Javascript :: Switching A Flash Video Player's Color Scheme Based On Set Cookie
May 3, 2011
I've got a web site up and running that allows the user to choose a dark or light color scheme
But on the project detail pages, there are Flash videos that also change slightly based on which color scheme is selected.
[URL]
If you start playing the video, and change color schemes, the flash player will change to the right color, but on refreshing, it doesn't remember that change. How do I modify to code below so that the Flash player reads the correct color scheme and takes action?
Pertinant code is here (full JS file is here: http://www.centerline.net/lib/js/site-unmin.js):
//Switches color of Flash Video player on detail pages
function updateColor(color) {
[Code].....

I need to find a flash video player that is free and open source. I love flowplayer and jwplayer but we fit into their most expensive licenses. It will cost us over $1400 to license flowplayer for our use. We don't have that right now.
I just need a flash player with a basic javascript api that is truly free. I have been googling for hours and nothing so far.
It would be a huge plus if someone knows of a chromeless youtube player that uses the youtube as3 api. I don't have time right now to code an entire chromeless player complete with all the controls and a progress bar.

I am creating a portfolio site and I am trying to create a 'color scheme' option. This would allow the user to pick a color and all of the mcs and the rollover text would change to that color, or a shade of that color.

We have a flash video that was created for our project, we dont the source so we have to work around the compiled flash file. We are going to host the video on our domain and the video creates a sol cookie (flash cookie) file to store how far the user has proceeded though the video. So my plan is to access this cookie to see how far the user has progressed and then fire an event when they have finished the movie.
I have been googling for some help but haven't found to much. I have found out that its possible to do in javascript and I have found some .net sol file viewers but haven't seen any examples I can get my mind around.
I have watched the traffic that gets created with fiddler and every time the next button is clicked a new request is fired with the swt file that is being accessed. I would also be happy with tracking every time one of these swt files has been accessed as well.

I have a SWF loaded via a "swfobject.embedSWF()"I use Javascript's methods to pass calls via the flash APIs:call.player.sendEvent('LOAD', theFile)Using a XMLHttpRequest() call via GET to a PHP script I get a file url:Typing the URL into my browser starts the file, but passing the variable to the sendEvent() call does nothing. Why?
var response = http.responseText;
loadFile(response);
player.sendEvent('PLAY');

Is it possible to read first party cookies from flash?It should be noted that we have complete access to javascript via the ExternalInterface class.So, now the question is - can we access first party cookie from javascript? Our javascript code will be loaded by a website which is not hosted by us. This makes the cookies created by that website - first party cookies. How can we access these "first" party cookies?

I have a flash video player in a div inside a webpage, I'm trying to create a button that will resize this div to fill the whole page and hide everything else behind it. Has anyone tried to do it?Problems:1. It causes the flash to reload and the video to restart2. In some cases a flash banner from the webpage overlays my video player no matter what z-index I give it.

I'm looking for a Flash video player that is able to stream m4v files on all browsers. Example file: [URL]
Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.

I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.

I've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)

Is it possible to, using javascript, either create video data on the fly, or more likely download pieces of video data from various sources and feed them to a flash player instance.
Even better, is it possible to feed a html5 video stream from locally executed javascript?

I have a client where some of their employees have flash installed and some don't. So always using the swfuploader module widget isn't going to work and it doesn't gracefully fall back to HTML. In fact it just leaves a non-functioning button in its wake.
So what I would like to do is detect when they don't have Flash available and switch to the standard Drupal File Upload widget. Now in my head it seems like this would only work if done on the server-side. But can that even be done reliably on the server side?
Also, can this on-the-fly widget switching even work in Drupal or will it pitch a fit?

I have js all set up and tested to check for cookie. If cookie set I ant to disable the swf.
The code in my AS is as follows::
import fl.video.*;import fl.video.MetadataEvent;import flash.external.ExternalInterface;import flash.system.fscommand;//-----------------------------------------function
[Code]....
and have this in the init() called by page load it does not work. I was going to use the play variable to kill the loading of the swf but can't figure out how best to make that work.
So, my questions:
Best way to facilitate this action:
1. In AS by calling the function by:
a. Timeline
b. AS callback from <body onLoad
2. Using js to call the fucntion in the external js and then blocking loading of the swf in the html page.
I don't want to spend anymore time exploring alternatives as this is very frustrating. I am assuming that 1.b is the best route.

I have a simple HTML page that contains two tabs that show/hide content in the same space.The first tab contains an SWF file that is embedded using SWFObject.js.When switching between tabs, I would like the SWF file to pause or stop. This works fine on all browsers except IE7+, which is a known problem.What could be possible resolutions?A simple solution would be to remove the SWF file from the DOM and re-insert it every time the first tab is selected and loadedThe SWF file is generated using Adobe Captivate 5. Do I need to expose a pause/stop method using ExternalInterface API that Javascript/jQuery can call? Or, is there a standard method for pause/stop that is exposed for all SWF files that I can simply call?

As the title indicates the question is in regards to the service layer of a flex application. Specifically in a test case class. To call the services the user must first authenticate through an html/CF based page. Once that's done and the authentication has occurred the user is directed to the html page with the flex application embedded in. Once authenticated the server side CF code writes a cookie to the users computer. This cookie is then read by the flex app and is required for the flex app to make calls to the CF services.
The question is: how should this be handled in a test case class for the service class in the flex app? The following steps need to basically take place: use some account data to hit the server and authenticate, the cookie then needs to be written (which it will already), then the test case needs to pick up the session id from the cookie and pass it to the service call within the test case. That just all seems like too much for a test case class.
So, how is this type of thing usually handled. From what I gather it's typical for web service calls to require a session id like this.

The problem is FlexPlayer.swf is loading every time and I need to cache this SWF file. Maybe I should use Javascript constructor but don't know how in this case.

I am working to add a transparent flash video to a site of a person walking out. The problem is that I don't want the video to play every time the home page is loaded, so I set a 24hr cookie that if detected the div containing the video is set to hide. This works perfectly in Google Chrome and FF, the problem is in IE the div is apparently hidden because you cannot see the video but the audio of the video is still heard. Perhaps there is a different way to do this then the way I am going about it and maybe even a way to do a remove instead of hide?[code]...

I'm basically looking for something that can play/stream a variety of formats if possible (or if not, to have an easy way for non-technies to convert them to the desired format). I'm also looking for something easy to setup - like including a javascript tag at the top of the page and then perhaps using a div, or just 1 line of script code to make it work. If it's flash, then have to be simple to setup too.

I have a video that is meant to start playing when a user clicks on an image and said image opens a FancyZoom overlay. It works fine in every browser except IEs. If I place the video in a div that is not hidden (display:none actually), the video starts as expected. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div.[URL]..

So I was wondering if there was a way to create a video player or edit some open source video player with the functionality that users can add comments straight from the video player. So if you're trying to picture it, it would be something like this: the tool bar at the botom would have the usual seek bar, volume control, play/pause buttons etc, and now an additional button that when clicked would trasform the tool bar into a text box which can be used to enter comments while watching videos. The comments would then be entered below the video.

Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.
Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.

I am using YouTube JS API to play videos on my site. Video is played on the dialog box. When user closes the dialog box, player is stopped - player.stopVideo(); But when user clicks again on video icon again, dialog box appears
In Chrome, the video starts playing at the previous position - OK Firefox, the video starts playing from the start irrespective of where user left it last time. - NOT OK
As per my requirements, I want the Chrome to behave as how firefox is behaving.
Here's a fiddle: [URL]
