ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop FLV From Playing Upon Leaving Frame?

Maybe someone has some insite on this before I open an artery. I have a timeline, seperated into sections. The navigation targets frame labels. On one of those keyframes there is a flv. When you play that video and then navigate to another frame without stopping the video, it continues to play. I've tried giving it an instance name and adding a stop action to it that resides in the button functions so when it navigtaes to another frame it would stop. However, when I click on any button and the movie is not currently playing, I get a error message that reads TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I assume it is looking for something that is not currently there. It has been suggested that I use the SoundMixer.stopAll() but that removes any background music currently playing.
Do I need some kind of conditional statement that detects if the flv is currently playing?
Can FLV be controlled with a simple instancename.stop() ?

It is for a portfolio for school, in the case that you wanted to know. I have created a frame in the FLT thatis for videos. I have called a net connection to load a video locally when a custom button is CLICKed, and i have made a custom button to pause said video, and play again, using togglePause
My problem is, once the video is started (using play) and if the user navigates away from this video page, (which means they are a jerk/ass for not finishing my video) the audio will continue playing, as the video has been loaded and is not through executing. I want this net connection to end once navigating away from the page, if necessary. I have tried calling an EventListener(EXIT_FRAME) but errors upon outcome follow.

i want to stop a video from playing,when leaving a framei tried to use SoundMixer.stopAll(); but it only stops the sound, i think my video is still streaming in the background because im starting to notice performance problems when i go back and open the video againthe website gets very slow.

I have an embedded video object in a single frame. A script attaches an external FLV file which plays upon entering the frame. When I leave the frame to go to other parts of the movie, the music from the attached FLV continues. How can I stop the audio when I leave the frame?

I know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.
How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:

I have four movie clips (.f4v) in 4 frames in a movie with watch buttons.. This movie has them been imported into a main movie container that has next and previous buttons. However if i play a movie then hit next frame, the movie continues to play in the background. I have 5 frames in which a different song will be playing, this is the code i used on each frame:

If im on frame 1 and click on the navigation button to see frame 2, both songs on these frames play simultaniously. how can i stop the background song on frame 1, and have frame 2 playing?

audio of a movie playing when I exit the frame - it's probably something simple that is yet evading me ...
The FLV works just fine, auto plays when entering the frame and uses a preset skin. The frame it's playing on has AS code stop(); on it.

OK, I am trying to get the following functions to load and unload the video to my main timeline when I go in and out of a frame. I tried on Enter_FRAME but it is now working properly and load many instances.
What are the listeners I need to do to call the functions of oCoach when enetering a frame and fclickCV when leaving a frame?

I'm trying to create a small flash website for a Uni project (I'm a music student but they want me to be able to make websites, go figure?) and I am having trouble getting a video to stop playing when i goto another frame. Im using the FLV player from Window>Componants and i have named it PubPlayer. I have made a frame which contains four videos that play when the user clicks on the button relating to that video. However, when I click on another frame, the video's sound continues to play. But when I click back to the video page the FLV Componant Player has reset itself and is not playing anything, but I still hear the sound of the video that I played earlier. Any ideas as to either stop or pause the video that is playing when clicking away from that frame?

I can hash a flash template to make it work, changing URL's, pictures etc, so have not had a grounding in the coding side of things.
My problem is that I have a new website that I have published in CS5 from a template by flashmo. I have substituted one of the pages to play videos ( I originally wanted to have 1 video with 4 thumbnails that would play when clicked but that is above me). On that page I have imported 4 flash video files, one set to autoplay, the others using the skin to start when necessary.
The issue is that when I navigate away from the page "Examples", the sound keeps on playing and if I navigate back to "Examples" another instance of the video starts with both soundtracks playing.
I have researched and found other people with the same issue, but the solutions always seem to involve entering a stop(); function on the buttons that navigate away from the Examples page. This is where it all falls apart for me.
below is the code from the first frame of the timeline. Am I looking in the wrong place to stop the video playing. There are other lines of script later in the movie, but I am ssuming this is where it all runs from ?!

i am building a flash web site using the goto and stop method, with each "page" of the website being a different frame. on one page i have a music player, and it all works fine, and if you press stop before leaving that "page" or frame it all works well.the problem i've run into is if you go to another frame while the music player is still playing the music continues playing and when you go back to the frame the music player is on and press stop it doesnt do anything and if you press play it will start playing the song again with both songs playing over eachother.how to stop the music from playing when you exit that frame. here's the code for the music player:

I'm having the problem that my video, which sits in a movie clip, does not stop the audio after moving to the next frame, even though the video instance is removed. Here is the code from the main timeline:

From my flash "home" frames, I have 4 buttons that take the user to different places on the timeline. One frame on the timeline includes a carosel of pictures that rotate and looks nice. I downloaded the carosel actionscript and xml documents online, I did not build them myself. Now, when I hit the "home" button to get back to the home frame, the carosel still lingers around. I would like to know how to hide it, or make it not come back at all when coming back to my "home" frame.

I need to stop my cursor from moving on certain points on the stage. I'm using a magnifying glass effect but in the browser this only show the glass up to the stage so I need to stop it moving past those points. You can see what I mean if you move the magnify glass to the very left or right here:

I have created an instance of FLCPlayback named "chili_player" which, depending on which button is clicked will play a certain video. This all works great.
my videos are located within videos_mc and in frame 80 of my site. I have other movie_clips and frames set up for other pages.
I have tried the normal method of placing the following code on every other frame the user can view.
videos_mc.chili_player.stop();
but it does not work and I get the following error message.
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at index_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()

Is there an event listener to use to detect whenever I am leaving a particular frame on my timeline? If I am correct, Event.FRAME_EXIT only works on the newer versions of Flash. Is that correct? (I am working with CS3.)

I have l modded some code that I am really happy with, it makes buttons bounce around for the user to try to click on when entering a certain frame.. I notice tha the code adds eventlisteners ENTER_FRAME to make this work, when you leave that frame there are now problems with null objects becuase the listeners are still on but the objects are not there anymore..
Ok so attempted solution - I can use a currentLabel on the main timeline to check if the correct frame is reached then use a function if (label is x) put listeners on else take them off... works but then I have to have these objects hidden on the timeline and then add visible=true/false to my framelabel listener.. This works but part of my functionality here is that these movieclips that move are buttons that the user clicks on and they explode and dissapear- but now they dont because I have a code that says on that frame they should be visible..
The only thing I can think of is to have a blank frame at the end of the explode and put a stop on it. Then add a gotoAndPlay(1) into my frame label code. Seems very ugly, you guys got a better way? Can I remove eventlisteners on leaving a frame? Is there a code like LEAVE_FRAME??

Using CS 5.5, I am using a single scene with buttons that all appear on the first frame along with code snippet AS also on the first frame that when clicked, takes the user to a different frame. Everything seems to work fine, except, after you go to frame 15 and click on one of the buttons that take you to one of the earlier frames, the text from frame 15 still displays on those earlier frames. The text on frame 15 is on a different layer and does not exist anywhere else until frame 15.

I have a series of buttons that when clicked go to certain frames which all display different content. I have a unique movie clip on each one of these frames that has an initial play in, followed by a looping animation (the character walks in, then loops waving or something of that nature), I would like the movie clip to have a play out animation (character walks off) when the user leaves that frame so that when they go to the next frame the new movie clip can play in (new character walks on screen). i'm trying to get a movieclip within a movieclip to stop playing when it reaches its last frame. let me describe my problem: it should start playing when the user rolls over the movieclip that is containing it(i'll call this mc1, and the movieclip within it mc2). i've put a stop action in mc2's last frame but it won't stop and plays again and again. one thing i should point out is that there is a variable in mc1 that tells the movie whether it's ok to play the movie in reverse when the user rolls over mc1, if this is false, that means that it plays normally(not in reverse). i'm using "play()" to play mc1 when the user rolls over it and this is where i think the problem is; even though the last frame of mc2 has a stop action, it is somehow told to play again? anyways, this is just a guess, i haven't figured out why or how to fix it. i'm not sure if my explanation was too hard to understand so i'll try to clarify it if anyone wants me to.

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.
