what I want to do is that first you can preview all the skateboards, but when I click on a certain skateboard model I want sort of a fixed pop-up window, at the same time as the background (the usual webpage) gets toned down and you cannot access the background page without closing down the "fixed pop-up window".It is used on many pages so probably you know what I want to achieve.
View 2 RepliesI am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked? Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.
View 6 Repliesmaking a sort of increasing transparency layer..say i have a movieclip which is scrolling back and forth horizontally ..as it reaches its extremes ( were i want it to start being hidden) i do not want it to be completly hidden right away .. but i want it to look more and more hidden the further into the extreme it goes , so it looks as if its fading when it scrolls to the side.

Im working on a website for a company that specializes in creating custom sound proof boxes for recording and whatnot. The actual site is done completely in html and the shopping cart is html. You can see how i have the thing layout out here:[URL]So they are supposed to have the option to completely customize a soundbooth in flash.
Step1 Involves has them pick out the size of the box. If its 4x4 or 8x12 and so on.
Step2They have to pick the color of the box.
Step3 They drag and drop Windows(They can only place 2 and only at certain spots)on the box.
Step4They pick where the door goes by dragging it and dropping it over the box.
Step5They pick where they want the ventilation box.
And then its done.Now once they have done all of that it takes that sound booth they have created and exports all the data to the html shopping cart ready to purchase.
Now this is pretty complicated for me since I have a pretty basic understanding of actionscript. I just got up too speed on variables for goodness sake a little while ago. And im just not sure where to start. Would i be using strings for all the variables so that depending on what option they click on its storing the information that way or arrays or what? Any tuts or things you think i should read up on to help me would be awesome im just not sure where to start.
What is the event that gets fired when you click on a datagrid column to sort it? I could use that to know which column is getting sorted and hence have a common sortcomparefunction for all columns.

So, every frame have one own XML file...When you choose some thumb or list line, you must came to this image in the gallery. The output window needs to be able to print char by char in multiple colors, wrap horizontally and scroll vertically.Most of that isn't a problem with the default TextField class, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the colors right.If I use the htmlText property and wrap each character with "<font color=000000></font>" it starts a new line each time I add text.TextFormats don't seem to work at all for some reason. I do something like this:

i have a variable in flash, equal to something like "images/image.jpg", and I want to make a button so when you click it it opens up a popup window thats a certain size, without menubars/scrollbars etc, to display that image, like a javascript on your standard HTML.
I read that flash has a javascript API, so there must be a way to do it huh? Is it getURL stuff, maybe with a POST of my variable?

I want to make the thumbnails scroll left and right when a button the left and right side is clicked instead of the mouseover left/right scrolling. Essentially when the button is release I want the xml images to scrool to the next set. I have experience making that work with images embedded in flash but not with XML feed images.
What would i have to change to make the file work?
I am using Flash CS3 and am attempting to simply launch a new window from a .swf ad when clicked. For the publisher I have to use the clickTAG property to track the ad. I have made an invisible button (just the hit state the same size as my stage) and am placing this code on my button on the timeline:

I have a component based on canvas, and within that component I have two images. I have the component listen for a click and when that event occurs one image goes transparent and the other becomes visible. This part works perfect. Now, on clicking that component, I also want to do something to the parent canvas, I already have this working for more basic types (image, canvas, text, etc) but the problem with my component is that the click event has the internal image as the target, so what I want to happen to the outside canvas is happening to the canvas of the component. How do I make my component as a whole the target of any clicks on it?

I am trying find the correct as3 code to make a button on Click, open a pdf in a new window. I have tried different ways, but when I add the code not only does it give me errors, but it makes my swf flip through all the pages instead of stopping on load. It is fine before I enter the code for this button. Just to let you know, this button is within a movie clip on the main stage. I really wanted it in a MC within another MC, but can't figure out where to put the code.
Should it go on the main timeline, where all the rest of the code is, or should it go within the MC?

Everything works, its fine...in my flash movie you would click on a icon to see the pic in a new window...okay that works...but i want the user to be able to click on another pic and have the last window they open resize to the size of the pic...Its not doing that...it does open the pic in the same window but not resized...it stays the same size as the first pic they clicked on...what i have done was for every pic i would change newWin1 to newWin2 and so on...but that just opens it in another window.So is there a way that i can make it so when i click on a pic it resizes the first window that was open?
i have a few buttons that use loadmovienum to load a few clips into levels. The code on each button is something similar to:

But because the print_index movie slowly scrolls across the stage rather than immediately replace it, there is a moment where the button turns completely invisible after the click. Perhaps the bigger problem is that it doesnt make any of the accompanying buttons invisible like it is supposed to- only the one that is clicked.
