Javascript :: Disable 'Download This Video' Real Player Button In Browser?

Oct 29, 2010

Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.

Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.

Javascript :: Disable IE9 Browser Caching?

Oct 3, 2011

I have a Flash application that sends a getURL request for an image file every 60 seconds.

This works fine in all browsers except IE9 with Internet Option set to automatically check for newer versions of stored pages. I setup Charles proxy (http://xk72.com) to watch the requests being sent by my flash app and confirmed that the request is being surpressed by IE9 when the setting is set to Auto, but works fine if I change the setting to check everytime I visit the webpage. This, however, is not an option! I need this to work in all browsers regardless of how the options are set.

Even if I do a page refresh (F5), the ASP page does not reload. The only way to get it to reload is close the browser and restart it.

I have tried adding content headers to disable caching but it does not appear to work.

For Example, here is my request headers:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date Sun, 02 Oct 2011 23:58:31 GMT
Server Microsoft-IIS/6.0
X-Powered-By ASP.NET
Expires Tue, 09 Nov 2010 14:59:39 GMT
Cache-control no-cache
max-age 0
Content-Length 9691
Content-Type text/html
Set-Cookie ASPSESSIONIDACQBSACA=ECJPCLHADMFBDLCBHLJFPBPH; path=/
Cache-control private

I have read the Microsoft blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2010/07/14/caching-improvements-in-internet-explorer-9.aspx) which states that if I add the content headers, the browser should respect my request, but it obviously does not.

I don't think this is a Flash issue since the html page that holds the Flash object will not even reload.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Player - Streaming Or Progressive Download?

Jul 20, 2011

I've developed a video player using NetConnection/NetStream that works fine, in as2 and also in as3. The peculiarity of my player is that read an xml file (editable by a cms) that sets if needed some "cuepoints". In the stream version it's not possible to inject ascuepoints in the video file, so i read the xml and with a listener i set a menu that sets the seek point of the video. Also the user when watch video sets an exit point by closing it. From the second time the user lands on the player, my code put the seek point in the last position seen.

I've seen youtube player and I know that youtube uses progressive download. It's awesome to know that because you can jump from one position to another like a streaming service. It seems an hybrid version with the capabilities of the streaming and the band saving of the progressive download. There's something that i can't imagine..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Player - Adding Seek From Download Functionality

Sep 1, 2011

I have a video player that doesn't have "seek from unloaded time" functionality. I want to add it now. I simply load video like this;
stream.play("vidurl.flv");
(pseudo streaming)
Server side is ready. I can call videos like videourl.flv?start=xxx but cant play them in player cuz video comes without metadata
To sum up:
1. stream.play("vidurl.flv"); works, video plays
2. user clicks to seek bar. on unloaded part. I get the position and convert it to seconds
stream.play("vidurl.flv?start=10");
Doesn't work! No metadata what I should do after?

Flash :: Javascript - How Does A Browser Interact With A Player Or A Java Applet

Nov 9, 2010

I've been trying to understand how flash animations or a Java Applet work within a browser. I can think of a couple of ways - The Flash Player/Java Applet are machine code that's dynamically linked it, and given some parameters about the area of the screen that belongs to them; after that, they run within the same process space. The browser exposes an API that the player/applet use to talk to it and they live in a separate process. (Presumably they talk via sockets?) The API could correspond to openGL/X11/some custom calls.

These possibilities still don't explain things like how a button click can make the player full-screen, how it can play music, how it can inspect the DOM, etc. For that matter, is the video displayed by decoding to a sequence of images, and rendering them one at a time, or is there a more efficient way, e.g., of pushing the deltas in the image? The Wikipedia page on Java Applets

(1) talks about how the applet is run in a sandbox (presumably a separate process), but it doesn't say how the browser and the applet communicate. Perhaps the answer depends on the underlying platform?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Download A File To The PC Through The Normal Browser Download Manager?

Jul 1, 2010

So I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.

I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.

However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.

Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.

Flash :: Download Multible Files With JavaScript(one Download)?

Feb 22, 2011

I generate a HTML page with VB.Net which stores several pinks to files. These links are formatted with JavaScript looking like the Windows-Explorer with folders and files. The problem: There are only download links for the files, not for Folders. A folder can contain Subfolders ,a List of Files or a combination of both. So if I want to download a folder, I have to click manually on every file-link. I have not the possibility to insert PHP or another Server-side language. my question now is: Is there a client side way to Download them by click on a Folder? I prefer Javascript but If it isn't possible Flash will be ok also.

Javascript :: Video Not Playing In IE In Hidden Div Using JW Player, SWFObject And FancyZoom?

I have a video that is meant to start playing when a user clicks on an image and said image opens a FancyZoom overlay. It works fine in every browser except IEs. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div.[URL]..

Javascript :: Flash Video Player That Supports Streaming M4v Files

Nov 30, 2010

I'm looking for a Flash video player that is able to stream m4v files on all browsers. Example file: [URL]

Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.

I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.

Javascript :: Hide And Show Flash Video Player With ExternalInterface?

Mar 1, 2011

I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.

ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.

Javascript :: Embed A Comment Box Within The Video Player That Can Be Accessed By A Click?

Dec 30, 2011

So I was wondering if there was a way to create a video player or edit some open source video player with the functionality that users can add comments straight from the video player. So if you're trying to picture it, it would be something like this: the tool bar at the botom would have the usual seek bar, volume control, play/pause buttons etc, and now an additional button that when clicked would trasform the tool bar into a text box which can be used to enter comments while watching videos. The comments would then be entered below the video.
