ActionScript 3.0 :: Security Server On Port 843?

Jun 24, 2010

I have a socket server running as ROOT on an ubuntu machine on port 843 that sends:[URL]..On my home computer running the TestMovie operation, everything works. BUT, when browsing to the SWF, unless I check and answer policy requests on port 8010 nothing works.

SO, how does the master policy work? I expect that every call from xmlSocket.connect("mydomain.com", 8010) will query port 843 for a master policy. But, it appears that they don't, instead always sending a request to port 8010.

Also, on another note, for testing reasons is there an easy way to send ASII to a port in the same way as one would type into a terminal?

Media Server :: Disabling Port 80 On FMS?

Jul 1, 2010

I am new to the Flash Media Server and have a question on its use of ports. Now if a server has IIS and FMS and one wished only to stream flash (VOD). Could I edit the fms.ini file and remove port 80 from adaptor.hostport?

In my thinking I would stream over port 1935 and would lose the ability to progressive download over port 80.Now I do not ever want to use progressive downloading so no issue so far. In addition I can now run my IIS server on port 80 for my administartor console into FMS.  All my clients are internal and thus I do not need a stream on port 80.

Is my thinking sound or am I misssing something?

Flash :: Forward Port 80 To Media Server And IIS?

Apr 7, 2011

FMS and IIS are set up with separate IPs on the same server. Both are configured for port 80 because others, including 1935, are often inaccessible from certain environments. Problem is, the server's behind a router. Port 80 can only be forwarded to either the IP of FMS or that of IIS. Even if the two were on separate machines, I'd still have to deal with this.

Media Server :: Admin Login Fails With Non-Standard Port?

Oct 28, 2010

I just installed FSMS 4 and could not log into the administration piece (the login s would fail) even though I was using the ID and password specified in the fms.ini file.

During the installation I had specified a different port for the administration port. I changed the port back to 1111 and I could log in with no problem.

Why is the admin login failing if I don't use 1111 as the admin port number ?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Serial Port Communication - Read Input Data From A Serial Port

Jul 24, 2009

In a project that I'm working on, I have to be able to read input data from a serial port. The input data will be very simplistic in nature. I'm guessing more like a on/off, yes/no, true/false style of operation.I have found some examples in other languages, but nothing in AS3 or AS2. Could anyone send any sample code or a link to a tutorial that gives me some lead way on this? Which approach is better, going with a Flash projector piece, or building it in AIR? The final piece will be on a PC based system.

Actionscript 3 :: Flash Client-Server Security?

Nov 26, 2009

My client wants to create an online Flash game. Once they have completed the game, they are awarded a score, which is passed and logged on a server. This score determines whether they win a prize at the end of a set period, depending on the scores of other players.

I need to consider a situation whereby a user wants to cheat by intercepting and modifying the data that is sent to the server. Although I have considered, and would obviously use HTTPS, this wouldn't prevent the actual player from doing this.

It seems to me, that I can't have any kind of secret that the server has knowledge about within the Flash, as this will accessible to the player.

Even though a lot of people on this site seem to be suggesting it in other posts, I am not sure that using an obfuscator is an option due to the value of the prizes at stake. We have used this technique before for lower value prices.

Security - Watermarking Flash Videos (server-side)?

Apr 30, 2010

I have a bunch of flash videos that I need to watermark with user related information, to make illegal re-distribution of these files harder.I'm wondering how can this be done server-side. If done client-side, it will be quite easy for the user to intercept the videos before they are watermarked.Since the watermark should contain user-specific information I can't really watermark the videos before encoding them (unless I have an encoded video per user - not feasible).I'm expecting this to affect the streaming performances a lot, though

Flash :: Asp.net - Parameters - Security - Save Certain Info Onto The Server

May 21, 2010

In Flash, I have the ability to save certain info onto the server. Now the problem is the user needs to be authenticated as admin in order to do so. I can't use sessions, since if you work longer than 20 minutes in the Flash application, the session is gone. The way I see it, I have 2 possibilities:

1. passing a parameter (bIsAdmin) to Flash from the Website.

2. Launch a http-get request, to get this value (bIsAdmin) from an ashx handler
on application startup, when the session has not yet exired.

In my opinion, both possibilities are not really secure... So, which one is safer, 1 or 2?
Or does anybody have a better idea ? In my opinion, 1 is safer, because with 2, you can just switch a packet tamperer in between, and bang, you're admin, with permission to save (or overwrite, =delete) anything.

Before I start I should state I have read it all, I was following this, this and this (and more...) and still I cannot connect to our running server via Socket over the internet.

Here is what I try to in AS3:

[Code]...

We can see from the log output of the server that this is really sent to the connecting socket. A null byte is of course sent after the xml data. And after that, the server closes the connection. However, it seems that Flash somehow does not like it, as "Error #2048" still appears after ~3 seconds.
