Does anyone know how to:stop a movieclip on mouse click, make the movieclip wait for, say, 3 seconds and then assume playing again from the same frame that it stopped on

(The movieclip is an instance on the main stage, the actual footage is placed in a seperate mc)

Im using Flash 8 (gave up on 10 as I realised I would have to post questions here on how to make a simple button )

ActionScript 3.0 :: Duplicate MovieClips Stop All On Start And Play Only One On MouseEvent

Sep 2, 2009

I have a bunch of copies of the same MovieClip that are dynamically created I want them to be stopped when the swf first starts.When I click on one of them I want that particular one to play.I think that I've figured out how to play a single MovieClip with event.currentTarget.play(); but I am stuck on how to stop all the clips from the start.I thought I could just use a instanceName.stop(); in my for loop, but no go.[code]I'm an artist working on a piece where I am cataloging sound recordings from people (eventually recorded live from the site... but that's a battle that I'll deal with in phase 2 and after I have a bit more actionScripting under my belt).I just wanted to explain myself a bit since Kglad, Ned, and dmennenoh have helped me a bunch through the development of the project.If your interested you can check out some of my works on my website.I know,I need to update the site, but its more fun to work on new projects.

ActionScript 3.0 :: MouseEvent.Mouse_Over / Mouse_Out - Continuously Flickers And Doesn't Stop

Jan 24, 2011

I'm trying to create a preview of which tower is selected for my game. I've set all of the 'background' of the level up with a class called EmptyBlock, which has buttonmode set to false. I then added event listeners to each one (this.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, onMouseOver ); ) for both MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_OUT. Inside my onMouseOver function, I'm manipulating the x/y position of a MovieClip, and setting it's visible status to true. Inside the onMouseOut function, I'm setting the x/y position of the MovieClip to -25, -25 (Offstage, just hiding it from view), and setting it's visible status to false.

However, when I run the code and hover over this class (EmptyBlock), the MovieClip I'm manipulating flickers. It continuously flickers and doesn't stop. I tried creating the MovieClip's class and removing it (Creating in OnMouseOver and removing it in OnMouseOut) but that too flickered. Traces say that it's running the MouseOut constantly while the MovieClip is over it but not when it's not. What am I doing wrong here? I'm probably making a stupid mistake but...

On a second, smaller note: Once this MovieClip's class is created, it obviously intercepts the clicks I want to go to my EmptyBlock class. Is there anyway to forward the click onto my EmptyBlock class? The MC is not a child of my EmptyBlock class (but it is added as a child after the EmptyBlock class).

I have a website in Flash CS4. When testing the movie, my swf file plays. When I access another menu button, the movie still plays and you still hear the sound. I have the skin where the user can stop the movie before going to other pages in the site but my Question is: How can I get the movie to stop playing if another menu button is clicked? I ask because when I go to another page and come back, the video is not showing but I still hear the audio.

Flash :: AS3 MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE Event Stops Responding After MouseEvent.CLICK Call?

Nov 6, 2010

I have several stage event handlers to enable mouseovers over several dynamically generated moviecilps on the stage that then change their alpha to indicate the mouse is over that particular mc... fairly trivial (mcOver handler). Additionally, I also want to know what MC is clicked, so I update a public variable (public var activemc:Number) with the ID of the dynamic movieclip when the mouse is over it (using a hitTest to check, which is why the EventListener is added to stage and not to the MC), which is checked in the mcClicked handler:This is in the constructor:

//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startDrawing);
//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stopDrawing);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);[code]....

However, the mouseover behaviour (alpha 0 when over, alpha 1 when out) stops working as soon as I click on any movieclip on the stage, and the mcClicked ID checking (below) stops working completely. I don't know if this is to do with focus:

private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
}

I then tried adding the event handler for the stage mouse_move again and this gets the mouseover working again but only for 1 more click, after which it stops again:

private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);

Actionscript 3 :: Cancelling MouseEvent.CLICK After MouseEvent.MOUSE-DOWN

Aug 11, 2011

I have a MOUSE_DOWN handler that creates a CLICK event listener on a child object. Naturally, as soon as you release the mouse button, if you happen to be over the child object, the CLICK event fires.I was disappointed to discover that event.stopImmediatePropagation doesn't interrupt the CLICK event from registering the MOUSE_DOWN as part of its detection cycle. It makes sense that it doesn't but still... disappointing.A MouseEvent.CLICK consists of detecting a MOUSE_DOWN on the object and then if it's followed by a MOUSE_UP without leaving the object, he event fires. I had hoped that by cancelling the MOUSE_DOWN event, it would clear that out of the CLICK buffer, but no such potatoes, alas.This could all be handled with a flag and a couple more MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_DOWN handlers, but dang, smacks of effort

ActionScript 3.0 :: Multi Video Player - Audio From The Last Video Remains Playing Even When Prompted To Stop??

Jun 2, 2010

I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. The link to the player is[url]....Even if its a link to a tutorial or something.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Video Stop Video When Leaving A Frame?

May 11, 2010

I know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.

How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:

import fl.video.VideoEvent;
function onClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {    if( showreel.playing ){        showreel.stop();}    gotoAndStop(evt.currentTarget.name);}
motion.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);web.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);logo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);photo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make The Movie Clip Stop On Rollover?

Jun 26, 2007

Basically I have a flash swf file (main.fla/main.swf) with 4 different movie clips.I figured out how to make the movie clip stop on rollover but now I am stuck on trying to load some xml content in my flash swf file.I have loaded xml in flash before but for some reason I cannot figure this one out. I have included my flash source file for anyone that can help.You can download it here:

[url]

Also Included is a file called "main-1-visual.gif" in a the folder called "What it should look like". I numbered the xml variables that need to be loaded:

1. The logo at the top
2. The title
3. The subtitle
4. The content text
5. Another title
6. Related links (This needs to link to specific URL links)

What I am trying to accomplish is this:

When you rollover one of the molecules (balls) that specific movie clip pauses (This works fines right now). BUT I also need to have a xml file specific to that molecule (ball) to load on the right side (see image "main-1-visual.gif") in it's appropriate movie clip. I also need the loaded xml to stay active until you rollover a different molecule (ball).

ActionScript 1/2 :: Scroll Panel - MovieClip Fade In And Stop On RollOver

Dec 30, 2010

I have a long screen shot that I have put in a scroll panel. I want the user to be able to point to a specific field and then have a tool tip fade in, hold for as long as it takes to read, and then fade out onRollout. To implement this I covered all the fields in the scroll panel with a transparent button symbol. Then for each field, I create two moviclips. The first fades in on rollover and stops. The second one starts visible then fades out on rollout.

However it seems that the more of these I do, the more unstable the code gets. In some instances it works just as designed. In other instances somtimes the tool tip doesn't appear, somtimes the fade tween dosn't play. And another issue is that the longer I play the .swf the more unstable it becomes. A snippet of my code for one field/button combination is shown below. I'm very new to AS. How can I Improve the performance?

selectionTxtOut._visible = false;selectionTxtIn.visible = false;
selectionTxtIn.stop();selectionTxtOut.stop();
sp.content.Sel.onRollOver = function() {
selectionTxtIn.play();
selectionTxtIn._visible=true;
[Code] .....

I have the same code for each field in the scroll panel. I put stop(); as the last statement in the Action layer. All the code and the movie clips reside in the first frame.

Professional :: Creating Rollover Sound - Stop Once Move The Mouse

Feb 22, 2012

What I want to create is a group of 13 images and upon rollover each image would make a different sound. I don't want the sound to stop once you move the mouse though because I want a few different sounds playing at the same time. At this point I don't really care whether they play for their whole duration or just for another 15 seconds! I'm doing this for Uni and the guy said it wasn't that hard.

I have some basic knowledge in HTML code, but I am a complete newbie to flash. I've downloaded Flash C5 and that's about as far as I've got! I'm not entirely sure which template if any I would need to use. I can't pay back in knowledge since I don't know anything, but I could bake you cookies?!
