ActionScript 3.0 :: Prevent A Video From Preloading Further?
Jan 11, 2011
I have an application that has multiple concurrent netstreams going on in the background that are basically preload videos behind the scenes. From time to time, I need to give preference to one of the streams over the other, so I want to pause the preloading of all but one stream.
The only way, theoretically, that I could think of to do it is to set the maxPauseBufferTime to a very low number (say 0.1) and then pause the video. All of the preloading netstreams are already paused, so I don't know what it takes to make this kick in. I thought maybe doing resume/pause back to back would trigger the max buffer to kick in, and have it stop preloading, but it doesn't seem to be working.
No matter what I've tried, it continues to load the video. I've also set bufferTimeMax to 0, but still no luck. Does anyone know a way to prevent a netstream from buffering further until I'm ready for it to start back up?
I have an FLV embedded in a SWF, and it preloads whenever a user visits the page it's on. Is there a way to prevent it from preloading, or force a user to click play before it loads?
I've been using the "Reusable Preloader Using MovieClipLoader" from the tutorial section of this site.The only difference is that i don't use'm for preloading jpg. I load external swf files containing video. Everything works fine so far. The only problem is that the preloaded video already starts playing while preloading (at about 30%), but without showing the video.This is the code i have so far:
i never had this problemdont know whats going on actuallyi embeb a flv video in a mci simply apply the same preload acs that i use for yearsand it only shows when is loaded at 90%not from the begginingi apply the same script to another video and it works
I've made a video class that holds a video. I want to be able to create an instance of this class, give it a video to preload, check if its all preloaded, then start playing it.Currently the only way i can find to start it preloading is to call 'ns.play()', however this starts the video actually playing.Is it netstream that i should actually be using here?
I know extremely little about Flash, and have been sent a completed SWF file, which I have inserted into my webpage with the code below.The problem is that it starts playing automatically. Is there some way that I can add a parameter to the code below so that the video doesn't start automatically, or will the SWF file need to be re-created?
I have a small game that plays a short instruction video and then has the player select a button which then takes them to the next level. The game has 4 levels with video. The problem is that when the swf plays all the video plays at the same time. When you get to the level you can play the play button on the skin and the video will play again and the level functions appropriately. How can I get the videos to only play when the play button on the skin is clicked? [code]...
Problem is that I want to have small video players in this full screen Projector, but I DO NOT want the videos to display full screen. I want the videos to display at their preferred size. However, since the stage mode is full screen, the video automatically goes to full screen as well.How do I prevent this?
But the problem is that they start downloading the entire videos. I've read some topics and docs and I feel that there is a way to avoid it For example, I've tried this line: video.mx_internal::videoPlayer.bufferTime = 1;
I'm using JQuery to create a button that (when clicked), removes a flash video from the page. Unfortunately, I can't simply use hide(). I must remove() because hiding doesn't stop the video in ie8 and the sound continues to play. After the video is removed I would like it to reappear when a "show video" button is clicked. I tried to accomplish this with clone() and detach()... The video appears but does not play and has missing controls in IE only. Other browsers work fine.
The video is initially added to the page using the AC_FL_RunContent() function. The issue is that when I try to add the "removed" video back to the page by calling AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase'... The page refreshes and shows only the video. Everything else has disappeared. How can I prevent that from happening?
I have built an FLV video player and used Sorenson to compress a bunch of movies in hi, med, and lo quality. Everything works when I click to load these different video qualities but all the videos auto stretch to the MC width and height.
I'm trying to preload a movie so that it doesn't stutter when it plays. So i thought preload the whole flv and then let it automatically play. I followed Adobe's tutorial [URL] on 'Controlling web video with ActionScript 3 FLVPlayback programming' and added a progress bar all using components. But I just can't get it to work, the progress bar disappears when it loads and the movie starts playing before its preloaded. Here's the online version; [URL] and I've attached the .fla too.
I am having an issue with tracking the progress of a URLRequest for a FLV file. My code is as follows:
ActionScript Code: var backgroundVideoSourceRequest1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("video/loops/Loop1-1080.flv"); var backgroundVideoSourceLoader1:URLLoader = new URLLoader(backgroundVideoSourceRequest1); backgroundVideoSourceLoader1.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, changeVid1Status); backgroundVideoSourceLoader1.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, video1status);
setPublishPassword and setPostingPassword ?I do not quite understand, do not use an example.I set him groupspecWithOutAuthorizations, but was illegally set to groupspecWithAuthorizations how to do.
I have noticed that mi screensaver doesn't start while I'm watching videos on YouTube.I'm using Windows 7.This is the test:Set Windows screensaver to 1 minute.Browse to YouTube and play a video longer than 1 minute; ideally much longer.Note that your screensaver doesn't come up after the specified time (1 minute).I've tested using Firefox, Chrome and IE8. My Flash Player version is 10.3. (Youtube is using flash to play the videos). The same happens whether I watch the video in full-screen or not.
was just trying to make my site more efficient when its online. I have an image/video gallery. When the thumbnail is clicked, an image or video will be displayed in the container I have. Currently, the code is like
[Code]...
And if so, will it be in the cache or anything when it is loaded again within the click event?
Recently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..
I made a video in After Effect and export it to flash as a FLV video.. and write de code to load it into flash.. but I need it to loop.. Here is the code
i have my portfolio website which is a 1.5mb big flash presentation and i thought about making a preloader.the problem is that making a preloader for the entire site will take too long to load. i have tried that.
so i thought about making a preloader for each "page" or section of my presentation. for example- just for syneron, or just for m-systems (with each of them have a few diferent pages in the presentation, but their size is managable).
the problem is that i cant find anything is the preloader code that will let met control what frames to preload (for example, frames 100-200).
I've made preloaders before, but only by having a preloader.swf that loads the content.swf.Is it possible to have an swf preload itself, so to say?I suppose the swf doesn't start until it is read into memory completely, or am I wrong?
I have a preloader that loads an external swf. That external swf calls an xml file that takes a few seconds to process and load the images within the xml.
My issue is that the preloader is "lying" to me when it reaches 100% because once it loads the external swf there is still a few second delay before the images within the external swf display.
Logically that makes scene to me because the external swf bytes don't include the bytes of the images that it calls for.
SO,...
How do I get the preloader to count to 100% only when the entire external swf and all of its contents are loaded in?
I need both the XML and SWF to be fully loaded and available. The problem I have at the moment is that the swf loads and after a slight delay the xml content appears (this is more noticeable at lower bandwidths).I need for both to appear at the sametime. Is there a way of constructing a preloader that takes both swf and xml bytes together ie getBytesTotal for both swf and xml.
While the main movie is already visible and usable, I want to load some additional SWF's (not to large though, like 20-50kb) underwater... so not visible and they won't be appearing to people unless they click a certain button. It is not certain that people will actually go to view them, but I want to make sure that some parts are immediately visible (so already loaded), in cache so to speak.

I searched everywhere for a peice of code to prevent a web page from loading when it is not on a server.Finally found this one and I swear it was working last night.Am I placing the function in the wrong place?I have everything in 2 framesif the flash swf is currently running on the propper server it should skip to frame 2 and if it is running on a computer or the wrong server it should stay at frame 1.[code]
