I am not trying to track clicks or anything like other people - I just want to put a browser within a browser that can go back, forward, refresh, accept user-entered URLs, and store bookmarks. Can flash/silverlight/ajax/whatever do this? If so, how?
I've read about WebSockets but they don't seem to be pure "sockets", because there is an application layer protocol over them. "ws:"Is there any way of doing a pure socket connection from a web browser, to enliven webpages? Here are my random stabs in the darkApplets sockets provided by Java (need java installed)Flash sockets provided by Flash (need flash installed)But about HTML5, Why are they called WebSockets if they aren't Sockets?
When Flex application make an asynchronus HTTP request, does it add a special header to the request, like some JavaScript framework does? Something that indicates whether this request is an AJAX call/not.I just want my server side code to return different response format, depending on whether the request is made from browser/flex.
in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary. The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:
This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.
Trying to detect a browser close event and send some data to the database when the user closes the browser window...but can't seem to get it to work.[code]
I have looked around for this and haven't found a way that clearly explains how to do this. More often than not the button will close the browser window in one but not another browser.
Is the a simple way of closing a browser window in all types of browser ( Or mainly Firefox, IE and safari on both Mac and PC ) with actionscript?
I created a photo album viewer which grabs an XML file from my web site, and then parses the XML to get the paths to all the photos to be displayed by the album viewer. The code makes use of the URLLoader class to fetch the XML. The problem, though, is that in google Chrome it works-- but in IE8, it doesn't work. For example, the XML code and the image fetching code work seemlessly on Chrome. But in IE8 and in IE6, it seems to not be able to fetch such information.
I've read somewhere that you need a crossdomain.xml file at the root directory of your server. But I'm not crossing any domains! It's all coming from my server where the swf is being hosted!
[URL].. Anyone know the AS to make it automatically check the size of the browser for the listeners_notice when you resize the browser it works perfectly...but not when it first loads up.
often than not the button will close the browser window in one but not another browser. Is the a simple way of closing a browser window in all types of browser( Or mainly Firefox, IE and safari on both Mac and PC ) with actionscript?
Can I create a flash file which will be used as web-browser. So basically, Flash will behave like Internet Explorer or Firefox, perhaps like loading a page inside iframe.
now if i just link a website to a button in flash, it will go to the browser window and in order for the user to get back to my app, they have to close the browser down and start up my app all over again, so to avoid that, i need a AS 3 code that i can use to link a button to a youtube video, and when they press the button then the browser will appear within the app, and then there could be a "exit" button for the browser, so that the user still remains inside the app all the time. Because im having many links in my app.
I have some questions about centerting your SWF inside a browser using actionscript 3.0. - How can I center my main SWF inside the browser without stretching the the swf? I just want it to be center both horizontal and vertical when you resize the browser. - I found some tutorials but it is only referring to just ONE movieclip. What if I want to center the whole stage? Is there any other way to call the stage that has content in it?
I am developing a project in which I am required to open an exe file (i.e. notepad) right inside the browsers window. The solution can be in any programming tool / language. I have tried a sample program in VB.NET and it is working. (see the figure attached below)
To clarify when I ask about browser to browser communication I mean without a server in between forwarding message. I would like to implement something like this for a game. If p2p in websockets isn't possible are there similar alternatives?
The Flash site I'm working on is causing Flash player to crash, both inside the browser (taking Firefox down with it) and inside the Flash IDE (taking Flash CS4 down with it) --this is regarding Flash Player 10,0,22,87 (debug version)
The exact point of crash varies considerably and no Flash errors appear, so I can't pinpoint the problem to any particular code. I thought there must be a nasty memory leak somewhere, but since I've started monitoring that (via System.totalMemory) that doesn't appear to be the problem. I thought maybe using hardware acceleration might be the cause, but turning it off hasn't made a difference. I'm using PaperVision3D Great White. Not using full screen--at least not YET. I'm streaming some video, streaming some audio... I don't know what's left.
scroll a movieclip inside a swf with the browser scrollbar? I'm not talking about something like swfFit or so but actually controling a mc on stage while the rest of the swf stays in place? I've seen this done in a site that I don't remember the url to. Don't know though if they placed a div containing a swf on top of the "main" swf.
my organization is in the process of building a touchscreen interactive kiosk. We've designed a flash application to run on the kiosk to display information about our business, our publications, etc. We'd also like to be able to access our website through the flash application. We're having trouble figuring out how to do that effectively. The best we can do is to have the application launch Internet Explorer in a seperate window. This isn't so bad if we run IE in kiosk mode, however it becomes difficult/impossible to navigate back to the flash application (or to close the browser) without a mouse and keyboard (which users won't have access to).Wondering if there's a way to open or access a browser inside of the actual flash application, so users can access the flash menu, home buttons, etc and easily navigate back to the information contained in the rest of the flash application.
I've been searching around web and so far found many tutorials/docs on how to install or open air application from a web page. This just opens a new AIR-browser window and that's not what I'm looking for. I'd like it be opened inside a browser frame (even if downloaded first) much like a plain swf file.
I know air file is more or less plain zip, so maybe I could unpack it? What AIR features shouldn't I use for this to work?
I would like to prevent browser scrolling when I use mouse wheel inside flash, even if I put focus on some element inside flash still the browser scrolls.
im trying to make my flash website full screen inside the users browser, is there any way of doing this to the flash file inside the index file? Ive found it hard to find this info online as i dont mean properly full screen, just full screen inside the browser.
I have a simple sendAndLoad XML request that works perfectly on 95% of the computers I have used. I have check crosssite stuff and everything i can think of. Its not browser specific ,os specific, or flash version specific. On these computers I can run the same flash file on a standalone player and everything works flawlessly but inside of any browser it makes the request for the XML file and stops right there. After a while like 10 minutes flash gets tired of waiting and returns not found. I can navigate to the xml file via the same browser. Upgrading Flash doesn't help. The only thing consistent is it only happens to windows computers. The requested URL is the complete URL. I have changed this and still the same.IE or Firefox still the same. Version 9 player in both. I have montiored network traffic and see the request made and maybe a response but flash has moved.
Does anyone know how to get the width and height in ActionScript for a Flex application running inside the flash player in the web browser.
e.g. In the web browser I can use the tag to embed a Flex application (as a .swf). To the embed tag, I can provide the dimensions. I would like to get these dimensions inside the flex application action script.
i have created a silverlight application , but i need to embed it to a Flash file(swf) which it runs with Flash Player ( whithout using browser), I had found a solutions to call it using javascript, but it still needs my flash file run inside the browser, dose any one can help me, Either to run js inside swf (without need of browser) or any other way that i can embed my Silverlight application inside Flash.
