I have created a widget for flash that retrieves the xml rss feed and displays whatever information is in...the title, description, image, etc...Im having a problem to retrieve some very specific information from this XML feed... take a look at how the xml is configured:

I can see span but not div ? Is this a mistake ?
The specific webpage is this [url]... the user select a week and the app reads the "Date" colum and uses the numbers in the same line in a calc... But when i Import this webpage it displays all the text in the webpage... how can i solve this? Can i specify wich data to use?

My main problem is break tags that are entered in by the companies system. i'm not going to be able to take them out so my question is, is there a way to single them out in the xml through as3? and Delete them? It works fine and loads the XML inside the flash authoring environment (ie when i preview with crtl+enter), or when I make an executable projector, but when I try to run the SWF by double-clicking, or when the SWF is on the webserver, the text box doesn't display the data...

View 7 RepliesI am trying to access data from an array. The array is in the root and I am trying to get it's data into a submovie. In as2 it would have been:
mylabel.text = _root.myarray[1];
So, i have tried:
mylabel.text = root.myarray[1];
and
mylabel.text = (this.root as Array).myarray[1];
and tons of other configurations.. I get the 1119 error no matter what i do. I am beginning to think I just can't get the info from the array in a sub movie..

I need to do this because I dont have complete control or curtain aspects and need to change menu tilte data ( French or English ) depending on what the Webpage Title data is displayed. I have serverside code in the title eg.{title} that will start with either "Welcome" or "Bienvenue".

here's the thing, i need to store different values in a 2d array (or something conceptually similar). The idea is to create a 2d map with tiles and the array would save the ID of every tile in the map. I'm trying to create something mildly efficient, specially because i need to save some memory usage for later use (it has to do with AI) and it must run on a low end PC, but simply creating an array seems to be a waste of space since i only have about 50 different IDs at any given map.i thought about creating a 2d array of 8bit chars would be sufficient, but that's out of the question with actionscript 3, it doesn't have 8bit char data type.

How can I retrieve the data in the datagrid? note that I am not talking about clicking on the datagrid and selecting a cell. I want to read ALL the contents in all the columns.
I call the constructor from a fla file but i cant get a hold of the GamaDataArray via the getGameData() Function it keeps saying that the GameDataArray is Empty, but if i trace within the class it works, when i go to the fla file it says its empty. Can somebody please tell me what i am missing, i know its something super small

I've made a few sites a few years ago with flash CS3/AS2 and using the TextArea as an output for xml content. that really sucked and looked terrible as it flashed white everytime it was loading (especially on slow connections). so I don't want to go that route again.sir!ok, so I have a banner that has 3 text elements per page (with various graphics per page behind the text) ...all text needs to be live as it is fed by 3 different languages. (referably the image link too)1. consistant big title across 8 pages2. sub-title that changes per page3. paragraph of text per sub-title4. the background imageEach of the 8 "slides" lasts about 6 seconds each (this part im fine with and sorted in AS2...but not AS3). On the top left are 8 numbered buttons that a user can click on to view whichever "slide" they may have missed or whatever. (this part i'm ok with....just the external text and formating are the issue)how would i go about setting this up via dynamic text with either XML or PHP in CS4/AS3? (using dynamic text fields, but so its nicely formated).
