View 4 RepliesI found a flash movie on the internet and I modified it to meet my needs and works perfectly, but when I uploaded to my website it doesn't load correctly: it should have load the spiral carousel photoslide but instead it loads only the background photo. The flash movie is inside a folder with all the flash files included including the actionscript files, I uploaded that folder to my website and in my index.html page I've put my flash movie.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to load the contents of a web page into flash, however I keep getting undefined when I trace the data. For example:

It points to the right address, why isn't my data loading though? Do I need to have a crossdomain policy?

View 1 RepliesI seem to have an issue with a flash I have written. The person who I made it for is telling me that first time he loads the page with the Flash in it, it loads fine. However, at this point if he navigates to another portion of the site, then goes back to the Flash page, he says it freezes on the loading bar. Consistently everytime, but only on his work computer, not home computer or lap-top. I think it might be a caching issue in IE, but I am kind of stumped, anyone ever experience this?

The thing is that when my swf finishes loading I can see it is created, because of some trace calls, although its obviously not added to the display list.
How I can load an external .txt document into a designated dynamic text box in my flash document. I've tried the two tutorials I could find on flashkit.com and neither of them worked for me. I did everything as told and still the text file didn't load. When I enter the actionscript into the editor, I'll click check syntax and I get an error!
Here's the code I have in the first frame of my actions layer:

I'm taking a website i put together, and plopping it on a DVD.
There are 3 parts to it.
One, is the flash .exe, which brings up a small splash page with general info on me. At the bottom there are two links to webpages i made. I would like to keep all the websites files ON the DVD, and not have the end-user need to have an internet connection, although in these times, i guess i could get by that way.
2nd part, is the webpage's main page. The main page contains a flash frame, in which there are six buttons, each with AS(2) looking to a folder on the DVD, to bring up another URL in the same window. Ru:

weird thing is, this works when on the hdd, but as soon as i put it on the DVD and try to run it from there, the main page doesn't connect/open the link I specified. I've also tried it:

and that doesn't work either. i'm not if i'm missing something small, but if need be, i can post a chopped down zip or rar with the files needed for someone to take a look at.
So here's our project hosted by our school. [URL] We dont have a preloader so you have to wait til it's loaded. After the dialogue, you will enter the first GAME (training phase). We call it MEMORY MATRIX. The game is an external swf so it is expected that it will load right away after the button is clicked. The problem is it wont function the way it is expected to and the sound wont load also.
Actually we have 6 external SWFs all in all to be loaded by the main swf. 2 external sounds and 2 external JPEGs and memory matrix is just one of the external files. The paths are correctly set. There are no sub folders. The index.htm is placed together will all the files needed for the game. If I run this using my files here on my desktop, it functions well.
Is it possible after embedding a flash exe in to PowerPoint document that we can make flash buttons tell the ppt document to go to a certain slide.

This code works perfect for loading variables in a &var1=1&var2=2& etc...But how can I load variables from the page?like do I need to put in &array_name[incrementing_var]=value& and then when i go to access it it should be loader.data.array_name[0] but this doesn't work for me? I realize my URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES is for variables but can i still pass arrays with this? or do i need a new format? or do i need to pass the values as variables and convert them into an array in my AS?
We have a requirement to show documents (if we have URL for a document) within Flash. We have a need use embedded document viewer for MS Office and PDF documents. Are there any Flash controls available to acheive this?

I have a movie which is placed on the stage in the authoring environment, this movie is called LiftMovie. When the user clicks on a button in LiftMovie, it loads another movie into a placeholder called MallPlaceHolder and the LiftMovie has its visibility set to false.From the document class of the movie loaded into MallPlaceHolder, if the user clicks on the image of the Lift in the mall, I want it to make the LiftMovie visible again.

I have created a image gallery. it uses a document class and several supporting classes. It works great. I need to load that swf gallery.swf into a another movie. When I try to do this I get this error. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at oxylus.rotator::Main()oxylus.rotator.Main is my document class for the gallery.swf that is being loaded into another flash movie.I don't get why it would cause errors as its a compiled swf and should not have references to that class.

When person goes to site [URL] they are presented with a different .swf file each time they visit or refresh the page - currently I have three different .swf files that can served up.
What I've done so far to make this outcome a reality: I included a javascript array in the .html document that selects one of three .swf files to present in the page. Here is the javascript:

Well the shiny new app is now 830K and needs to be preloaded. Simple eh? I've got a preloader that works nicely but I've been trying all day to find a reasonable way to load a swf that was compiled as a document class. My solution was to make a bare bones swf that would preload my main app swf:

This is simple, however I am having trouble. I am adding a swf to the stage in my Document class (Test.as) - it works. I am trying to add the same swf to the stage in a different class called Control.as, it doesn't work. Can someone please help and explain what I am doing wrong?

That's the error message I get when it tries to play. What I have is an swf that loads another when its done, the new swf is blank but has a document class to an AS file. It seems the problem lies when a function is not properly being added to the stage.

My listener is registering before the event is dispatched, based on my output window, however I never get the "Open Doors" trace statement to fire.
i work at this place that does tons of partner sites for our main company, that all the same site, just with different color schemes and logos. i'm in the middle of redoing a lot of the elements and making them flash based. i realized if i can have a way of maybe dynamically loading the colors on the page from an exteral php or xml document, that i would save myself and other much work in the future. does anyone know if a way to do this? to load the color of something from an external document? i'm taking about fill colors here. i think i've seen it done with componients, but is there a strictly actionscript method?

View 2 RepliesI'm loading an XML document that contains properties about "slides" in a presentation. When the XML loads each slide builds as an object with it's params. Everything works perfect except now I need to add graphics, instead of just text, to the stage based on the slide object params. I have an object in the library being exported as "StateMap". In my xml params of the slide it's name is StateMap. How can I convert the string StateMap into a display object and then add it to the stage?
So if Slide 1B has 4 lines of text and an image from the library, I want to build the 4 lines on the stage and then place the image on the stage. The image is exported for actionscript in the library but I cannot get the xml to store a name or reference and figure out how flash converts that to a display object.
