I am working on a project and need to advance a movie clip with a reverse and advance button. I prefer to have the clip keep moving in a direction while a button is held down.

Does any know how to play a movie clip in reverse. I have tried the copy frames and reversing them but that does not want to work for my animation. I am just looking for a simple script that when someone mouses over the invisiible button the playhead moves forward and when they mouse off the playheads moves backward from the frame its on.

I've created a slide presentation when you click the next button the playhead advances to the next frame plays a movie clip and stops (the stop() is at the end of the movie clip script). When you click the previous button I would like the playhead to move to the previous frame, play the movie clip in reverse and stop at the beginning of the clip.

When you rollover a button called sampleText_btn, the movie clip starts playing, and when you roll out of it, the movie clip reverse/un-grows the plant. The problem is, the rollover/rolloff feature only works the first time you rollover. I believe the problem is that the rolloff function reversing the movie clip does not get disabled and it continues to counteract the rollover function of playing the clip forward.[code]...

I have a movie clip which I want to play part of it in reverse when I click the button.
For example before I click the button, the movie clip will play from frame 150 to 155 then stop. Then when the button is clicked, the movie clip should play from frame 155 to 150.
Is there a way to do it using ActionScript 3?
I have movie clip buttons, that on rollover playthrough from frame 2 to 15, then rollout play the animation through til the end to return to the 1st frame. Is it possible to have the movieclip on rollout play through in reverse to the frame 1 and reverse the animation?
Because sometimes you may get to frame 8 or so, and it keeps playing even know you have already rolled out of the movieclip. Is there any code for this or an .fla file someone could give me.

View 2 Repliesi am new to this site and also to AS i am trying to create a an expand and collapse functionality in which i want a movie clip to shrink and disappear when i click on a button and reappear when i click it again the solution that i came up with was i animated the movie clip shrinking and disappearing and now i think playing the timeline in reverse will solve the other half and i also added the stop script at the 1st and last frame of the movie clip.

here is my issue, so i have a main page with a slideOut movieclip which basically is a movie clip button and the "over" state sends a tray out of the movie clip with info and anothe rmovie clip button. i cant seem to get that movie clip button to root.gotoAndPlay("frameLabel");i have the actionscript on the same frame as the movie clip i need to act as a button. but it just doesnt seem to react to it.i have tried going to the main timeline and doing

I am looking to create a flash based image slide show, but have some restrictions. Can't use XML to store the images, b/c this is going into powerpoint, and the client uses an older version which doesn't support external files. Also, this won't be advanced by a button, click, but will need to be timed between transitions. There is voice-over, music involved so the transitions times may not all be the same. I did a Google search, but every example involved XML and/or button controls.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to place buttons inside a movie clip to control the timeline of the same movie clip. This does not seam to work like buttons on the main timeline. When I play the movie the cursor does not turn into a hand and the rolloever affects only sort of work. I have read about controling the movie clip with buttons on the main timeline, but I need one of the buttons to change halfway through the movieclip. I want to be able to jump to interior shots while in the exterior section and vice versa. It would seem that button would work the same way inside a movie clip as they do on the main timeline, but that does not appear to be the case. I am using CS3. Action scrip 2.0 is selected, but I could change it to 3.0 if it would make a difference.
View 6 RepliesI have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function

I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

I used the Kirupa Tutorial for Advanced Rollovers to create my navigation menu and within one of the movie clips I have additional buttons that show up on the roll over.I know that you need to place the onPress code on the frame that the buttons actually live. I have a trace("mix_btn: "+mix_btn); to find out if the button is being found.
My problem is that I dont know how to get the code below to actually dynamically load and external SWF into a container on the main timeline. A friend of mine suggested a MovieClipLoader or onLoadInit Handler but I have no idea how to use those. (I'm a noob and proud of it!). (this is my latest version of a onPress.)

I have a flash site that has a presentation page it has a menu of two buttons (1) to take you to a slide show and (2) that takes you to the gallery. These are the only two buttons that seem to work in control test movie, I get no errors. The only button that is connected is the slideshow button (I haven't done the gallery yet). This button takes you to frame two. Where I have the main website. It has its own menu that spans across the entire website which is 25 frames.
Each frame represents a new page. I have mini menus at frames 3, 5, and ten. That are supposed to just advance the user to correct frame labels and stop. The only buttons that work are the ones in the first frames. The rollovers appear to work on all the pages when I advance the movie using the [ . ] key but I get no trace statement which means that it is not being acknowledged, all my buttons are named properly I believe so here is the code as well, all is in frame one:

Take a video on infoq.com (like this one: [URL]... If you play the movie linked above, you'll see the slide deck advance as the appropriate part in the movie is hit. If you advance it forward and back with the slider, you'll see that it triggers to the appropriate location in the slide deck.
