ActionScript 3.0 :: Progress Of URLRequest - Preloading Video Into Cache?

Jan 13, 2011

I am having an issue with tracking the progress of a URLRequest for a FLV file. My code is as follows:

ActionScript Code:
var backgroundVideoSourceRequest1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("video/loops/Loop1-1080.flv");
var backgroundVideoSourceLoader1:URLLoader = new URLLoader(backgroundVideoSourceRequest1);
backgroundVideoSourceLoader1.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, changeVid1Status);
backgroundVideoSourceLoader1.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, video1status);

IDE :: Progress Bar Only Works On Cache

Jan 11, 2010

I'm having this strange problem with the progress bar in the gallery section of my site. I made the site on flash.Go to the English section and click any image. you'll see the progress bar not working but wait a bit untill the gallery loads. There's no close button but if move your mouse pointer to the up right corner it's there, click it. Now click on the same image and you'll notice that now the progress bar and close button works fine.url.. It's weird because when i publish the site and test it on my computer it works fine. But when i upload the files to the server this happens. The preloader only works when it's in the computer cache.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preloading The Progress Bar?

Jan 12, 2011

The tutorial used dynamic text to count the bytes loaded, displaying this in a percentage number (1% - 100%). I want to add a progress bar to the preloader animation. The bar shows up but does not expand as the bytes are loaded.

var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var mclL:Object = new Object();
var mclL:Object = new Object();

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preloading Multiple SWFs Into Cache And Playing Them Sequentially?

May 17, 2008

I've tried endlessly to make sense of the solutions that other people have posted. But I cannot seem to get any code to work my my purposes, so I decided to post my own thread.I have a main parent Flash movie that I need to load 7 exteral SWFs into. Each of the SWFs is like its own scene in a longer movie. The external files are called:

mc1.swf
mc2.swf
mc3.swf
mc4.swf
mc5.swf
mc6.swf
mc7.swf

The final parent movie should play each external SWF movie sequentially so that it appears as one combined movie (so none of the loaded SWFs are actually playing at the same time - they should only play one at a time, one after another).I want to preload mc1.swf, mc2. swf and mc3.swf into the cache before the parent movie starts playing(and I would like to include a progress bar to indicate loading status). Once those SWFs are preloaded, I would like them to start playing sequentially while the rest of the SWFs load in the background.

Basically,I have a long Flash animation that I decided to split up into several individual movies.I've using the parent movie to seamlessly string together my individual movies to give the appearance of cohesion.I have determined that I should use the MovieClipLoader Class and loadClip() to accomplish what I am trying to do.However, I have a very limited knowledge of actionscripting, so this has been a major challenge for me.

I am optimizing the parent SWF for the web, and it's important that the video plays seamlessly, so I cannot put individual preloaders onto each external SWF. They have to preload at the beginning so that when each individual SWF is called, it's already loaded and no preloader is required.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Custom Preloader Delays Displaying Preloading Progress

Jul 15, 2011

My project Home Page contains several 'heavy' instances on stage. So as to entertain a visitor while all they are loading I start preloading transition. However despite all my efforts my custom preloader delays displaying preloading progress for a while: althoug preloader wheel rotates, progress value displays as 0% for several seconds - from 1-3 seconds in normal browsers up to 5-6 seconds in Safari (which I consider to be worst one for Flash). if someone could clarify me whether I should listen for ALL the children loading progress so as to fix this issue or just never mind (e.g. every button on stage consists of two VideoPlayers, one TLFTextField, one Timer, two Sprites and one attached sound; now I'm listening for two VideoPlayers loading progress only...)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Flash Video With Cache Disabled?

was going through the free trainings offered by them. The trainings were good but what surpried me that even though the videos are Flash based, they are not stored in the browser's cachewhich also uses Flash for videos, where the videos are stored temporarily in the browser's cache, this was not in this case. The following is the link for one of the video training which I played on my computer but I was unable to find any trace of it on my local hard-drive:I guess, if the videos are played, then there must be some temporary storage allocated in the hard drive. There are two questions I would like to ask:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preventing Cache / Forcing Refresh In Video Streaming?

Sep 21, 2009

I made a web which contains some video streaming from a flv file. The thing is that all the flv file is kept in the browser's cache, and that's a problem, because every time the video file is updated, the browser (Firefox, Opera...) keeps on loading it from the cache.

Is there any piece of AS (1.0) which prevents it from loading from the cache? Or (even better): is there any way to keep it from being kept in any browser's cache folder?

I used a slightly modified version of this code (skipCache.as), but it won't work:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Prevent A Video From Preloading Further?

Jan 11, 2011

I have an application that has multiple concurrent netstreams going on in the background that are basically preload videos behind the scenes. From time to time, I need to give preference to one of the streams over the other, so I want to pause the preloading of all but one stream.

The only way, theoretically, that I could think of to do it is to set the maxPauseBufferTime to a very low number (say 0.1) and then pause the video. All of the preloading netstreams are already paused, so I don't know what it takes to make this kick in. I thought maybe doing resume/pause back to back would trigger the max buffer to kick in, and have it stop preloading, but it doesn't seem to be working.

No matter what I've tried, it continues to load the video. I've also set bufferTimeMax to 0, but still no luck. Does anyone know a way to prevent a netstream from buffering further until I'm ready for it to start back up?

Flash :: Get Download Progress Of Video / Image In HTML5?

Mar 25, 2010

Almost every flash player has an option to display how much of buffer (or % of total video) is downloaded to the client. At the moment I don't see it in any implementation of html5 video player.

The real problem I am trying to solve is to have a way of knowing % of downloaded asset (image/swf/video whatever). In flash its easy by using MovieClipLoader and bytesLoaded property.

Is there any way of doing it in HTML/HTML5/Javascript (without relying on Flash) ?

Create A Progress Bar (248px Wide) With A Slider That Moves According To The Movie Progress

Jun 4, 2010

I have an SWF movie (1375 frames) and created a progress bar (248px wide) with a slider that moves according to the movie progress. I'm doing that next way:Calculating the distance for the slider to be moved each frame (248 / 1375) On each ENTER_FRAME moving the slider for the calculated distance The problem is - the movie ends far before the slider reaches the end of the progress bar.

I'm thinking that the distance (Step 1) is is somehow ends floored by Flash and the actual distance it moves the slider is smaller than required. That's why the movie ends, but the timeline control just passed the 2/3 of its way. My question is - is there any solution for the problem? Or any other way to go, if it's a wrong one?
