I've read about putting a search engine on a google map using as3 in Flash Professional. The problem is I can't find the proper swc file. I'm using Flash Pro CS5. Is there a relevant swc file I can use?
View 2 RepliesIts mostly the way google is set up that makes it so easy. I just happened to notice that the url for a google search is always the same except for the search variables at the end. http:[url]....So all I did was to add a textfield to get the variable to put on the end of the URL. (And a button to press)

View 2 RepliesI have a client with a flash site made in AS2, and they want their search bar, on release, to take what u input in the flash field, and to search it on a separate, already made php page, in a custom google search, within the site.I cant figure out how to get the search field to pass the text to the google custom search on this other page and search it.If anyone has I've try getUrl but that doesn't seem to be able to do what I want, I was thinking of passing a variable to the other page but I am not sure if you can pass it into a google search bar, and I am not very experienced in parsing things between different code languages so this problem is a bit out of my comfort zone.

View 3 RepliesI'm currently using the Flickr Image Search API to load the first result of a string query as a background image for my site.Here's how it's looking so far: http:[url].....The thing with Flickr though is that if you want pictures at their original or large sizes every now and then you get an error message or image saying "Image Unavailable" due to Flickr permissions and user privacy restrictions. On the other hand medium sized or detail sized images tend to get very pixelated on large monitors. I'm pretty new at this Flickr API thing so I don't know if there's a way to filter the results to show only the first one that has actual original/large size available.
Question 1) Is there a way to filter/sort through Flickr API to load only the AVAILABLE/PERMITTED images at their original/largest size?Here's the code I have so far:

2) Alternatively I was thinking that Google and Bing don't have permission/restriction issues(I think) so I was wondering if anyone knew how to set up a Google or Bing image search in Flash using AS3. The farthest I've got on this was finding this link: http:[url].... But I can't seem to get my head around how to actually build the whole search, query and load result.

I have a client whom I made an xml driven slide show for. Everything is working fine, but now they want a search box with button where the user can search through the "description" nodes of the xml file and then display that image.
I know I will use a loop to itterate through the nodes, but how do I actaully test to see if there is a node with more or less the same text that the user entered? Btw, the application is standalone, not on the net.

I have my latitude and longitude coordinates that are constantly updating depending on my location... and I want to be able to search a XML file and ask whether or not certain locations are within the 5 miles.

View 3 RepliesI've been using this method of file uploading for a bit, but it seems that Google Gears has poor support for the newer browsers that implement the HTML5 specs. I've heard the word deprecated floating around a few channels, so I'm looking for a replacement that can accomplish the following tasks, and support the new browsers. I can always fall back to gears / standard file POST's but these following items make my process much simpler:

Edit: apparently flash isn't capable of using PUT requests, so I have changed it to a "like" instead of a "must".
