ActionScript 3.0 :: Obtaining From FMS Actual Play Time Of Video

Jun 17, 2011

I have built a flash video player where-in the player is sending some data to the back-end at periodic intervals. Now I have been asked to send the actual amount of time the video was played. I cannot send netstream.time value in this case.Because the user may watch a video for first 5 mins and then seek to the say 30th minute and then close the video. So here the netstream.time value is 30 minutes whereas the actual playtime of the video is just over around 5 mins. I am not sure if the Flash media server maintains this actual playtime of a video. If it does how can I access this? And if it doesn't whats the best way to get the actual play-time?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Obtaining The Server Time, Not Client Time?

Sep 16, 2005

obtain the time (by functions similar to getSeconds) of the server the flash file is hosted on, instead of the client who is viewing the movie?

Thing is, I have a very simple clock that displays the time in New Zealand (where I will be going), but it only display the time correctly for GMT+1 right now. If a client from New Zealand or US connects, they will see the wrong time :/

So right now i use:

Code:
newtime = timedate.getSeconds() + 3600*11;
timedate.setSeconds(newtime);

Flash Dual Video Player - Load And Play Two Videos At The Same Time?

Sep 17, 2011

Has anyone seen a Flash video player out there that will load and play two videos at the same time, such as for comparing videos? A potential client is looking for something along the lines of this. I've not been able to locate anything out there,and I'm wondering if there's a usability reason for this...Obviously, you wouldn't want the audio playing for both at the same time, and the bandwidth issue for something like this might be a concern too. My feeling is that you wouldn't want to restrict a user to just playing both videos at once, but give them the option to play them separately or at the same time, with controls for each audio and playback.

Actionscript 3 :: Synchronize Timer Event To Actual Time?

Apr 19, 2010

I plan to use a timer event to fire every second (for a clock application).

I may be wrong, but I assume that there will probably be a (very slight) sync issue with the actual system time. For example the timer event might fire when the actual system time milliseconds are at 500 instead of 0 (meaning the seconds will be partially 'out of phase' if you will).

Is there a way to either synchronize the timer event to the real time or get some kind of system time event to fire when an second ticks in AS3?

Also if I set a Timer to fire every 1000 milliseconds, is that guaranteed or can there be some offset based on the application load?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Turn Crank - Can't Get To Update At The Same Time As The Actual Rotation

Nov 30, 2009

I've been experimenting with a crank that you can turn with the mouse which is supposed to make things gradually change on the stage. Everything is going smoothly, except that when the crank makes a full rotation, its angle returns to 0. I've added an AccumulatedAngle variable to keep track of this, but I can't get it to update at the same time as the actual rotation. What I'm getting is brief moments where the totalAngle value is 360 above what it should be, and the objects on screen update with that value, causing them to jump around on the screen and then jump back each time the crank makes a full rotation. I've tried moving around the order of the variable updates and I've tried moving when the boxes are updated, even putting them inside the if statements that change the crank's angle. I just can't figure this one out.

Flash :: Determine The Actual Time Interval The User Sees Between Two Successive Images

Mar 7, 2011

I would like to implement an inspection time task using Actionscript. The idea is to dynamically change the time interval between masked and unmasked images based on user responses. The "inspection time" is defined as the interval at which the user achieves certain accuracy. There are various factors affecting the accuracy of that interval: monitor refresh rate, flash vm frame rate, Timer event accuracy, render time. Anything else? How do I determine the actual inverval the user sees? High accuracy is required, since typical performance is from 20 to 80 msec on that task. I assume the limiting factor is the monitor refresh rate. If it's 60Hz, I would only be able to increment by 16.7msec.

The CPU (2xIntel Quad) is loaded less than 20% and memory used is about 2 GB (there is plenty of memory installed 32G). The OS is RedHat 5.3 64bit platform. Network uplink maximum rate is 4Gbps.I disabled the Queue but the problem still persist.

.net :: Obtaining DataTable Names From Flex

Jan 20, 2010

I have a C# web service that returns a DataSet with multiple DataTables. It's easy enough to get at the data using this web service event handler in Flex:

static public function getData_Handler(event:ResultEvent):void {
for each(var table:Object in event.result.Tables) {
// ...
}}

How can I access the name of each DataTable from Flex? When debugging, it's clear that each DataTable's name gets mapped to a property on the event.result.Tables object, but I don't see a programmatic way to get a string representation of the name.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Skin Work And Play Video Locally And NOT Live?

Jul 31, 2009

Why does my swf's skin referenced by a simple component FLA work locally but NOT live? There's no AS3 in the component FLA. It's just a one-layer component referenced to the the FLV. When I test locally, IN FLASH CS4 ONLY, and click on "Animalia - Verse From the Zoo" the FLV and skin load and the video (source FLV - "Sequence01.flv") plays. But the same thing live only loads the swf for the FLV file area but NO SKIN. Try it yourself, please:Has anyone had this problem and knows the solution? All files are in the SAME FOLDER on the web server. I've tried every URL and path combination I can think of on the website. I've tried referencing the whole URL.

Yet whatever path combination I try, either nothing happens, or I just get the FLV box but no skin. Which is what's happening now. Publish settings are set to Flash Player 10 for all files. And I've tried the component SWF WITH and WITHOUT the fl.video package (import fl.video.*. No difference. Why does the skin load and play locally but not live? It's all AS3. No AS2. And it does not seem to be a "publish settings" issue as far as I can see. The relevant code in my API is:

var AnimalFLVLoader:Loader = new Loader();
AnimalFLVLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener (MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,fAnimaliaVOn);
Animalia2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, fAnimaliaVOn);
