ActionScript 3.0 :: Making A Pull-up Window WITHIN The Document?

I'm having trouble creating a popup window WITHIN my document... after googling, I've only come up with HTML pop-ups outside of the document.This is the only example I could find quickly... if you wait for the flash header to load and then click on the red brain, that's exactly what I'm looking for:To be honest, I don't even know where to begin, other than with a movie clip. However, I don't know how to tie the movie clip into the document without changing the background or anything

I am making a project to pull the external images, but this total bad one, what I would like to know is, I make to pull 5 external images showing one loading before show the images, I only start to show the images when all the images already will be pulled. Somebody knows as to make? or some tutorial one?

About to pull out my hair...I've loaded an external text document into the dynamic text field fine, but am unable to make any html tags within that document work once it's up on the web. I'm trying to add links within the document.

Should i add something to this to enable the html tags to work??

I have a Flash CS4 document and I am attempting to resize the stage to accomodate its current contents.When I do so, the stage becomes *much larger* than the apparent contents, and I am trying to figure out why. I have literally examined every frame of the animation, and selected every individual object to see if the selection bounds indicate a rogue "large object"...but none indicate this...what sort of things about the contents might cause this that I am missing?

I have seen many websites having full browser window, I have tried doing that with a plain color, it worked with horizontal but didn't worked on the vertical manner. What size should I keep for the flash document so that it is fitted in the browser sizes.

how do I add a child to the main stage from a child movieclip?Basically, I have a movieclip linked to an external actionscript class. When the user clicks a button in the clip, I want to open a pop_up window on the main stage.When the user clicks a "close" button on the pop-up window, it should close.Can all the event handler code for this pop-up reside in the movieclip class even though the object is in the display list for the stage?

I want to make the menu page load in the same window.Right now, if you click on the index page, it will open the menupage in a new window. I know I need to use _self, or _parent. But Icouldn't figure out where to insert it.

I'm getting the hang of Actionscript 3 after a lot of reluctance to move to it, and finding it a fun language to work with. However, I'd like to build a play field that is bigger then the actual screen - a basic "game camera" setup that scrolls a map or scrolls around it.

I'm trying to make a console for text based i/o. The output window needs to be able to print char by char in multiple colors, wrap horizontally and scroll vertically.Most of that isn't a problem with the default TextField class, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the colors right.If I use the htmlText property and wrap each character with "<font color=000000></font>" it starts a new line each time I add text.TextFormats don't seem to work at all for some reason. I do something like this:

...and then add the new text but nothing changes. Even if it worked, could I even use multiple TextFormats in a single textfield?I've been reading about this new "Flash Text Engine", and I'm wondering if there's some way that can help me, but I'm having trouble finding enough examples to understand how it works.

how do you make an image pop up in a window javascript style, from flash?
i have a variable in flash, equal to something like "images/image.jpg", and I want to make a button so when you click it it opens up a popup window thats a certain size, without menubars/scrollbars etc, to display that image, like a javascript on your standard HTML.
I read that flash has a javascript API, so there must be a way to do it huh? Is it getURL stuff, maybe with a POST of my variable?

I am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked? Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.

what I want to do is that first you can preview all the skateboards, but when I click on a certain skateboard model I want sort of a fixed pop-up window, at the same time as the background (the usual webpage) gets toned down and you cannot access the background page without closing down the "fixed pop-up window".It is used on many pages so probably you know what I want to achieve.

I'm trying to create a pull down menu. Not one that drops down when rolled over but one that drops down when clicked and stays down until an item is selected. Once an item is selected or the menu is clicked out of it retracks again.
My strategy is to create a movie clip for the initial menu that when clicked jumps to another movie clip where ther menu is extracted and houses movie clip buttons that hightlight when rolled over and when clicked redirect to another movie clip related to the button that was selected.
is this the proper way to do this? And second: can you offer some direction for the action script?

EDIT: New problem, post #5 Say I have a flash website made, and to allow for minor information changes to be easily made by someone without flash, they can simply open, edit, and reupload to the webserver a text file that contains that page's info.So, how can I have flash pull text from a file, and always do that every time it's ran (ie, not have to republish a new swf)?

I think that you can do this using html but if you have a PDF in your root directory will Flash be able to link to bookmarked pages in that document?

I have a script that always returns iframe HTML back to flash. I was looking to get help on how to build some RegEx code to only find the URL. I would only like this substring so I can use it in another script.Here is the iframe code the I want to search for and return the substring:

In CS4, using AS 2.0, I'm using loadMovie to pull in different ads (swfs).This is working great, but one swf is not getting along. It was coded in AS 3.0, and some content beneath masks is not displaying correctly.I obtained the original fla file, but still can't come up with a solution.I tried setting it to 2.0, but then none of the AS works.I don't know Actionscript very well so rewriting the ad's functions is not an option.convert the swf I'm trying to load in? Or an alternative to loadMovie in 2.0?

I am using flash CS4, AS2 and have had a client request for something that I'm not sure is possible.
I have created a calculator that calculates the cost savings that my client offers their customers. There are many options available in the calculator and it is quite in depth. At one point there is a pull down menu where the site visitor can choose their product, then enter the amount they pay for it currently. If their product is not listed, the site visitor can choose "other" from the list.
Is it possible that when the client selects "other", the text IN the pull down component for that option could be dynamic, so that the site visitor can enter the name of their product? The product they enter does not need to be submitted anywhere, nor does it need to remain upon that visitor's next visit. It simply needs to be there for the duration of their current session, to help the client keep track of what product they are comparing.
