ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop Flash Debugger When Code Is Running An Infinite Loop?

Aug 13, 2010

How do you stop the flash debugger if the code is running an infinite loop, or very very slowly?

I put too many trace() statements in, and it is taking forever. I know I can ctrl+alt+delete and stop flash CS5, but is there an easier way?

ActionScript 3.0 :: For Loop Running Infinite Times When Triggered

Mar 30, 2011

I've got this for loop, but for some weird reason it malfunctions:
- When triggered, it runs infinite times.
- It only triggers when segmenten1 or segmenten3 are 0, which is weird, because it should also work when segmenten0 and 2 and 4 are 0...

Here is the for loop:
stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,addmetaal);
function addmetaal (evt:Event) {
for(var animteller=0;animteller<5;animteller++){
if (this["segmenten"+animteller]==0) {
[Code] .....

It seems to me like that when any of the segmented variables hits 0, it should trigger 2nd for loop, and repeat that 4 times. The xco and yco are arrays which store values for the x and y coordinates for spwaning the addchilds, this works fine.
the segmented variables are declared as following:
var segmenten1:Number=17, segmenten2:Number=17, segmenten3:Number=17, segmenten4:Number=17, segmenten0:Number=17;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Start An Infinite Sound Loop And Stop It After?

Jul 16, 2009

I'm trying to get right. Essentially I want the beeping sound to loop infinitely while there are no pauses in the writing of the text, but I want it to stop once the last loop that was going when a pause in the writing started has finished, and then start up again when the pause ends.Now I could just easily set the loop to stop once a pause starts, but then there is the chance of stopping the loop mid-sample and making the pause sound abrupt, and I don't want that to happen.Now please watch the current swf:And please read my script for better understanding

Professional :: Flash Debugger Doesn't Stop On Breakpoints?

Jun 11, 2009

I don't know why but i've got fla files that I can't debug.

I'm able to launch debugger and the swf file is correctly run when I do it, but if for instance I add a trace in my code and add a breakpoint on it, it will appear in the output but the debugger doesn't stop on the breakpoint.

It's a pretty big project that uses a quite numbers of external swc libraries, home produced for the most, and I can't figure where could this bug come from. All the more if I create a simple fla file with a simple document class attached to it the debugger works perfectly.

So if anyone already encountered the problem or got an idea over any reason that could make the debugger to not stop on breakpoint,

}

Flash :: SWFaddress Stuck In Infinite Loop?

Jan 12, 2012

I have an issue with SWFAddress in Flash: when the user navigates to a page within my flash app, I call "setValue". This changes the URL in the browser's address bar, which in turn calls the "externalChange" event in flash. This event causes the flash app to load the page displayed in the url bar... so the app keeps changing the flash page and updating the url bar into infinity.

How do I know if the url bar was changed by flash or manually by the user?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Hiding Code From The Debugger?

Jun 22, 2009

I'm writing a scroll menu class, and one of the ways to scroll is scrolling with the up and down arrows. I want to simulate a scroll menu receiving focus by adding an event listener when the user clicks inside a rectangle defining the scroll window, but this function is going to trigger (to test if the event is inside the rectangle) any time the user clicks on the stage. This could prove annoying when, in 6 months time, I use this scroll window in some other project and the debugger ends up in this file after I click "step over". Is there a way to define my class as though it was a native, adobe-written class, so that the debugger doesn't do this?

Actionscript 3 :: Flash MovieClip Code Not Running?

May 25, 2011

I've made a MovieClip of an electric wire with 3 different keyframes with a few frames between each. The first 2 keyframes have a single bitmap in each with a different picture, I want it to cycle between these two to make it look like the electricity is moving and not just sitting there. The 3rd keyframe has nothing, eventually I will put an image with the electricity off, so the player can walk through, I just haven't done it yet. Since I don't want it to run the last keyframe until the player turns it off, I put a gotoAndPlay(); command in the movie clip after the second frame looping it back to the first frame, problem is, the line refuses to work.

I have copied and pasted it from other programs where it worked, I have checked the Frame Name, I put other lines in there, like stop(); trace(); and other things, but could not get ANY line of code to work in the MovieClip. There's probably something like "the layer is invisible, code will not run", but I can't tell what it is. I've deleted the symbol and started over, same problem. I've restarted Flash, same problem. I've restarted the computer, same problem. I even took it to a different computer, same problem. I don't know why it won't run this code, is there something disabling it that I overlooked? I have other code in the main timeline outside the movie clip and code in other movieclips that has always worked fine and continues to work fine, I don't see what the problem is.

I ignored the problem for a while, and worked on other things, but I had to add multiple frames to an existing movieclip (which I believe was created before the other one), and now this movieclip is having the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this, before it spreads to the rest?

I'm trying to debug my as3 game, but no way, the debugger starts (with the different debug panels) but doesn't stop at any of the breakpoints so i created an empty as3 file (.fla) and put some simple code:

[Code]...

I put a breakpoint at line 2when i press Ctrl-Shift-Enter Or Debug>Debug Movie, it traces "Hello" 2 times without stopping when i right click on the new flash player window that opens, it shows DEBUG on the menu (not grayed), and i think that it means it's the flash player debug version that is running I'm running on Vista and I tried reinstalling Flash without success, but i've got another PC with windows XP and it works well on it,
Are there any restrictions on Vista or maybe services that should be started, or anything that should be activated / deactivated?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Variation On Infinite Loop Menu?

Dec 8, 2009

this menu is somewhat similar to the infinite scrolling menu that is often used except this one doesn't scroll based on mouse position but rather on which button is clicked in the nav.

i have an mc called 'menu01' in which there is an mc called 'menuslide' containing the series of buttons in the nav. when each button is pressed, i want menuslide to slide to the correct position (with that button flush left) and the button to slide down to highlight what page one is on. when another button is pushed, menuslide should slide to that position while simultaneously sliding up the highlighted button and sliding down the new button.

i 'sort of' have this working, but not quite.. i think the problem lies in how i have to shift the position of menuslide back to _x:0 when it gets to the end so that it looks like an infinitely looping menu. there also seems to be some conflict with the arch01 button as it doesn't slide down to highlight when it moves into position.

i have attached the fla if anyone has the time or inclination to take a look.
