Dec 16, 20111. I've installed FMS on OpenSuse 11.4 64 bit, I know that according to the requirements it is not recommended distribution, but common opensuse is very modern and complete.
2. During the installation I had to make a link @libcap.so.1 into the directory where installFMS script was present (because installer says that there is no libcap library which is not true)
3. Completed the installation without installing apache (I have apache on this machine but disabled -> free 80 port)
4. I have left default configuration (regarding user, group, ports: 80 & 1935 + 1111, added the admin user)
5. I started the server with the command ./server start
6. My htop shows: - several processes ./fmsadmin -console -conf ./conf/Server.xml
7. I can connect to the server using the administration console on my localhost. The server is installed on host 192.168.0.160 (local network), I can connect to the server using credentials given earlier
8. I can not connect to the rtmp service or rtmpt service
I am using:
rtmp://192.168.0.160/vod/
or
rtmp://192.168.0.160/vod/sample1_500kbps.f4v
or
rtmp://192.168.0.160:1935/vod/

Media Server :: Difference Between Connecting To 1935 And 80
Jan 18, 2012I was wondering what the difference is between connecting to 1935 and 80. Does one port have an advantage over the other? I know by default 1935 is blocked and it appears to be the perferred port to use, but does port 80 HTTP slow down the stream?

Nov 14, 2011I have installed and ran FMS Development Server 3.5 on my Fedora 15 x32 for a long while now. Everything works fine. However, recently I found out about the upgrades for the server. So I downloaded all of them (3.5.2 - 3.5.7)... the current version I have is 3.5.1... and it works fine. Installing any of the new upgrade versions on the server works fine... and when starting the server doesn't give any errors.
In /var/logs/messages it says:
Server starting...
Server started (/opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).
however, checking the binding of my IP address, it shows no bindings to ports 80 and 1935. The admin server works successfully because I can see binding to port 1111.Whenever I run my test application which I used to run successfully on FMS 3.5.1, I cannot get a connection.So I was wondering whats wrong... why it doesn't bind anymore? is there something wrong with my upgrade process?? I even tried uninstalling whatever I currenltly have and installing the new upgrade... same result.

Jun 19, 2009I'm a systems administrator at an ISP running many FMS 3.5.1 instances for an array of clients. About half of these FMS 3.5.1s fall over dead after 2-3 weeks of runtime. Specifically, 'fmsedge' becomes unresponsive to http/rtmp tests on port 80; NOT on port 1935. The process appears to be doing work (cpu time is nonzero), and it answers the phone - I can connect to port 80. But I can't pass traffic to the daemon.
Logs give no indication anything's wrong. I can't strace or truss java with any legibility, due to fmsedge living atop a multithreaded virtualmachine.This occurs regularly, but does not occur on /every machine/; only about half of them. Where it happens, it's at 2-3 weeks after process launch.how to collect additional diagnostics, so that I can find what's breaking in fmsedge and either prevent it.I am running on CentOS 5.3 (like RHEL-5), 64-bit; I install nothing but Adobe FMS, and used Adobe's installer.
Media Server :: Fmsmaster Using Admin Server Port
Dec 28, 2009It seems after a while the admin server stops responding on our fms server.When logging into the linux machine, I can see that the fms admin process is not running, and the pid in fmsadmin.pid is stale.When trying to restart the service with:"./fmsmgr adminserver restart" it fails to start the service with the following message in /var/log/messages:[code]How is it possible for fmsmaster to be using the admin server ports, and how would I prevent this in the future.

Jul 1, 2010I am new to the Flash Media Server and have a question on its use of ports. Now if a server has IIS and FMS and one wished only to stream flash (VOD). Could I edit the fms.ini file and remove port 80 from adaptor.hostport?
In my thinking I would stream over port 1935 and would lose the ability to progressive download over port 80.Now I do not ever want to use progressive downloading so no issue so far. In addition I can now run my IIS server on port 80 for my administartor console into FMS. All my clients are internal and thus I do not need a stream on port 80.
Is my thinking sound or am I misssing something?

Apr 7, 2011FMS and IIS are set up with separate IPs on the same server. Both are configured for port 80 because others, including 1935, are often inaccessible from certain environments. Problem is, the server's behind a router. Port 80 can only be forwarded to either the IP of FMS or that of IIS. Even if the two were on separate machines, I'd still have to deal with this.

I would like to configure in fms.ini using ports 1935 and 81 and Apache requests to port 8134. Can I use this configuration? Do I need to open ports 81 and ports 8134 in the network? What is recommended in this case?

Oct 28, 2010I just installed FSMS 4 and could not log into the administration piece (the login s would fail) even though I was using the ID and password specified in the fms.ini file.
During the installation I had specified a different port for the administration port. I changed the port back to 1111 and I could log in with no problem.
Why is the admin login failing if I don't use 1111 as the admin port number ?

Sep 27, 2010I'm using the RTMFP protocol to publish and play video and audio, but i'm with a little problem. I installed the FMS 4 Development Server in a Windows Server machine located in our local network and it works perfectly. In order to deploy our application, we have a remote server with a fresh install of the Ubuntu 10.04 Server, and the FMS 4 installed in this server. In other server we have the Java and Flex application, which will be used in the client browser.
The problem is that when trying to change the NetConnection url to the remote FMS server, which is the Ubuntu server, the netconnection can't connect to it. When changing to the RTMP protocol it connects, but with the RTMFP don't. I can't find any information in the log files or anything else.

Jan 28, 2010I try to switch or change a server-side stream, it starts lagging after 2 seconds of playing and sound disappears. Here are scenarios that result in that terrible lag:
1. I create server-side playlist with stream.play() with reset=false; when it is time to play the next movie in the playlist, it starts lagging after 2 seconds.
2. The same problems appears when I just switch streams. I installed FMF Feature Explorer and tried to launch SwitchStreams sample application: the same problem - server stream starts lagging after I switch streams with stream.play().
I tried on different servers (local and remote), with different players (debug player of FMS Admin Console, Standard Flash videoplayer component, OSMF player, Flex video player). I also tried all possible flv, f4v and mp4 file compression options for video files - still the same problem. I have also tried literally thousands of Application.xml settings: changing buffer, buffer ration etc. Is there any tip where I should search for a solution?

Jun 24, 2010I have a socket server running as ROOT on an ubuntu machine on port 843 that sends:[URL]..On my home computer running the TestMovie operation, everything works. BUT, when browsing to the SWF, unless I check and answer policy requests on port 8010 nothing works.
SO, how does the master policy work? I expect that every call from xmlSocket.connect("mydomain.com", 8010) will query port 843 for a master policy. But, it appears that they don't, instead always sending a request to port 8010.
Also, on another note, for testing reasons is there an easy way to send ASII to a port in the same way as one would type into a terminal?
