ActionScript 3.0 :: Odd BUG #1172 Error While Class Path Exist?
May 25, 2009
I develop my own library with some simple component classes (the name of the library is test "myLib"). Yesterday i've created a folder in my library folder "events" and create a custom Event class in there.when i try to import the class from this directory i get the error:"1172: Definition myLib.events:myCustomEvent could not be found." i've try to make a completely new and empty .fla file and paste this line in the Action panel:
import myLib.events.myCustomEvent
and again i receive this odd error while with other subfolders of my lib i have no problems.like this
import myLib.ui.*;
import myLib.ui.myCustomScroll
or
import myLib.util.CustomMath
in all these cases a have no problems exept with this custom event why is this ?
im having some troubles with as2.0 classes calling each-other. Basically, on the root timeline I have MC Called "myMovieClip" [how original] and on the first frame I have :
[Code]...
Whenever I execute this the swf just does nothing, I have tested the script so many times and it turns out that the drawBox class is never called - I always get a "Property Does Not Exist" error for MC.drawBox(100,100) I have also tried importing the class file on the 1st frame, but still nothing.... is there anything special you need to do to register a property to a flash class - in this case the MovieClip Class? or am I doing somthing completly wrong.
I'm VERY new to flash and have recently downloaded a flash photo gallery. It was advertised as CS3 and newer. 'm using CS4. It uses AS3. I simply need to make a couple of design changes, but I'm getting errors when I go to publish the Fla. All the folders and .as files seem to be in the right place and have the proper names. The gallery has been given good reviews and people seem to like it, so I'm assuming it's fine. Just probably something simple I'm missing. Is anyone able to help me through this?
I am getting this annoying error 1172 Definition utils. Fader could not be found. Everything worked fine until yesterday when I started getting this error. Looks like my utils.Fader.as file is attached to my .fla file.
I have movieclip in the library with export name: TxtPreloader in my document class (of that fla which is in the same package as the fla file) i have written this:
import TxtPreloader;
but when I try to instantiate that document class from somewhere else i get an error :
1172: Definition TxtPreloader could not be found. import TxtPreloader;
I was following this tutorial and getting this error message. I think I have the same the guy in the tutorial has, but I am getting an error message. Why? I have this in my AS: import fl.controls.*; The error reads: 1172: Definition fl.controls could not be found.
I am using Flash CS4 installed on my c drive. All of my flash files are on a local network. I got a new PC yesterday and now none of my files will publish without the code. The files and locations on the network have not changed. Everything worked fine before the PC was changed.The error I get is: 1172: Definition com.caurina.transitions:Tweener could not be found.
Hows it going, learning actionscript in college, ive done the following code from notes, but when i do a test run i get the following error messages.[code]The above is not code i will be implementing, but more a learning tool to understand the syntax, so the actual visible outcome i'm not concerned with. Just incase you're looking at that part I'm using Flash CS5, running Windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
I've recently acquired Flash CS4 Professional, and I've been attempting to complete some tutorials, and I'm currently in the process of doing the Object-Oriented Scrollbar. It's simple really...I've copied the code exactly and followed along exactly as he says in the movie, and for some reason the Tweener will not work. I've downloaded the Tweener zip folder, and placed the Tweener file itself into the same folder as my .fla file.
'm getting compile errors when I try to import it.
All files are in a folder 'com'. The document class is 'com.Main'
C:....comMain.as, Line 121046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Stem_Curve. C:...comMain.as, Line 241180: Call to a possibly undefined method Stem_Curve. C:...comMain.as, Line 81172: Definition com:Stem_Curve could not be found.
Main Code: package com { [code].........
I've used it for other swfs and have no problems importing it. I've checked those projects, but can't see anything different.
I've got my flex, php & zend project working fine on localhost but when I try to move it to production I get the following error: Class "testService" does not exist: Plugin by name 'testService' was not found in the registry; used paths: : /home/myNewFolder/services/
I was wondering if it possible to write up some AS that will take line paths that you have drawn and convert them into a Path object? For example say you drew a jagged line from left to write, would there be a way to have AS convert that into a Path object.
I was working on a project in CS3 and since i'm getting closer to completion i started porting it to CS4 flashplayer 10. (bug is also present in CS5 when exporting for flash player 10.) Whenever i run the project this line is displayed: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable $elementInstruction is not defined. along with the stack.
To start off with the Class "IS" defined "PUBLIC" (though not in capitals). The area i am getting the problem is in the below code snippet:
I think I broke my Flash. I'm using Flash CS5.5, and when I use AS3, any references to the Math class give me errors like this:1061: Call to a possibly undefined method sqrt through a reference with static type Class.1061: Call to a possibly undefined method pow through a reference with static type Class.1061: Call to a possibly undefined method pow through a reference with static type Class.The code in error is this:var dist:Number = Math.sqrt(Math.pow(initPos.x - pos.x, 2) + Math.pow(initPos.y - pos.y, 2));What the heck is going on here? Math is a top-level class, so I don't think I should be getting an error like this. Is it possible to somehow "break" the Math class? If so, how do I fix it?
I'm trying to read bmp fille byte by byte and then redraw it. For that I made a .fla file for veiwing and .as file for coding. I just started coding and made import to the follwing files in this scenario and I get errors while debugging.
1172: Definition flash.filesystem:File could not be found.1172: Definition flash.filesystem:FileMode could not be found.1172: Definition flash.filesystem:FileStream could not be found.5000: The class 'FileStreamLive' must subclass 'flash.display.MovieClip' since it is linked to a library symbol of that type.
I've seen many samples on filestreaming but all were using the mxml scripting that I don't know
I'm new to flex, actually I'm reading a simple tutorial about Flex 4 (I'm using flash builder 4.5) this is the tutorial.I added a RichEditableText and then I should specify the property selectionColor, but when I add it to the source code, the IDE give me an error like this property do not exist.
I wrote a document class using Flash Develop and compiling with the Flash IDE, to test out a Pixel Bender filter. I've been doing some tuts and other similar stuff all week with no problem. Anyway, I got a complier error, #1137, (Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 0).
In the course of troubleshooting , I commented out the offending line of code, saved and recompiled, and got the same result... Error generated by a line of code no longer in the class... I deleted the lines all together, same result.
I've tried closing and restarting flash, making a fresh FLA, a fresh AS file with a new name... and I keep getting the same result.

I have my main timeline/scene we can call it A and then Scene B is exclusively for the gallery component. When I switch to Scene B, the gallery component functions as expected. I place a button on that scene that takes the user back to the Scene A (main timeline). I use the
The really strange part is that even though I get this error at compile time, the actual event handling functions (ex. loadProgressRoutine) actually run when they're supposed to. So even though Flash is complaining about the properties in the MovieClipLoader not existing, it uses them when it has to...
"why is Flash complaining" and "how do I make Flash *stop* complaining?"
I am trying to embed a font. It is the same font but, different sizes ( I dont know if that matters, one size is 11 the other is 15). I set up my actionscript as so (please see below), but I continue to get this error message: 1151 A conflict exist with definition dtText2 in namespace internal. WHAT I AM DOING WRONG? And do I need another set of code if I am using the same font but instead of size=15; I am using size=11;?
var font3:Font=new Font3(); var dtFormat:TexFormat=new TextFormat(); var dtText2:TextField=new TextField(); dtFormat.Font=Font3.fontName; dtFormat.size=15;
[Code]...
Why is it giving me error 1151 A conflict exist.....? I have tried changeing the name of my var dtText2, and I even instance my dynamic Text, naming it myText2 but I continue to get errors.
I am coming from flash to flashbuilder I have a directory, AS3_classes_dir, on my computer that stores all of my classes, including my greensock and papervision packages. In every flash app that I make I include that directory in the Source Path, so that I can import whatever I may need. Compiling in flash (using ctrl/enter) takes very little time; only the classes that are specifically imported are compiled.So today I did that in flashbuilder, included AS3_classes_dir via Flex Build Path/Source Path ... but now the compile time are a couple of minutes, even though I am not even importing ANY of the classes from within.
