We have a flash video that was created for our project, we dont the source so we have to work around the compiled flash file. We are going to host the video on our domain and the video creates a sol cookie (flash cookie) file to store how far the user has proceeded though the video. So my plan is to access this cookie to see how far the user has progressed and then fire an event when they have finished the movie.
I have been googling for some help but haven't found to much. I have found out that its possible to do in javascript and I have found some .net sol file viewers but haven't seen any examples I can get my mind around.
I have watched the traffic that gets created with fiddler and every time the next button is clicked a new request is fired with the swt file that is being accessed. I would also be happy with tracking every time one of these swt files has been accessed as well.
I am working to add a transparent flash video to a site of a person walking out. The problem is that I don't want the video to play every time the home page is loaded, so I set a 24hr cookie that if detected the div containing the video is set to hide. This works perfectly in Google Chrome and FF, the problem is in IE the div is apparently hidden because you cannot see the video but the audio of the video is still heard. Perhaps there is a different way to do this then the way I am going about it and maybe even a way to do a remove instead of hide?[code]...
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to read first party cookies from flash?It should be noted that we have complete access to javascript via the ExternalInterface class.So, now the question is - can we access first party cookie from javascript? Our javascript code will be loaded by a website which is not hosted by us. This makes the cookies created by that website - first party cookies. How can we access these "first" party cookies?
View 1 RepliesBefore Entering my site, I have a flash intro that is played, and now, I want to know how I can make it so that if the intro page has already been seen, that it does not show it next time, until the cookie expires or is deleted.
View 3 RepliesI've got a web site up and running that allows the user to choose a dark or light color scheme
But on the project detail pages, there are Flash videos that also change slightly based on which color scheme is selected.
[URL]
If you start playing the video, and change color schemes, the flash player will change to the right color, but on refreshing, it doesn't remember that change. How do I modify to code below so that the Flash player reads the correct color scheme and takes action?
Pertinant code is here (full JS file is here: http://www.centerline.net/lib/js/site-unmin.js):
//Switches color of Flash Video player on detail pages
function updateColor(color) {

I need to save email-id in my login form through the cookies. if I use shared object I am able to save but my requirement is need to save in cookies. How can I save? I got sample code from net. Attaching that code `package com {
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
/**
* The Cookie class provides a simple way to create or access
* cookies in the embedding HTML document of the application.

I am changing the flashvars variables v1=value&v2=value ect then after the flash movie runs I am changing the variables externally by javascript, so far so good.when flash first loads it reads the vars correctly.when I try to read them ( after the change ) it keeps reading the old values.[code]everything works except I cannot seem to read the changed FlashVars.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems with External interface and IE9. The swf objects play fine but none of the information input is transferred to the cookies that should be set. I have seen that there are other questions similar to this but have not been able to solve my problem using them. THis is the html we are using
<div id="flashcentre">
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"data="http://workingflashlink" width="600" height="450">

This is my AC3 code

I want to call a function inside a Flash movie from javascript, using the ExternalInterface class. The problem is that to get it to work with Firefox I need to use the embed element and with the rest I have to get the object element. To solve it, I gave different ids to that two elements and depending on the user agent I select one or the other:
function getMovie(movieName) {
alert(navigator.userAgent);
if (navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Firefox") != -1) {
[Code].....
This works, but it is not very elegant and it may not work with other browsers..
I am calling an Actionscript function from JavaScript and it works in all browsers except for IE9. I narrowed it down to the js function that retrieves the movie object:
<script type="text/javascript">
var swf;

I'm trying to call a function in my ActionScript from my JavaScript, I've managed to successfully do this with another flash file but in the current one it's failing for some reason. I'm using jQuery SWFEmbed, this is my JS code:[code]The ExternalInterface.call work, and the trace outputs true, I have no idea what's going on.If you could also tell me how I can pass parameters to a ExternalInterface callback.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to get some javascript to work in Flash. However, nothing seems to be happening. I tested the exact code in html and it seems to work fine (calls the image). Is there some setting in Flash that enables this. here is the code:
ActionScript Code:
frame1_mc.onRelease = function():Void{
getURL ("javascript:NewWindow=window.open('largeImages/n_img1_li.jpg', 'newWin',
'width=400, height=300, left=0, top=0, toolbar=No, location=No, scrollbars=No, status=No,

I use jquery.flash() plugin to embed flash into my website. The problem is that in IE6 this doesn't work. I tried swfobject (1.5), also, but it gives me (sometimes) some strange errors with n null or something like that, so I decided to use jquery.flash() also. (I use both swfobject and jquery.flash() now)
So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.
The website is [URL]
I want to implement Open Flash Chart in my website but it doesn't work. The chart just start loading for a second and the loader animation disappear and nothing happening (Only a blank swf area). i've downloaded the latest version which is 2 and here is my folders scheme:
// ROOT //
● JS
● open-flash-chart
● php-ofc-library
[Code]....
The JS folder contain swfobject and the open-flash-chart folder contain the action script classes of the chart
there is a problem with IE browser it does not recognize object HTMLEmbedElement and not proceed for further execution . i have no choice because there is nothing to be updated in programming code
View 2 RepliesI have a bizarre situation in IE where JS can't call up into flash using ExternalInterface after I hit "refresh". I know the movie is getting loaded and the code that does the ExternalInterface.addCallback() appears to be completing without any error Here's a rundown of the steps to reproduce:
Open IE and load up the movie for the first time, the ExternalInterface callback methods are available to JavaScript. If I hit refresh, the callback methods aren't available and I get the error Object doesn't support this property or method.If I clear my cache and refresh the page, they are available again.If I then hit refresh again without clearing my cache, they're unavailable.If I close the browser and reopen, they're available again.
I've run into this situation before and I'm pretty sure that the extra delay required to download and instantiate the swf is what's allowing ExternalInterface to get set up properly. The way I worked around this before was to add a random number to the end of the swf's url, so that it's never used from cache, but that's not a real solution.

i have been trying every possible way to stop and pause and play the JWplayer latest version using its JavaScript API and nothing works.

I have avoided adobe products like the plague from when I was developing myself since it costs a fortune to buy and of their products, but big employers love it and pay for it so here I am. Our "Flash" guy just left the team and I inherited this issue. If you read my other post you know what is going on so I will move on. I want to make a simple call from actionscript to my javascript taht is referenced in my other post. I specifically want to call the CheckboxCollection function from inside of actionscript. I don't need to pass it any args or anything of the such from inside of actionscript.
All I need it to do is run that function once the flash is done loading. The javascript function will take care of everything I need, I just HAVE TO HAVE IT called from actionscript to make everything work in harmony. I am in the middle of teaching myself all things adobe and actionscript(much to my dismay), but I really have no clue where top go from here to make this work. I have reviewed adobe documentation, but until I have a better grasp of the language as a whole I am still lost. I copied most of my actionscript on to here, but I did leave out everything that had to deal with mouseover events, since my issue is not about a mouseover and they all work like a charm.
UPDATE: I had to stop working on this to get some other things done, but I am back to step one. NO matter what I do I am having no luck making this work. I have tried all suggestions on here, and tried everything I KNOW how to do, but I am having no luck. If anyone could take a look at this post and the one that I link to (It is the companion javascript for this) and see if they can come up with anything. I have tried so many different iterations of my code there is no use putting all of my trials up for example of what doesn't work,
/*
JavaScript External Calls
*/
function RegisterExternalCalls():void
{
if(ExternalInterface.available)

As you can tell by the title, I am having some trouble with AS3 ExternalInterface and jQuery / swfobject.
[Code]...
It's giving the first alert ('init') but then not doing the last one. I'm completely baffled and hope someone can point out my mistakes! (there's bound to be a massively obvious one somewhere)
I am having a flash application where I want to send parameters to it via the javascript from a defaul.aspx page. I have a parameter called Id where it can accept alphanumeric values. The query string in the url works fine if I enter just numbers for the Id, and takes me to the specific page related to that id , but if I enter a combination of numbers and characters like 001A , it does not work.
This is the code I used
<script type="text/javascript">
function getQueryVariable(variable) {
var query = window.location.search.substring(1);
var vars = query.split("&");
for (var i=0; i<vars.length; i++) {
[Code] .....
And then passed the flashvars into swfobject.embedSWF. I also don't want to change anything in my mxml files in flash side.
I have a problem with flashvars , when I read the url from browser if I have assigned just numbers to Id (my paramter in url) ,everything works fine, but if my id includes character, then it does not work , I don't want to change anything in flash side in mxml files, I want to do it with javascript
here is my code
<script type="text/javascript">
function getQueryVariable(variable)
{

I have a very odd issue with Firefox 3. Take the following code
ExternalInterface.addCallback("startAds", null, startAds);
function startAds() {
debug("Calling startAds");
[Code].....
The startAds function is called from javascript. When run in IE 6 & 7 everything works fine. When run in Firefox 3 i can see it enter the function and even assign and intervalId but the function set in the setInterval function never gets called. If i call setAds from actionscript and run it in Firefox 3 it works ok. Its just when the startAds function is called from javascript in Firefox 3.
I'm trying to use getURL to open a new window that will have a specified size.I downloaded Macromedia's own tutorial/sample code for how to do this using javascript and cannot get it to work.
Here's their code:
on (release) {
getURL("javascript:openNewWindow('http://www.macromedia.com','thewin','height=400,width=400 ,toolbar=no,scr ollbars=yes') ");
}
[URL]
Nothing happens when I click their button. I tried changing the target, still nothing. I also tried it in Safari and in Firefox with FF's popup blocker turned off. Nothing.

I am doing an Actionscript 3.0 project which involves introspection. I am wondering if there is a way to get all the classes within a given package structure.
[Code]....
I know I've discussed this here in the past, but I can't find back that thread.This javascript code works on the Firefox browser itself, but won't work from within a SWF file.
View 3 RepliesI have a flash player with an external javascript interface: reloadData() I'm calling that function via Javascript when editing information on the page - basically to keep data on the page and in the player in synch. The reloadData() function works fine when the player is hosted locally. When we move it to the CDN (Amazon Cloudfront), the player loads successfully, but the external javascript interface no longer works - console.log(player) reveals the following:
<object type=,"application/x-shockwave-flash" data="[our_cloudfront_url].swf" width="920" height="404" id="player" style="visibility:visible;">
Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an HTMLObjectElement> has no method 'reloadData'
I know there are a lot of things that behave differently when working with items on a CDN, but we're using a CNAME to point to the cloudfront distribution
(buildid.ourdomain.net => distributionid.cloudfront.net)
I am sending over a JavaScript Array to ActionScript. The JavaScript code is as follows:
[Code]....
When I run this on Safari for Windows, arrayInput is null. However, this method works fine in Safari for Mac, IE, FF, Chrome, and the variable holds the actual array.
We have a flash game embedded in a web page (using SWFObject v2.2) and there are some links on the page that call into the flash in the following manner:
window.document["flashObjectId"].flashMethod();
This has worked great on all browsers we have tried including IE7 and 8, however on IE9 it generates the following error: "SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method".
It does work in compatibility mode so I tried adding a meta tag to tell IE9 to use compatibility mode by default, however that didn't work because our game runs in an IFrame within Facebook.
I have tried referencing the flash object every way I could think of in the Javascript but I always get that same error message in IE9.
