ActionScript 2.0 :: Stopping A Playing MC At A Specific Frame Without Stop(); On Keyframe?
Mar 7, 2004
What I want to have happen is when you mouse down on the button/MC the block_mc will first jump to frame 40 and then it needs to check and stop when the block_mc reaches frame 12. I have attached a simplified version of what I was trying to do

im looking to be able to use a mouse click to trigger an animation of something spinning. but depending on which event listener is clicked i want the animation to stop at a specific frame for each thus allow further mouse clicks and feature access. does anyone know how i can do this in AS3?
I am trying to simply stop the movie from playing on a frame, the way we used to do with stop(). Every tutorial source I have looked at is a blur of words like stop and movie being used in too many ways. I'm not stopping an external flv. I'm not stopping an external or embedded swf. I just want to stop the movie that this frame is a part of until the user chooses to advance to the next frame.
I have a couple of sound clips that I'd like to be able to play. I want one clip to play per frame (the frames are timed to a certain length through a set interval action). When I advance to the next frame (either when the timer runs out or I click a button) I want the first frame's clip to stop and the second clip to begin. IE: I have clip A and clip B which correspond to Frame A and Frame B. I go to frame A and clip A plays, I go to Frame B and Clip B plays (Clip A having stopped).
I have four movie clips (.f4v) in 4 frames in a movie with watch buttons.. This movie has them been imported into a main movie container that has next and previous buttons. However if i play a movie then hit next frame, the movie continues to play in the background. The code below shows one of the actionscripts for a movie clip and then the main actionscript in the main movie.[code]...
Lets say i had an animation and i also had four buttons. The animation would have 4 frame labels at different areas of the timeline. For example:
"Label 1" "Label 2" "Label 3" "Label 4"
now if i'm on the "Label 1" frame and i hit button 3. I'd like to have the animation play until it reaches "Label 3". Also if I were at "Label 4" and hit button 1, I would want it to play backwards to "Label 1" OR maybe it could either play through to the end and loop back depending on which way is closer.
I don't know if this is really possible. I know each labeled frame would require a stop() action, but i'm not sure how to make something play until it reaches a specified destination frame.
I am using the following actionscript to load a external swf. I would like to actually start playing that movie at a specific location based on what is already loaded. I am using this tutorial here. what I want but basically lets say I have three swf's. A, B, C.
If I go from A to B I use this AS
Code:
B_bt.onRelease = function() { if (_root.currMovie == undefined) { _root.currMovie = "B"; container.loadMovie("B.swf"); } else if (_root.currMovie != "B") {
I have 5 frames in which a different song will be playing, this is the code i used on each frame:
var mySound:Sound = new Sound();mySound.load(new URLRequest("frameone.mp3"));mySound.play();
If im on frame 1 and click on the navigation button to see frame 2, both songs on these frames play simultaniously. how can i stop the background song on frame 1, and have frame 2 playing?
I am making a simple application, 4 pages of information with the navigation buttons in a bar along the bottom of all four pages. (easy right!) My problem is, i won't the information (pics,videos etc) to animate into each page when selected.
I can make them animate in by using the gotoAndPlay () method. BUT when i do this it just loops through all the remaining pages till the end.
gotoAndStop () doesn't play the animations, but the navigation works find.
I am doing a presentation in flash in movie languages I have 7 buttons when some body click button 1 it should go to a new movie called animate frame number 2 when some body click button 2 in movie language it should go to movie animate frame 6 if people click button 3 in language movie it should play movie animate frame 11 like that for all 7 buttons I have used the following code but its always going and stopping at frame number 1 in animate movie
Here is the code: button 2 on (release) { unloadMovie loadMovieNum ("animate.swf", 6); } button 3 on (release) { unloadMovie loadMovieNum ("animate.swf", 11); }
I have a movieclip that is comprised of multiple images.These images are used as the backdrops of various different pages of my portfolio.Every image is in a specific order, so if the user decides to go from page 1 to page 4, it will pan through the first three pages quickly before stopping on the 4th page. Simple Enough.The problem is I want them to be able to also do this while manipulating the timeline in reverse. So say if they're on page 4 and want to go back to page 2, it will 'rewind' the timeline and stop on page 2.know there are plenty of tutorials out on how to play a timeline in reverse, however none of which discuss stopping automatically when reaching a certain point that is before the beginning
i'm making a game and to score some extra performance im rendering every frame of every entity into an array of bitmapdata's the first time the frame is seen, and it works well, but its wasting alot of memory because we have alot of animations, and most of them are double framed at least, so more than half of the bitmaps could be ignored if there was a way to determine if a frame is a keyframe or not
I am very new to Flash and I am making a little 30 second clip just to fool around with Flash.Now at the end of my film I just want everything to stop (if possible, once a specific frame is hit move to another frame.)I've heard that you could use ActionScript to perform this but I really have no clue
i want to make a puzzle..a photo seperated in 10 pieces(10 scenes)withdifferent speed.each piece does a move from right to left and back again.when i push a button in the correct frame i want to go to the next scene to do to the same thing,if its the wrong frame i want to play another scene.and is it possible to all that staff with one button?
How would I do this using actionscript? I was kind of thinking like this: onClipEvent(enterframe){ if(thecurrentframe=2){ stop(); }} But I am not completely sure. hat variable would the current frame part be in??
i'm having trouble finding the answer to a simple (I hope) question. I made a flash banner and have successfully added an action that will loop it 3 times, stopping on the last frame. Here is the code I entered in a separate action layer:
INSERTED A KEYFRAME IN FRAME 1: if (numberOfTimesToLoop<3) { gotoAndPlay(1); numberOfTimesToLoop++;
Ive created a banner ad in AS 1.0-2.0. The ad can only loop 4 times then it must stop. The following code does this at frame 170. The timeline is 170 frames in length, and this code is keyframed on an actions layer on frame 170 - however, I'd like the final stopped flash swf file to occur at frame 155. I can't just put this code on frame 155 - it skips a whole section of animation (from frames 155 to 170) that I want to keep in the loops.
I have a banner with 4 MCs in it. Right now it starts automatically and loops endlessly. I would like the animation to play through 2 times, jump to frame 60 of the first MC and stop.
when a external swf file gets loaded into main swf file, i need to detect while playing external file reach to end so that i can unload that file and move to another frame on root of main file. I am not getting how to identify external swf play reach to end so that i can unload swf and jump to root specific frame of main swf.
the only "Home" button that works is on the "Theory" page, which is where the actionscript happens to be located(frame 76).. In other words, if I click on the "Theory" button, I'm able to return to my home page. However if I click on any other button, it plays straight through the remaining frames and loops back to the beginning.
I am new to ActionScript 3.0. I am trying to create a button that will jump ahead to a specific frame, let the animation run, and then stop before reaching a specific frame. I have the first part working:
Maybe someone has some insite on this before I open an artery. I have a timeline, seperated into sections. The navigation targets frame labels. On one of those keyframes there is a flv. When you play that video and then navigate to another frame without stopping the video, it continues to play. I've tried giving it an instance name and adding a stop action to it that resides in the button functions so when it navigtaes to another frame it would stop. However, when I click on any button and the movie is not currently playing, I get a error message that reads TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I assume it is looking for something that is not currently there. It has been suggested that I use the SoundMixer.stopAll() but that removes any background music currently playing.
Do I need some kind of conditional statement that detects if the flv is currently playing?
Can FLV be controlled with a simple instancename.stop() ?
If i would like the timer to stop on a specific frame and show the time result how do I do that?With some kind of if-else statement, or some kind of function.stop.
I'm using Flash CS4 with AS3. I'm building a website for a friend the problem I have. When a user clicks on a button I want it to play a movie clip then stop at a specfic frame. I want all the buttons to play the same movieclip but go to a different frame.
The current actionscript I am using is located on frame 1 is: home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, homebuttonClicked); function homebuttonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop(0) }about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, aboutbuttonClicked); function aboutbuttonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndStop("aboutme") [Code] .....
This allows me to navigate to the right frame but does not play for obvious reasons, if I use the gotoAndPlay function its carries on playing to the end of the movie.
I'm trying to create a small flash website for a Uni project (I'm a music student but they want me to be able to make websites, go figure?) and I am having trouble getting a video to stop playing when i goto another frame. Im using the FLV player from Window>Componants and i have named it PubPlayer. I've tried setting its source to Null, Using .stop() and even setting its volume to 0 but everytime i goto another frame it keeps playing.Im gettingTypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at AlbumsEps_fla::MainTimeline/GoAlbum()My code is as followsQuote:
stop(); PubPlayer.source = "Machines.f4v"; function GoHome(event:MouseEvent):void {
I have made a frame which contains four videos that play when the user clicks on the button relating to that video. However, when I click on another frame, the video's sound continues to play. But when I click back to the video page the FLV Componant Player has reset itself and is not playing anything, but I still hear the sound of the video that I played earlier. Any ideas as to either stop or pause the video that is playing when clicking away from that frame?
It is for a portfolio for school, in the case that you wanted to know. I have created a frame in the FLT thatis for videos. I have called a net connection to load a video locally when a custom button is CLICKed, and i have made a custom button to pause said video, and play again, using togglePause
My problem is, once the video is started (using play) and if the user navigates away from this video page, (which means they are a jerk/ass for not finishing my video) the audio will continue playing, as the video has been loaded and is not through executing. I want this net connection to end once navigating away from the page, if necessary. I have tried calling an EventListener(EXIT_FRAME) but errors upon outcome follow.
I can hash a flash template to make it work, changing URL's, pictures etc, so have not had a grounding in the coding side of things.
My problem is that I have a new website that I have published in CS5 from a template by flashmo. I have substituted one of the pages to play videos ( I originally wanted to have 1 video with 4 thumbnails that would play when clicked but that is above me). On that page I have imported 4 flash video files, one set to autoplay, the others using the skin to start when necessary.
The issue is that when I navigate away from the page "Examples", the sound keeps on playing and if I navigate back to "Examples" another instance of the video starts with both soundtracks playing.
I have researched and found other people with the same issue, but the solutions always seem to involve entering a stop(); function on the buttons that navigate away from the Examples page. This is where it all falls apart for me.
below is the code from the first frame of the timeline. Am I looking in the wrong place to stop the video playing. There are other lines of script later in the movie, but I am ssuming this is where it all runs from ?!
fm_button.visible = false; var menu_label:Array = new Array("Home", "Examples", "Packages", "Links", "About", "Contact"); var total:Number = menu_label.length;
