ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing Variable From Loaded Swf To Parent With Mouse Event?
Apr 27, 2011
This has been driving me nuts. The short of it is that I have a main movie that loads smaller swfs. In the main movie, there is a textbox that holds descriptions of the smaller clips.What I am trying to do is this: When the user clicks a button in the loaded swf, a string variable "feedback" replaces the text in the description text in the parent clip.Here is the code I have. I have been searching this for a while now and have tried various things, so this may be way off base. The clips load fine and everything, I just can't figure this one piece out.I am only showing the relevant code because there is a LOT of other working code. If anyone needs more info, let me know.Main Clip
Code:
clipLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( Event.INIT, onLoaderInit );
function onLoaderInit( e:Event ):void {
I used to actuate the painter function by using a MouseEvent although I'm prefering to do it this way, but I'm having issues with an error "1120: Access of undefined property thisMouse." Error in Bold I've attempted to pass the Mouse Event to the painter function but had no luck. A simple solution (even potentially dangerous and WRONG) would be fine here, as this is part of University Coursework and I haven't been taught Classes etc. Its basically an introduction to scripting but im trying to do things slightly out of my depth
I'm building a swf wrapper which loads third-party swf games. The client would like a button in the wrapper which will dispatch a keyboard event in the loaded swf.
I'm building a swf wrapper which loads third-party swf games. The client would like a button in the wrapper which will dispatch a keyboard event in the loaded swf.
how to construct a dispatch event in the wrapper that reaches into the loaded swf?
I have a simple BOOK script where I have 10 pages (for example purposes). Each page has a vocabulary word on it. Currently, I simply created a vocabulary MC separately for each page and it works fine. Problem is, that leaves me with 10 Vocabulary pages and I would rather have 1 that loads info based on a var on the main page.
WORKING SCRIPT var loaderZ:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loaderZ.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES; loaderZ.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loading);
[Code].....
I am getting the word "depressed" from page 1 (verified by trace) Unfortuntely this does not work.
If I change the last line of code to:
VocText.htmlText = loaderZ.data = word;
Then it outputs the word DEPRESSED to the text field VocText but does not return the value from the txt file.
I am writing some codes inside a movieclip but I want to activate a mouse over event from a parent object since there is a removeEventListener method that delete the the event!Is there a way to do it in actionscript 3.0?
I have an element which listens for the MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_OUT; in that there is a child which listens for MOUSE_UP, MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_OUT. The issue is that although OVER and OUT seem to work together (And I like how that is) I need it that if the child is clicked, that the parenet doesn't recieve it. (Right now they both recieve them all, and I only want OVER and OUT to be recieved by both)
I have isometric tiles that are put together to form a map. Because the graphics are isometric, and the images themselves are rectangles (with transparent corners) I was wondering if there's way to pass a mouse event through image being clicked if it's being clicked at a point that is transparent onto the object that is layered below it. Using the bitmapData class I already know how to check if the position being clicked is transparent or not, just not the second part.
This isn't an exact duplicate of AS3: add event listener to loaded swf, actually it seems to be a mirror situation with non-mirror solution..
I have a test flash file that registers its own listener at first frame's actions.
trace("it's going to be OK"); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, aKey);
Unfortunately neither line works when .swf is loaded into another movie. Assuming that stage object is wrong for such situations, which object should be used to get listener?
Is it necessary to rewrite loader in parent swf, as said in the linked question?
I would like to pass Parameters to a functions from a button click. Currently I need to call a function that in turn passes the Parameters.
example gardengate_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick_gardengate); function onClick_gardengate(e:MouseEvent):void{ /*Sends the xml and the paintingCount_Numb to the parseXML function. This will display the text and images for each painting */ ParseXML(xmlData,0); }
I would think that i could just do this but it gives me an error. gardengate_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ParseXML(xmlData,0)); 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type void to an unrelated type Function.
I have a loaded swf (CustomClass) and I want to listen a dispatch event from the swf, but it doesn't seems to work. The relation of the dynamic class are: Code: tablet(DocClass of the swf) ---> mainmenuC I'm trying to pass a event to a function in tablet, and have the codes listen to the dispatchEvent from the function in tablet.
ActionScript Code: CustomClass.addEventListener("profile_home", currentPage) private function currentPage(event:CustomEvent):void { trace("profile home clicked") } tablet.as [Code] ..... It doesn't return any error, but why does it not pass the data?
I am trying to essentially pass a string as a function name into an event listener, but I am not sure how to approach this. Is there a way to convert a string into a function?
Here is some code I have for me to show you what I am doing.
package{ //some import statements public class changes extends MovieClip{
I have a parent sprite containing a child named controlBar, whose visibility is initially set to false. When the parent sprite is moused over, controlBar's visibility is set to true, and when the parent sprite is moused out, controlBar's visibility is set to false again, like so:[code]This works fine when mousing over and out of the parent sprite, but then when I mouse over the controlBar, the parent sprite dispatches the MOUSE_OUT and MOUSE_OVER events again, which quickly sets controlBar's visibility to false and then true, and occasionally causes controlBar to flicker. This is exacerbated when mousing around in controlBar, because it contains four spaced-apart buttons, and the parent sprite dispatches MOUSE_OUT and MOUSE_OVER events when mousing from one button to another.What's a simple way to stop the parent sprite from dispatching a MOUSE_OUT event when mousing over its child controlBar?
i am using flash cs3,i have a main movie that load many swf using a document class..i need to pass "userid" variable from the main movie to loaded swf so they can change their content dynamically.
I have 2 functions. Each one is being called by a different event listener. Both event listeners work because I am able to trace strings in both of them.. my problem is that i am trying to create a variable that is local to both functions. The first function "working" adds a number to the variable and when the second event listener triggers function "notworking" which retrieves this same variable called "counting" both functions are called automatically by event listeners.. how do I do this? i am stomped!
The below is my attempt on as3 but it doesn't work. I'd like to be able to just write this function showcontent() once and just change the parameter within it so that I can recycle this function for other mc... I hope it makes sense
Do I have to use event.target? can I not predefine a movieclip variable in the parameter like in as2? ..I hope I'm making sense..
HTML Code:
[Code]...
I know this is very stupid...How can I pass variable in a mouseEvent in as3?
I'm trying to change the variable that's set to 0 into 1 on a mouse event. I have 3 movie clips 'maskedbgmc' and when clicked its supposed to change a variable. But it doesn't change the variable as far as i can see.
var checkCard1:Number = 0; maskedbg_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, cardChecked1); function cardChecked1 (event:MouseEvent):void { checkCard1 = 1; } var checkCard2:Number = 0; [Code] .....
Why won't my sound play? It should play on MousOver and stop on MouseOut...
stop(); import flash.display.MovieClip;import flash.events.MouseEvent; var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("squeeak.wav"); var sound:Sound = new Sound(); var controller:SoundChannel; function soundLoaded(event:Event):void{ [Code] .....
trying to on mouse over set the parent of the moused over text field to the highest depth child of its parent i tried both of these: [code] private function
I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:
I have a shell swf that is loading a swf. How do you have the loaded swf tell the parent loader to unload itself after the loaded swf finishes playing?
Im working on a project that has a main swf file associated with the document class. It loads XML that provides the text content for the project, then it loads a swf that contains a font in its library, then it loads the first of several content module swfs. When the font swf has inited, I'm registering its library font with Font.registerFont(), and using it in a TextFormat object. After everything is done, I can add code to the document class to create a text field on the stage of the main swf and format it successfully with the TextFormat object, but when I try to do the same thing inside the loaded content module swf, the text doesn't show up there at all.
