ActionScript 3.0 :: Remote Access Varies From Browser To Browser?

Jul 17, 2010

I created a photo album viewer which grabs an XML file from my web site, and then parses the XML to get the paths to all the photos to be displayed by the album viewer. The code makes use of the URLLoader class to fetch the XML. The problem, though, is that in google Chrome it works-- but in IE8, it doesn't work. For example, the XML code and the image fetching code work seemlessly on Chrome. But in IE8 and in IE6, it seems to not be able to fetch such information.

I've read somewhere that you need a crossdomain.xml file at the root directory of your server. But I'm not crossing any domains! It's all coming from my server where the swf is being hosted!

Slideshow Not Showing Images From Remote Browser?

Dec 8, 2009

I have created a simple site in Dreamweaver, I have uploaded the site to a remote server and everything is great but for one thing. I have inserted a Flash image viewer that should show a selection of images, it works fine when launched from Dreamweaver into a browser window such as Firefox. However if I access the site using its domain name and recieving from the remote server no images/slides play.

I have done several things to try and rectify this. Made sure the images are in the root folder. entered 'base' and '.' in the parameters and made sure all image names start with a lower case (linux) and it still doesnt work.

As2 :: Differences Between Flash And Web Browser Loading Remote Swf

Aug 18, 2011

I am working on a project where I need to load a remote swf file into another using flash and as2. This should be simple, but the remote swf file is modular by design (i.e it needs to make calls to load other swf files into it) When I enter in the location to the remote swf file from a web browser it has no problem loading up. When I try and load the swf file using flash I get errors relating to the file system. It seems the flash being loaded into my flash is trying to load its other pieces and is looking for them on my computer.

Actionscript 3 :: LocalConnection Working In Local Browser But NOT In Remote Site

Jan 23, 2010

Really puzzled by the flaky behavior of LocalConnection. Using a debug utility(LuminicBox) that uses localConnection to work.

When the page containing the swf is loaded in a browser locally , localConnection works.

When the identical page and swf are viewed 'live' on a remote site, localConnection fails.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Browser / Flash - Remote Server Does Not Display Correctly In Safari Or Chrome

Apr 18, 2011

I am designing a fairly simple site made up of a swf (AS3) in an html page. I'm relatively new to it all, but was doing ok until recently! The problem I have is this: The swf within the html loads perfectly from my local drive in all browsers, but when published to the remote server does not display correctly in Safari or Chrome... It is fine in Firefox.

To see it correctly, use Firefox and the link below. To see it fail at the preloader (in fact, it distorts the design of the pre-loader and goes no further) use Chrome or Safari. [URL] The site is unfinished, so there are other issues you may find which I am solving, but this is the one of concern.

Media Server :: Connect And Sync To Remote Shared Object Works In Authoring But Not In Browser?

Dec 19, 2011

I'm having trouble connecting to a remote persistent shared object. When I run from the Flash authoring environment it works. But when I run it from a browser it doesn't. The code attaches an event listener to the sync event, and then calls so.connect(nc).

As mentioned - it works inside Flash authoring only. In both cases the connection to the server is successful. I also tried setting client.readAccess to "/" in the application.onConnect function of the server-side code - but it doesn't help. (Everything was written by me including the server-side application code. I have full control and access to the server).

Also, I can see the remote object exists on the server in the admin console.And as mentioned, when running inside Flash CS5 - the onsync gets triggered after connecting to the shared object.But, the same code under a browser - doesn't trigger the onsync.The SharedObject.getRemote method on the client side returns an object on both occasions.

Flex :: Make A Flash Browser App That Could Receive Data From Browser Plugin Or Other Windows App?

Dec 18, 2009

in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?

IDE :: Access The Php In My Browser?

Dec 21, 2009

There is a php script on a server that outputs a list of the JPGs in a folder, as a text file. My SWF reads this php file perfectly when the html/SWF is run from my browser locally (on my computer), but DOES NOT WORK when the html/SWF is loaded from a server. There is no error message, and the request never triggers the "OPEN" event.

This makes no sense to me since the URL request is made from my IP address, whether I download the html and SWF from a server or run it locally, right? Also, I can directly access the php in my browser. The PHP is running under the ModX CMS.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Opening Browser Windows From A Flash Movie With Browser?

Jan 17, 2006

I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

on(release) {
_root.myForm.formNameField.txt = ""
_root.myForm.formEmailField.txt = ""[code].....

This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.

Silverlight :: Access To Webcam In Browser?

Sep 13, 2010

For an internal project we would like to play with building a video conferencing system.We are able to decide the browser that the user has to use and can install plugins. The only requirement is that the browser and plugins must be free and work over Linux and Mac.(Don't care about Windows)What is the best way to do access the webcam and mic stream from a user for sending to a server? Ideally I would like to do this plugin free but I can see no implementation of the devices tag in HTML5 in any browser yet, unless someone knows different.If its flash/silverlight, any quick examples of capture and sending to a server?lso any examples of streaming video from a server to a client would be useful, so we can stick it all together. This I know we can do in HTML5 so this would be a preference.

The client connection part is all I would need as we are building the server, this is the internal challenge.Basically I'm looking for good examples and best practices for sending and receiving this information.Edit: As I have discovered from some groups the device tag is no where near completion. So answers will have to be flash/silverlight (does that work on linux??).

I've figured out how to tell my flash website not to scale itself (which degrades the quality of the buttons i've created as .gifs). And then how to keep it centered within the browser. But this leads to unwanted white, negative space on all sides, since i'm keeping my site small enough for everyone to view (at 800 x 600). So what code can I add that will scale the browser to the set dimensions of the site? Rather than vice versa.

Flex :: Access The Remote IP Of A RTMFP P2p Stream?

Oct 4, 2010

I'm writing a communication system, using Actionscript 3 and C#. Flash is used to communicate with RTMP server and stream video and audio using RTMFP p2p, but the actual client logic is handled in C#.

What I want to be able to do, is allow users to share files between each other also using a direct p2p connection. I have got the RTMFP connection working but I need to access the IP address of the remote user so I can initiate a connection to send or receive files.

I looked at the Adobe docs but I can't see anything except how to access the farID.

Is there a way to get the IP of a RTMFP stream?
