Disable Browser Scrolling With Middle Mouse Scroll Button?
Mar 31, 2010
I have a flash element on my page that you interact with by using the middle mouse scroll wheel. The page is long. So when scrolling with the mouse wheel it interacts with the Flash element AND scrolls the browser window.
Is there a way to disable browser scrolling while the Flash element is active?
I just made a scroll area with buttons and draggable items. All the code is written for vertical scrolling, the content I need to be scrolled is going to be horizontal. how can I rewrite this code to be horizontal scrolling? it seems like the scroll button (the one you drag along) doesn't stay confined to its scroll line either.
When i scroll the scrollBar in Flash the browser is scrolling too. What i need is to stop scrolling the browser and scroll only the flash box. And the Browser have to scroll only then when the flash scrollbar is in end.
Here's the scenario... I have an .swf that is 1050px in height. On most browser's that is too tall. What I'd like to do, is use the browser's scroll bars to auto scroll to the bottom of the page during the loading sequence, and then scroll back up to the top. To do this, I'll need to make a javascript function call using ExternalInterface.call();
I found a suitable smooth scrolling javascript example on the internet. [URL] By clicking <a href> links, it scrolls to HTML anchors on the page. I figured that instead of clicking on the textual links like in that example, I could simulate the event by calling the event from flash. I'm just not sure how to do it exactly.
I'm pretty familiar with Actionscript, and this one has me completely stumped. What I'm trying to do is to prevent people from scrolling a TextArea with their mouse wheel, as the TextArea is inside of a ScrollPane, and at the moment scrolling one will scroll the other (double scrolling). Initially I tried[code]...
Is it possible to disable mousewheel scrolling on my webpage while the cursor is over my flex application?
My flex application is a map that allows user to zoom in and out using the mousewheel; however, when I put my flex app onto my webpage, the scrollwheel causes the page to scroll instead of zooming in and out.[code]...
I'm listening for MOUSE_MOVE events.They are sent and received just fine unless the middle mouse button is held down. I don't get any more MOUSE_MOVE events until the middle button is released.Is this an issue with Flash, or something to do with my specific ouse/computer configuration (bluetooth Mighty Mouse on Lion)?Are there any known workarounds?Here is a sample project to demonstrate the problem.Left click and drag traces mouse move events, but middle click only shows middle mouse down and middle mouse up.
is there anyway when i use scroll bar component in flash... how do i make it so that i can be controlled by your mouse scroll button.. thing.... ( if its possible )
I'm trying to achieve a scrolling effect like this one.[URL].. I'm trying to achieve a scrolling effect similar to that where the page will scroll with the mouse and rotate like that, also have a maximum scroll and rotation, but also be able to be pushed aside for sub content.
I'm obviously not asking anyone to build the whole thing for me, just point me in the right direction.
a little question can any one help, regarding runnning mouse scroll action in Firefox, I have a rotating menu AS3 which uses mouse scroll to rotate a wheel, it works in IE7 great but when view in firefox the mouse scroll does not work!
I made a website in Flash CS3. I published the file into html format. Now when I open the html file in a web browser I cannot use my mouse wheel to scroll the page up nor down. However the browser's scroll bar allows me to scroll up and down and i can scroll the page up and down if I place my mouse to the left side of the page where the page shows the background color of my flash document's stage. I want to be able to scroll using my mouse wherever the mouse is located on the website. Details about my flash file are as follows:
- It contains only Action script 2.0 coding. - the layout is made out of movie clip and button symbols. - i used a scrollPane component for one of my text and image contents. - I used a UIscrollbar component for all the text inside my image gallery (which is a movie clip containing the scrollable text areas) I am including below the coding formats used for buttons in my file in hopes that it provides clues to the scrolling error :
I have created on scroll box w/two scroll bars; one on each side of the scroll box (don't ask me why, its necessary). I have both scroll bars working; each scroll bar button/bar moves the text in the .y dir. The interesting thing is that when I use the right scroll bar it works until I try to use the left scroll bar. When I use the left scroll bar it only moves the text half the distance, and if I go back to the right scroll bar, it does the same thing. Like the math has somehow intersect and causes each of the Bar/Buttons to go only half the distance. What I think I need to do is add a conditional statement that says that if scrollbarbutton01 is click, scrollbarbutton02 is disabled (null or removeEventListener) and visa versa.
Question regarding runnning mouse scroll action in Firefox, I have a rotating menu which uses mouse scroll to rotate a wheel, it works in IE7 great but when view in firefox the mouse scroll does not work!
Essentially, I have flash content that scrolls on mouse wheel. It works fine, unless there is other content in the browser such that the browser's scrollbar is enabled - when that is the case, both the browser window AND my SWF scroll on mouse wheel. Is there any way to correct this behavior?
Similar question asked here:
disable mouse wheel scrolling while cursor over flex app?
which references the solution blogged about here:
[URL]
But the solution does not work on all browsers! While it works on some Windows browsers, it doesn't work at all on Mac OS X - it registers mouse wheel events in Firefox, but they are not getting fired at all in Chrome and Safari.
Now I know that (per the official Adobe InteractiveObject docs) mouse wheel is supposedly only supported on Windows systems, but the event is still fired by default on Mac OS X. Is this simultaneous scroll bug the reason it is not supported?
Edit: adding more info on above solution...
Note that the above solution basically uses ExternalInterface to send the following JavaScript to the "eval" function:
var browserScrolling; function allowBrowserScroll(value) { browserScrolling = value;
After adding a mouseListener via Mouse.addListener to my flash movie the mouse wheel event is not bubbling to the browser when the mouse cursor is placed over the flash moviePeople all over google are complaining that in AS3 the event is bubbling and it is hard to stop it but in AS2 I wasn't able to find a solution to get the behaviour just as it is in AS3.Some code:
var mouseListener:Object = new Object(); mouseListener.onMouseMove = function() { trace("mouseMove");
I have a dynamic textbox I would like to scroll. Currently I have 2 images set to scroll up and down with the following actionscript.
[Code]...
The code works fine, though I want when I press, the box to keep scrolling. Currently I have to press, press, press, press, to get a small amount down.
I have a 700px heigh movie, which makes the browser scrollbar appear on most resolutions. If I focus on the html part the mouse wheel works fine; however if I bring the focus to the flash movie (simply clicking on it) it doesn't work anymore! This started to happen when I added the numericStepper component to the stage even if the focus is not on it.
else I'm going to get my hears pulled by the flash-accessibility-sucks people.
Haven't been here for a while and I'm really rusty using Flash. I looking for a tutorial or some information on how to scroll thumbnails by scrolling the mouse left or right over the thumbnails.
Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.
Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.
I know this is a question that comes up, but there has to be another way that I haven't found, maybe simply because I was search for the right keywords.Common enough question, I'm sure; I have a flash program, published in a projector and I don't want the menu to pop-up when the mouse is right clicked.Stage.showMenu = false; and fscommand("showmenu",false)have both been tried, disables most of the menu, but the drop down menu for global settings still appears.There has to be a way to set it so the right mouse button is off entirely when in the program. I've seen script that recognizes each of the different mouse buttons to assign a different response, I've seen a script designed to turn off the mouse so it can't be clicked during a tween transition; there has to be a way to program an event, or something, that will recognize the button and ignore all input from it. What is it?
I have a tall web site that requires browser scrolling.When a button is clicked, the main movie is replaced by another, and unfortunately, the viewer isn't brought back to the top of the page.Here's the site: http:[url].....Scroll down, and click on the purple box that says "Knowledge & Experience."You will see my dilemma.how to make the browser scroll back to the top when a button is clicked?
I have an external loaded mc text file scrolling and easingjust fine, my only issue is that when first pressed (scroller_mc),it jumps half way down my scroll line (line_mc). Every thing elseworks perfect after the scroll button (scroller_mc) makes theinitial jump to the middle of the scroll line. I have followed utorial 4 times and saw no mention of a bug, and
//---------------code---------------// var textLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var textFile:URLRequest = new
I have a MC(image) in the center of my screen, and have two buttons, one on right and one on left side of that MC. I want to scroll (image is like a menu) that MC left or right on mouse events, down or over. So, I just want to change MCs X value while holding mouse button on buttons or just hovering over them. I have managed to do that, but it's only moving by one value I have entered after a mouse event. Here's a piece of code I did.
buttonL1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, buttonL1Pressed); function buttonL1Pressed(event:MouseEvent):void{ var temp:int = 0; var temp1:int = 0;
As stated in the title, I am now trying to create a chart using Google visualization: annotated time line. It's very easy to use and the documentation is fairly easy to understand as well. You can find the documentation here.I run into a problem about the wmode of the chart which is a flash object.The default value of the chart's wmode is "window" and it will always overlay all HTML objects in the same page. That is very annoying, because even the jquery block() method doesn't work on it.
When I change the chart's wmode into "opaque" or "transparent" the chart will not overlay HTML objects with higher z-index, but it doesn't recognize the mouse scroll event. It still catch the mouse click event though.I have tried it in the following browser:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.2; U; en) Presto/2.7.62 Version/11.00 Safari 4.0.5 (531.22.7) IE 7.0.5730.13
Only the IE can catch the mouse scroll even, the others couldn't recognize it.
I have my swf file, how do i set the alignment so its always centered in the browser at the top & in the middle, it keeps going top left corner, also how do make the page always fit to screen size?
I'm building a website here and It's a fullscreen flash site. Everything is grouped into an MC on the main timeline. This main MC has a Navigation MC with buttons in it and a Content MC. And I'm using this code on the MC to keep it all centered in the browser:
And when I run this swf in an html file, it doesn't center in the middle of the browser... It's way over to the right. It just wont stay in the center of the browser window like its supposed to...
Do you ever have a question that has been asked all over the Internet...with nothing but shitty answers? This seems to be one of those questions: What's the best way to continuously scroll text while a user holds the mouse button down? (By the way, I'm not using the timeline, so don't waste your time telling me to use EVENT.ENTER_FRAME.)
