I have created a video player that functions off of the Video Class, netConnection and NetStream and up until this very moment works 100% as it should.The hang up I'm getting is that I have a onMetaData function that checks ALL of the flv's or f4v's metadata as it is loaded into the player, so i can use it to control some other elements of the player. Here is the code I am using:
Code: my_ns.onMetaData = function (md:Object) { for (propName:String in md){;
I am trying to put together a class for playing video using the Video object. So far, I have only been successful in getting the Video object to fully work when not using a class setup. In the documentation, I have read that to use the Video object you have to actually drag/create the video object onto the stage. So, in my next attempt, I created the video object onto the stage within a MovieClip but still trying to use a class/linkage setup with the Video inside inside of a MovieClip container. No luck there either. Here is the basic AS2 script that is linked to a MovieClip that contains the Video object ("video" instance) within it.
Code: class VideoTest { private var nc:NetConnection; private var ns:NetStream;
[code].....
I am getting the following error with this script.
Code: Line 14: There is no property with the name 'video'. Line 15: There is no method with the name 'video'.
I'm trying to get a small popup (a volume bar) to work from within a class.I made a piece of actionscript code that creates an empty movieClip and draws the bar into it and made it onto a class. The only thing I now have to do to add the bar to a programm, is create an instance of that class. Nothing needs to be added to the stage.The problem I encounter is that I need the bar to stay on top. New movieclips always get higher depths (using getNextHighestDepth()), so that's a problem.Calling swapDepths() for every new movieclip is far too complex and afaik there is no such thing as "bring to front" in actionscript, it only exists at design time, not at runtime.
So I though I'd use 2 layers/movieclips in the timeline, one for the volume bar and one for the rest, and add an empty movieclip to both.This way I know that all children I add to one movieclip will alway lay below anything I add to the second movieclip. (or is there an easier way to accomplish what I need? Levels maybe? I've never looked into levels, I only know they exist when loading a clip)This means I need to add a some extra stuff to the stage at design time, but if this fixes the issue.. ah well.But how can I access that movieclip from within a class? The reference "_root.volumeBarPlaceholder" works from within the main actionscript, but not from within a class because I get the compiler error "There is no property with the name '_root.volumeBarPlaceholder'";
How do I reference the stage from a class? I need to add eventlisteners to the stage for mouse movement. I also need to add custom cursors. I always get an error when I try to reference stage. anything. Or event if I do this:
I have a dynamic textfield on my stage that I was to change from with a class method. I have tried all permutations of "parent", "stage" and "root" to try to access this item but none are working.
I have a class consisting of a nested array called twoDArray.
public class TestArray { public function TestArray() { var twoDArray:Array = new Array(new Array("one","two"), new Array("three", "four")); }
[Code]...
I thought I would be able to reference OrbArray for example using trace(OrbArray[0][0]); giving me the output I am looking for of "one". When I attempt this I get ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property 0 not found on com.orbclasses.TestArray and there is no default value.
