Is it possible to, using javascript, either create video data on the fly, or more likely download pieces of video data from various sources and feed them to a flash player instance.
Even better, is it possible to feed a html5 video stream from locally executed javascript?

Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.
I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.
I've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)

But on the project detail pages, there are Flash videos that also change slightly based on which color scheme is selected.

If you start playing the video, and change color schemes, the flash player will change to the right color, but on refreshing, it doesn't remember that change. How do I modify to code below so that the Flash player reads the correct color scheme and takes action?

I've looked through the html page and other resources using chrome developers tools. I found a lot of data, but couldnt figure it out which data I need.

I have bought Learning AS 3.0 (O'Reilly) but I have been having difficulty getting one of the tutorials to run. The tutorial shows how to record data from a microphone to a byte array, playback the saved data and save as a WAV file. For some reason, I can't get this working. When the swf runs, the Flash Settings screen doesn't pop up to request permission to access the microphone but I can still trace properties such as gain.

I'm basically looking for something that can play/stream a variety of formats if possible (or if not, to have an easy way for non-technies to convert them to the desired format). I'm also looking for something easy to setup - like including a javascript tag at the top of the page and then perhaps using a div, or just 1 line of script code to make it work. If it's flash, then have to be simple to setup too.

If I place the video in a div that is not hidden (display:none actually), the video starts as expected. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div.[URL]..

So if you're trying to picture it, it would be something like this: the tool bar at the botom would have the usual seek bar, volume control, play/pause buttons etc, and now an additional button that when clicked would trasform the tool bar into a text box which can be used to enter comments while watching videos. View 1 RepliesOur web application has a feature which uses Flash (AS3) to take photos using the user's web cam, then passes the resulting byte array to PHP where it is reconstructed and saved on the server. However, we need to be able to take this web application offline, and we have chosen Gears to do so. The user takes the app offline, performs his tasks, then when he's reconnected to the server, we "sync" the data back with our central database.
We don't have PHP to interact with Flash anymore, but we still need to allow users to take and save photos. We don't know how to save a JPG that Flash creates in a local database. Our hope was that we could save the byte array, a serialized string, or somehow actually persist the object itself, then pass it back to either PHP or Flash (and then PHP) to recreate the JPG. Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.
Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.
I am using YouTube JS API to play videos on my site. Video is played on the dialog box. When user closes the dialog box, player is stopped - player.stopVideo(); But when user clicks again on video icon again, dialog box appears
In Chrome, the video starts playing at the previous position - OK Firefox, the video starts playing from the start irrespective of where user left it last time. - NOT OK
As per my requirements, I want the Chrome to behave as how firefox is behaving.

I'm creating website which needs video stream from surveillance camera implemented. Camera is GeoVision GV-FD120D 1.3Mpix LowLux IR 2.7-9mm and it is linked to server which I have full access to (I dont have direct access to camera)
I was playing around with settings on this cam and I managed to turn on RTSP protocol access for this camera. Then I used VLC (on server) to open network stream with address: [URL]Works!
Ideally I would like to show the video in player like jwplayer , however it does not support RTSP protocol, but RTMP instead.
So I guess I would need some kind of software on this server to:
1) transcode the video stream from RTSP -> RTMP
2) stream it out from server so I can connect to it with jwplayer later
I heard of Wowza media server but the budget is pretty tight for this project so would rather use free solution here.
I am working on my open source project Downloadify, and up until now it simply handles returning Strings in response to ExternalInterface.call commands.
I am trying to put together a test case using JSZip and Downloadify together, the end result being that a Zip file is created dynamically in the browser, then saved to the disk using FileReference.save. However, this is my problem:
The JSZip library can return either a base64 encoded string of the Zip, or the raw byte string. The problem is, if I return that byte string in response to the ExternalInterface.call command, I get this error:
Error #1085: The element type "string" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</string>"

Where queue_name is just a string used to identify the correct instance in JS.

If I instead return a normal string instead of the byte string, the call works correctly.I would like to avoid using base64 as I would have to include a base64 decoder in my swf which will increase its size.

Is there a tool, any type of programming library, or a way to capture live feed of Flash video and save it? I don't want to capture the screen but rather like to capture the actual feed.

The expected behavior would be for both Video's to display the same content. However, it seems that the last video I attach the NetStream to is the only Video that will display the content.Has anyone else run into this? I'd rather not go to the inelegant steps of using BitmapData to clone pixels if I don't have to.

View 6 RepliesI've made a few sites a few years ago with flash CS3/AS2 and using the TextArea as an output for xml content. that really sucked and looked terrible as it flashed white everytime it was loading (especially on slow connections). so I don't want to go that route again.sir!ok, so I have a banner that has 3 text elements per page (with various graphics per page behind the text) ...all text needs to be live as it is fed by 3 different languages. (referably the image link too)1. consistant big title across 8 pages2. sub-title that changes per page3. paragraph of text per sub-title4. the background imageEach of the 8 "slides" lasts about 6 seconds each (this part im fine with and sorted in AS2...but not AS3).
