I want to create an application that has these features
- At client side: Display a list of images, when user click on one image, data will be stored in MySQL database.
- At server side: Manage images used in client side, I can delete, add new images.
Is this possible for me to achieve this using Flex? And if it is able, will my output be 2 separate SWF files? And where can I find the materials to read on writing such applications?
User interacts with Adobe flex webpage to configure reports based on some data stored server side. They configure their view and have THAT view emailed to them daily. I've got the report builder, the part I'm trying to figure out is how to render the report server side and send it out as email (native flex functionality? convert to html? take screenshot? assume something is running client side?...)

View 3 Repliesok, so I got the broadcast running as SE suggested, everything is running smooth local and live except for one thing.every 45 seconds or so, I the encoder displays an error while broadcasting. the broadcast however continues, so I went to the error log in application.00.log. and this is what was there:I'm assuming it has something to do with the length of the file, when I look in the folder that saves the broadcast, is dozens of files that have approx size 1 mb. As the broadcast goes, I see the file being created, and then when it reaches about 1 mb, a new one is born. it ?

I'm running FMS 4 Dev on my win XP SP3 machine, also running flash cs5 professional on same machine. I get the server admin screen to come up and it says it's running. I'm using a tut book on FMS and trying to run the first script in the book. It's long but I'll add the script at the bottom so you can see what i'm doing. In the server app folder I placed another folder called vid2 with nothing in it just like the book told me to do. I wrote the script line for line out of the book. When I test my movie it lays out my video window and buttons. It diplays my ugly mug on the screen. when I press the record button it does nothing. when i press the stop button the output window shows me an error of "#1009 can't access properties or methods of a null object". I assume that this is telling me I do not have a net connection.
when I types in the example it had an IP address in the code.How do I know the correct IP addy to my dev server? If I'm doing development and testing on the same machine do I even need to know this? 2) How will what I'm doing now differ from leasing space from an FMS provider?

Accepted a connection from IP:172.31.14.91, referrer: , pageurl: Sending error message: Method not found (getStreamLength). I don't have any problems with vod but on live streaming is so hard for me to get it.My encoder is a Media live encoder 3 and the media server is media server 3.5.

I have a movie clip which has two frames. On the first frame I have the front side and on the second I have the back. I am rotating the MovieClip by rotationX, rotationY, rotationZ properties.I want to display the frame 2 when the MovieClip rotates. Please help. I dont want to use PaperVision class. Also, please consider the Perspective View of the scene.Sometimes, the MovieClip might not only be dependent on rotation. It is also equally dependent on the position (only in Perspective View).

This is it basically. I create a Label for each data entry in an array list. This entry is added to a BorderContainer and this goes to the containing element as a whole here. I have a data grid where users can drag columns and reposition them. But there is a strange requirement that some columns should not be draged to the left of some other column. eg, assume the columns are: name, price , start date, end date, The end date should not be dragged and placed before the start date. i.e. The user can have start date, price , name , end date. name, start date, price , end date. But at no point can end date appear before start date. Is there a way to do this flex? Is there a way to know where the user is trying to drop the column and show error message ?

View 1 RepliesI have 12 display monitors installed in different floors in a building. These monitors display announcements that will be update once in a day. I'm retrieving these announcements from db and storing in an array and displaying it all day long. In addition to this, I have a requirement to display emergency alert messages on the monitors. My Server is a windows 2000 server. I'm using asp for creating the JSON object.
For the emergency alert I am thinking of doing this:
Create a page in asp that lets user to enter emergency msg and save to db.
Create a page in asp that will check if there an emergency msg in db and show it in a asp page in json.
Create a timer that pings this json page every 1 second. If it's available then show it.
Is there any other sophisticated method available to poll the server or to send messages from server to client?
I am new to web technologies. I along with my friends want to develop a web application. There is one guy in our team who knows Flex technology. I would like to use Java Springs framework at the back end. The web application caters to students a Music school. And for the same reason we chose Flex for UI since the application needs to be flashy and rich in graphics.
The application allows students to create profiles and interact with the teacher. Eventually we want to add Online Music classes feature with online payment gateway integrated. Kindly guide me which are the suitable technologies to use at the back end. Also let me know if SpringFlex with BlazeDS integration is a good combination with Adobe Flex.
The sorting capabilities that are available in Flex assume that you have access to all the data, but I'm using a paginated datagrid (with custom code), the datagrid is binded to an ArrayCollection instance, on the next page call I change the data of the dataprovider and everything works ok, but for sorting I need to override the click or event better override the sort method of the arraycollection
All this is to be able to do a server-side sorting.
Just to confirm what I think I understand from reading about use of google APIs in RIAs (FLEX 4 and ActionScript) there is no way to connect to blogger API for example, directly from RIA because of google's crossdomain.xml file, right?
So if I want to use their APIs to get some data like content of my mailbox or list of posts on my blog I have to have some code running server side and RIA would just use that code as httpservice to collect data from google?
Using RecursiveDirectoryIterator of PHP i am able to create directory tree and can even flatten it using RecursiveIteratorIterator class , but I want to create directory tree structure which TREE component of flex understands . The following is an array structure in php which flex understands.

One of my web applications have developed in java and using tomcat server. Now I want add one more feature in my application that is peer to peer audio streaming. Actually I want that anyone speak (using microphone) on the client side and I will hear his voice on my server speakers and vice versa. Also save our communication in any file and also send the audio stream to IP intercom.
For that I am trying to use Flex Builder. Flex NetStream class is good for the streaming and we can also attached microphone. But the problem is on the server side. How can I get the audio stream on server side?
