View 8 RepliesI have made a application that plays videos that are stored in a assets folder of the air application but when ever I run it on an hp slate the videos are really choppy. Is there a way to preload the video or does it have to do with the processing power? the videos are 1.72mb or smaller. They are flv format and they auto play when that application is started. I am using flash builder.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load video using NetStream. I am able to do this by using the Video Class, but is it possible with the FLV Playback? I would like to add a seek bar so people can scroll the video if they want to.
I know the FLV Playback Component has this built in so I would use it BUT I can't load a stream to the FLV Playback, I can only set it's source. This works fine, but it doesn't allow me to unload it, the sound keeps playing, which is why I ended up using the NetStream instead.
So I have 2 questions. 1) Is it possible to load the NetStream to the FLV Playback component? 2) If not, how do I add the seek functionality to my Video Class?
I have noticed that mi screensaver doesn't start while I'm watching videos on YouTube.I'm using Windows 7.This is the test:Set Windows screensaver to 1 minute.Browse to YouTube and play a video longer than 1 minute; ideally much longer.Note that your screensaver doesn't come up after the specified time (1 minute).I've tested using Firefox, Chrome and IE8. My Flash Player version is 10.3. (Youtube is using flash to play the videos). The same happens whether I watch the video in full-screen or not.
View 2 RepliesTrying to play an flv in a mc at 100% on one layer while playing the same flv at 200% on a layer behind it.
I am wanting to load the flv in once, check it has loaded and then play both instances at the same time.
I tried this:
// Create a NetConnection object
var netConn:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
// Create a local streaming connection
netConn.connect(null);

I'm new to the streaming video world but I do have FMS 3.5 up and running and have encoded some wmv and mp4 videos to flv using adobe encoder CS4. I followed the tutorials and have created the swf files in flash CS4 and the videos are streaming as expected.
The primary issue I am having is the videos tend to be choppy at times. They pause, run slowly, audio pops and just overall; glitchy. Typically at the beginning but some times throughout. The test files at the FMS admin page stream fine without issue from the same server. We have tested the site/streams from multiple providers all at cable modem speed or above.
We are running FMS 3.5 developer version and wish to purchase the full version but I really need to fix this issue to prove it's value.As a bit of background we are running/testing FMS 3.5 from a server with the following specs:Redhat EL 4.6-32 SuperMicro X7DBU Intel Xeon QuadCore DualProc Sata [2Proc] Intel Xeon-Harpertown 5420-Quadcore [2.5GHz] OEM 4GB ECC FB-DIMM DDR2 Mainboard Onboard SATAII Controller (2) Western Digital WD Caviar RE 16 WD2500YS Uplink speed 10 (Mbps) Bandwidth allotment 2000 GB(Virtual Private Rack)
I load external .swf files by code
ldr[nr][1][j2] = new Loader();
ldr[nr][1][j2].load(urlReq);
and about 3 seconds (by extra Timer script) after they're completely loaded are added to stage with
obj[nr][1][j2].addChild(ldr[nr][1][j2])
It all works properly, no problems at all. But by the time the .swf files are added as children to stage they've already animated 3 seconds of their own timeline so appear to "not start from the beginning of the animation".Any way I can prevent that in a simple way? (without requiring access / editing / recreating the loaded .swf or its .fla files)
Need to make a character start to talk when the sound starts and stop talk when the sound stops so I'm using this:

i have application that streams videos from fms .i try to play video of 240 seconds, but when playback reaches 180 seconds i got NetStream. play. stop . it happens regularly at the same time.why does it happen? is it encoding of the video??
View 4 RepliesI just got a new laptop that is running Windows 7 (64 bit) and has Intel HD Graphics (driver version 8.15.10.2182) built in to the CPU (Intel p6000). The laptop came with Flash version 10.0.45.2. When I play HD video with this version of Flash on Youtube and on HULU, everything is fine, I can play 480p and 1080p videos at 30fps with no noticible problems (although there are occasional frame drops according to the right click menu option "Show Video Info" on Youtube, but nothing major.) Then the other day, flash told me there was a new version available, so I upgraded to 10.1.82.76.
Running this version, all HD videos on Youtube and HULU are choppy and unwatchable, according to "Show Video Info" on Youtube, I am getting only 8 fps, and the frame drops increment constantly. I unchecked "Enable hardware acceleration" in the Flash settings, but it has no effect. The only other people I can find who are having a similar problem are Mac users who are also using CPUs with Intel HD Graphics and Flash 10.1, I couldn't find anyone else complaining about this issue on Windows 7. Is anyone aware of any issues with Flash 10.1 and Intel HD Graphics on Windows 7? Will there be a future release of 10.1 that fixes this issue? Is there any workaround for this problem other then downgrading to 10.0 (which is what I am running now)?
we just set up FMS and basically what's happening is im using the standard run-of-the mill FLVplayback component and I try to run a video (an MP4) file which is streamed through FMS. The video plays, but intermittently chops.
Next test:
Akamai SMIL file with sthe same player plays totally smoothe, no problems.
Next test:
Put new video on FMS server (video chops intermittently) - we then go right next to the server, with literally a 300K second download speed. Still chops.
Next test:
Try different media, same thing.
So essentially the FMS server CANNOT stream any videos properly. Its not a bandwidth issue, and it makes no sense.
I try different video players, tried changing the bufferTime properties, same thing. The FMS server is running at 0% cpu and is a fast machien.
FMS settings I can do to get optimal performance?
This code works fine if the timeline is moving forward through the .flv file. However, the going in reverse produces choppy results. The choppyness seems uniform, as in, it's always choppy and always the same intensity. [code]...
View 3 RepliesWe have installed FMS on our godaddy server to work with and used live video streaming services. We are having problems with the video quality being choppy, slow and pauses continuously during live broadcast and motion. We can't figure what is wrong; video needs to be flawless and in high quality. The godaddy server is running:
Red Hat Fedora Core 7
Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHzRAM
2 GB RAM
250 GB Total Disk Space
I am facing below mentioned problem regarding video broadcasting with adobe flash media interactive server (Developers version). I am using DVRCAST for recording video from a webcam and broadcasting the same live. Please find video settings below.
width:320
height:240
fps:15
quality:90
bandwidth:150
buffer time:0.01
Our problem is that videos are not playing smoothly in application. The motion is getting paused and interrupted in time of broadcast live. I downloaded and checked the recorded flv files from server and found the recorded file also has same problem. So this problem is appearing in time of streaming the video from client computer to fms server. This problem is not appearing when I am testing the application in my localhost.
My code for live streaming mentioned below:
private function publishCamera():void {
cam = Camera.getCamera();
cam.setMode(cameraSettings.width,cameraSettings.height,cameraSettings .fps);
cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,0);
cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,cameraSettings.quality);
[Code] .....
Server conf:
2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5410 @ 2.33GHz
16Gb RAM
2 Gbit ethernet channel
OS - Linux CentOS 5.5 x86_64
FMS4 Interactive
Live stream parameters:
320Ń…240 qua_=87 bw_=200000 kf_=5 fps_=18
So, after approximately 600 connections to one stream video becomes choppy (periodically freeze, slow motions). CPU-usage at this time is 100-120% (maximum is 800%, 100% per each core), network usage is 500 Mbit/sec.But second live stream(with few connections) at this server looks fine simultaneously with 600 connections at first stream.Experiments with recommendation in "Configuring performance features" documentation chapter(enabling/disabling aggregate messages and configure the size of stream chunks) do not help.
I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy. I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream.
View 2 RepliesThe stop button plays as expected. The play/pause button plays as expected. The issue is when you press pause which will cause the play button to appear, then press stop. the video automatically plays and it shouldn't. I have bolded the control button script for convenience.

I am wanting to play a number of movie clips and flash produced video clips. On the main timeline I have a frame for each clip I want to play. In that frame is a flash movie that contains the video that I have embedded onto the timeline for the movie. The filesize for this project is massive and I am struggling to work on the file. I want to be able to play the video files with the playback component in each of the frames where the video was.

I am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system.
View 2 RepliesI have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.
I have loaded an external video with playback component in Flash CS4.
Now the question is do I need to add streaming script or not?
I'm trying to play a 10 minute long video (h264/mp4) which is 39MB in size, after I call stream.play(fileURL) it doesn't start playback until its loaded around 12-16MB of the file (many many seconds later), I finally get onMetaData at this point too. Why doesn't it begin playback right away, or at least w/in a couple seconds? What can cause this bloated lead in time?

View 20 RepliesI'm making a video player in AS3 and was wondering how to find out how much of the video is currently cached/buffered. I'm not sure what the correct terminology is, so I haven't been able to find it in the documentation.
NetStream.time gives me the current location of the video, so based on that I can display a progressbar.
Underneath the progressbar, I want to display how much of the video has been loaded already. How do I find this value?
It's a simple video player that opens a netStream which setups a client callback object onMetaData.The size is off when video is scaled.Example 1:
ActionScript Code:
trace("width: " + data.width, "height: " + data.height);
if(data.height > 240)
[code].....
Using netstream to load in a video and have the buffer to basically load the entire video before it starts playing. So the video doesn't begin to play until the buffer is full but while the buffer is filling up, the cue points are being read and triggering actions.
View 4 Repliesmy website contained some flv´s netstream. everything works fine!now i want to switch between some external swf and my netstream.. but it doessn´t work!.[code]
View 1 RepliesI have an application that has multiple concurrent netstreams going on in the background that are basically preload videos behind the scenes. From time to time, I need to give preference to one of the streams over the other, so I want to pause the preloading of all but one stream.
The only way, theoretically, that I could think of to do it is to set the maxPauseBufferTime to a very low number (say 0.1) and then pause the video. All of the preloading netstreams are already paused, so I don't know what it takes to make this kick in. I thought maybe doing resume/pause back to back would trigger the max buffer to kick in, and have it stop preloading, but it doesn't seem to be working.
No matter what I've tried, it continues to load the video. I've also set bufferTimeMax to 0, but still no luck. Does anyone know a way to prevent a netstream from buffering further until I'm ready for it to start back up?
1) I want a 60 seconds video to start playing after 40 seconds have been downloaded - to do that I set the NetStream.bufferTime to 40 seconds and retrieve "NetStream.Buffer.Full" event causing the video to really start playing. This step is OK.
2) However, the "NetStream.Buffer.Full" causes data to stop downloading. So the remainder of the video begins to download no sooner than after the 40 seconds have been played. This step is my issue. Can anyone tell me how to avoid this unintended effect? (i.e. playing a video and downloading data at the same time?)
I am new in AS3.I am using net stream video player with xml. How can i get videos dimension (Width and Height).if suppose i get the dimension of the video and i will change the video size with aspect ratio.
View 7 RepliesI have a netstream object playing a video introduction
ns.play(video.flv)
and on another frame of my movie I have a menu, at which point I call
ns.pause()
and then depending on what the user clicks, the netstream opens a new video:
ns.play(video2.flv)
except I see a flicker from the previous video I had running. I've tried all sorts of things.
