ActionScript 3.0 :: New Line For XML Only Works Inside Of A Tag?

If I put the new line "&# 10;" (i know the space is incorrect, needed in this post) inside of a XML node it works fine, outside of all XML nodes it will not work. I would rather not mess around with HTML stuff if possible. So in the example below the green works, the red does not work.

how the line of sight works in 2d? Which will be really help full for my 2d experiments. The experiment am working is a simple 2d simulation. Player move in the world from one place to other , my world exactly looks like this. I did the character movement successfully from one way point to other (A to G) , my goal is - when the character passes each point it has to perform some search in that area before it leaves to next point. To achieve I felt way point is better solution , can anyone help me on this.

As soon as the player enters a room/checkpoint I will take user to next scene like this where the pickups are place some where on the canvas and my player have to collect them all and leave the area - Back to Map scene.

i have this flex app (it's a flex project created from flash builder), and it compiles fine when i build it from the IDE.it fails to compile when i do it from command line through mxmlc.i am invoking the mxmlc at the location "flash-builder-installation"sdks"flex-ver"inthe mxml file is test.mxml.i don't have any dependency on any of custom swc file.i am getting the following type errors when i compile it.[code]

I am new at flash CS4. (Upgraded to Flash CS 5 but this gives other problems in the meantime I continue with CS4)I have created webpage. Within the web page I have created Motion Tween with Motion editor and once previewed, it works fine. Going back to the stage and previewing the result shows the initial position of the Motion tween but it doesn't move and behave the way it shoud. What's missing? Where am I going wrong?

i'm using "iloveitaly"s easing scrollbar class, and it works great. however, i added an effect that i want on my scrollbar, and it doesnt work quite how it should. what should happen is when u press the dragger, it should duplicate itself and then fade out, giving it kinda a "mouse trail" type effect i guess you can call it. anyway, here is the code for the part in the class that doesnt work:

I have an animation inside a movieclip thats located on the main timeline. There is a stop on the first frame of the movieclip, and whenever I try to do the _root.MC.gotoAndPlay(2) it will play like one frame then stop.

I have a button in a Flash project I've made. It's used to jump to another place on the root timeline, labelled "Why". It used to work perfectly.I have now placed the button inside a movie clip (it has to be in an animated sequence), but now it no longer works. It appears to work fine, the rollover state works and all. I'm trying to make a login function that receives the username and password as arguments, does all the proper URLRequest and URLLoader stuff inside it, and retrieves some values from the database. Then, it puts those values inside an object (a little associative array really) and returns them. I've put 'trace' sentences all over the function, and it seems to be working without a problem and is retrieving the right values from the database. I have a simple sendAndLoad XML request that works perfectly on 95% of the computers I have used. I have check crosssite stuff and everything i can think of. Its not browser specific ,os specific, or flash version specific. On these computers I can run the same flash file on a standalone player and everything works flawlessly but inside of any browser it makes the request for the XML file and stops right there. After a while like 10 minutes flash gets tired of waiting and returns not found. I can navigate to the xml file via the same browser. Upgrading Flash doesn't help.The only thing consistent is it only happens to windows computers. The requested URL is the complete URL. I have changed this and still the same.IE or Firefox still the same. Version 9 player in both. I have montiored network traffic and see the request made and maybe a response but flash has moved.

I just tried everything to do embedFonts work correctly in CS5. In Flash CS4 there was no any problems with this. The TextField is created in AS3, I got new font called Sunset inside library and embedFonts set to true, but nothing works, there is no errors and the text is still invisible

I have a movie clip that is a navigation window and I am trying to have some tooltip hover over the buttons inside the navigation window.
If I create a button on the main stage it hovers and works fine but if I create the same clip inside the embedded navigation window the tooltip does not show up. I do not have any error messages but it is not there that I can see.

I have some movieclips with a graph (not generated, manually drawn). I want to change the thickness of the line inside the movie clip. How do I do that?
When I move the mouse over the line the graph must highligt (become thicker). I can do this with the line as a button, mouse-over graphics. But I also need to highligt the graph when the mouse is over some text (to link the graph with the text). If I have 2 - or several - buttons can I have them all show the mouse-over image at the same time, if the mouse is over just one of them?
Another ideer: I have made an actionscript the fades (using alpha 0 and 100) for 2 similar movieclips each with different thickness positioned over each other. But the initial value for both lines is a problem, only the thin line must be shown, the thick line must be alpha=0. If I set it at the start of the actionscript then it resets every time the flash starts over. Is there some way to set the inital value (alpha=0) just once? When the flash playes first time?

I am trying to implement a small web site in FLash CS3, i have done first phase means i have created 4 pages Home , About us, Group of Companies, Contact us. and i am able to control the timeline like if i click on the home its going to home page and same like if i clicked on about us its going to that page its fine, those first two pages there is no transactions but the problem is, if i clikced on the group of companies here i m trying to create the movie clips and if i clicked on those movie clips then it needs to connect the concerned company web site but here i got stucked even in contact us page also there i am trying to put some more transactions but i am unable to.[code]...

I have my stuff set up and everything works fine except for a very strange glitch.When I use the internal IP address (192.168.###.###) from a machine on the internal network, it works fine.When I use the external IP address (209.###.###.### which eventually maps to that internal IP address) from a machine out in the world, like at home or a hotel or a clients site, it works fine.But, when I use the external IP address from a machine on the internal network, everything works except the flv file doesn't stream. The HTML page displays, the swf player displays, but the flv file doesn't stream; the swf player displays the message "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again."
What could possibly make this happen? To me, it seems impossible. Could there be a setting in FMS that would cause this sort of thing? I very much doubt it is a firewall issue, because if it were, then the file wouldn't stream from outside the firewall.

I have flip_mc which contains listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc both of the above mc's contain a button name spin_btn.My flip_mc should rotate around the y axis and swapping whichever of the 2 (listSide_mc and videoInfoSide_mc) should be visible.All the rotating and adding a child stuff works fine.BUT the whole flip_mc seems to be a button, the spinIt function runs when I click anywhere on the mc, it should only happen when I click the spin_btn buttons.[code]

I have a movie clip (with instance name rectangle_mc) on the stage. Within this movie clip there are two separation animations on the timeline. The ROLL_OVER animation starts on frame "over" and the MOUSE_OUT animation starts on frame "off." If I roll over the movie clip, the initial animation plays, and when I mouse out the other animation plays to restore it to it's initial state. However, once the rollover animation has played once, it will not play again when I roll over it again, but for some reason the MOUSE_OUT plays every time.

I'm trying to work out how to create a simple demo that works as follows: A ball falls from the top of the stage.Player is able to draw a line anywhere on the stage. The ball will bounce/roll along the line such that the player can guide it at will. I don't think the coordinate rotation will be a problem for me but I can't figure out how to transform a line drawn by the player into a hit detectable sprite -- or realkly any way that I can get those line coordinates into my coordinate rotation routine. To keep it simple, I'm just working on the first part of the problem, getting the line to where I can hit test or know its position.Here is my code so far:

in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.

I'm in the process of teaching myself the components of the CS4 Design Premium package using the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. I'm currently going through the Flash CIAB and i've started using the pen tool. The task involves creating a wave like design across the stage. Whilst this in itself is simple, the final instruction is to click on the first anchor point to close the shape. In the illustration, the closed shape seems to automatically extend around the stage, however when I click on the first anchor point, the line automatically connects between the two points in a straight line.
Am I doing something wrong? The next step is to fill this area, but with the straight line effect that I am getting, this becomes impossible. I should point out that the instruction states that the pen tool line should extend off the stage. I have done this, but even then on clicking on the first anchor point the shape is closed incorrectly.

I am trying to dispatch an event but not sure when I should do it to get the right results. The first event "submitClicked" is in the right spot and works great. However, the second event "dataReady" seems like it might be a problem. I need it to be dispatched after this.compiledFormData is set.Does AS3 wait for each line of code in a function to be executed before moving on to the next line?

I am using Flex 4 and AS3 and I am trying to make it so that the user can draw a freehand line with the cursor - I have this part done.However, I also need the line to be a dashed line instead of one solid line like it is now. below is my code I am using. I have found some examples on how to do this, but they are all for straight lines, not for a freehand line.

When a Dynamic Multiple line text field is used in Flash CS3, it has a very annoying feature that auto inserts a line break at the end of inserted text. It also auto inserts a line break if no text is entered too.
I'm having a problem with this because the text is being saved from flash to a text file on the desktop. With every multi-line text field there's a nasty looking line break.
Any way of "turning off" this auto-line-break-at-the-end feature?
