ActionScript 3.0 :: Preloader For The Whole Flash Document?
Mar 17, 2009Right now it seems that the preloader is only showing loading to when the first frame that a movie clip is on. instead loading through all the frames.

Oct 30, 2011I have created 1,5mb swf file and I need preloader for it. I don't have any timeline code in it. All written in OOP, based on document class. I grabbed a preloader from my previous projects but this one doesn't work. The output is: "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference at myDocumentClass()"Basically I want to load large swf in my preloader swf or whatever will work. I tried add loaderInfo to my document class but complete event triggered only when everything is loaded, and nothing appear before that. Just a blank screen.

Oct 13, 2010I'm running into an instance where I am trying to load a file 'main.swf' using the Loader class and the content of the 'evt.currentTarget.content' points to '[ object Main__Preloader__ ]'. When attemting to trace the content of the loader, I would expect the trace would show similar to '[object Main ]' since the document class for the main.swf is 'Main'. In Safari I can get the file to load and play properly (admitting through a work around) however, on Firefox for mac all that displays is some sort of 'preloader' (which I can assure you I did not create) which looks like so:

I will mention I am using CS5 on a mac and this file works fine when published from CS4 to FP9. I will also mention that the main.swf does contain imported assets from a RSL.

Oct 31, 2011how to make a dynamic unfilled and filled circle. that will take input from a slider to dertermine how much of the circle is drawn. I wanted to use this for a preloader. Unlike the author I would like to use it inside of a document class. I am getting 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method createEmptyMovieClip through a reference with static type document. and 1120: Access of undefined property circ1. The second is caused from the first. How would I get this to work in my document class?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reference To Stage In Document Class Throwing Error When Loaded In Preloader
Mar 13, 2009I have buils a flash movie using a document class, all works fine. When I load the movie using a preloader all reference to the stage as in stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; or stage.stageHeight throws a TypeError: Error #1009: I think i undrestand the problem, I am no longer accessing the stage properties. How do i access stage properties from the document class once loaded into the prelaoder?

I'm having trouble with it.I'm guessing its due to what a class can and can not access from the stage?theres 2 problems. the first is that I cant change the keyframe the stage is on from the class. the second is im getting an error 1009 if I comment that out.

May 7, 2011I have a FLA (say Main.FLA) document class with a child MovieClip on the stage: into the child MovieClip I load other swf files: each of the files contains its own Document Class (every swf is a somewhat independent application, say quizzes and so on).For some reason I must use the Main document class to store data (scores or so) from the child swfs loaded into the Main swf. HOW do I reference the Main class? I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.

Aug 25, 2009What I'm working on is a navigation bar populated by an XML document. I'm working from an existing navigation bar while I learn, and the existing bar has a menu, and when clicked each button has a sub menu. I'm trying to remove the submenu so that when you click the navigation bar button, you go to the address defined in the XML. So far I've got everything working so that there is no sub menu drop down, and when you click a button, you are taken to a URL defined in the actual flash AS file.
I can't seem to get the AS file to call on the XML file to the get a URL from it though. How do I tell the AS file to call a variable from the XML document? I know I have the correct Node path because it works in a second AS file.

May 23, 2002i tried the tutorial that teaches you how to create a preloader....i followed the instructions and it still doesnt work! what's wrg?[code]on my first frame actions....i put the "gotoAndPlay (36)" cause i tried a previous preloader that took more than 1 frame and didnt want to change my button's "goTo" frames...but i figured it wont change anything..anyways, i put that line of code as my first frame action....by double clicking the timeline..then i create a symbol for that frame 1 and created an animation.

May 27, 2009I am using this tutorial to install lightbox within a flash cs3 as2 document[URL]..I got everything to work, now I am trying to set up the code to load an html page in the lightbox without changing the option to load jpg's as well.
So far I've tried changing the code in flash to say .html instead of .jpg and The lightbox keeps loading without ever finding the file.

May 31, 2009when i create a new document in Flash CS3 with choosing "ActionScript 3.0", i cannot edit the action script for any clips/buttons i made and when i pressed F9, it showed "current selection cannot have actions applied to it". however, when i created a flash file with selecting ActionScript 2.0, I have no such issue any more.
