I have a set of menu buttons made in flash ac3 (menu.swf). the menu buttons goes with menu.htm for example.I have another swf for example about us (about.swf). this swf goes with about.htm.
the index.html loads the menu.swf and the main.swf.
I hope some expert can point me in the right direction:
Is it possible to make the ac3 code, able to, tell the menu.swf buttons when clicked (on the about button), to go to the about.htm but load the exact frame/label of the about.swf.
in other words what i trying is, to make it more seo friendly. to have menu.swf to go to the exact content of another swf.
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
I am looking at creating a menu with three movieclip buttons on a main menu. I want to keep these buttons on the top of the screen at all times. I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.
I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?
I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]
I'm creating a drop down menu and when I addEventListeners to check the clicks on the invisible buttons on frame 19 of the "menu" movieclip, it gives me an error. T really hate doing rollover with actionscripts. The download link for the fla can be found in below. Sorry for posting an external download link as the file is 7mb+! [URL]
I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears. So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.
I have an FLA that I want to use for a menu I'm making. Currently, the menu is designed for 4 buttons and it has an indicator that slides along under the buttons to show which button the user is on. My menu needs to have 6 buttons. It should be very simple to add 2 more buttons to this piece, but every time add new buttons, the indicator slides way off to the left when I roll over the new buttons I've added, instead of sliding under them like it does with the original buttons. I've attached the original FLA. How to add new buttons without having this problem?
I have followed a video guide on how to make a drop down menu in Flash CS4 ( AS3) with a few modifications. Instead of dropping down, it appears to the left of the "button" and it's a fade in fade out effect. And instead of text in the buttons, I've put in .png's. One png for normal button, another png for mouseover. The problem is that when I put the mouse on the original button ( the one meant to activate the menu) it activates the menu, but when I try to put the mouse on the menu, the menu dissapears.I've tried putting the layers in different orders but it didn't work.[code]
I have knowledge of HTML but this is my first flash project, and I think I'm way over my head. I followed a tutorial explaining how to make menu buttons and I realized that the actionscript for a drop down menu should work for what I'm trying to do. So I finally have everything the way I want it but I'm pretty sure I have a bit of wasted code in there. Now, my issue is when I play my flash and move my mouse really fast over the flash object sometimes two menu buttons appear. I'm sure it is because of the ._alpha > 0 code I'm using but I dont know another way around it. If you have any advice PLEASE share!! Here is a link to the swf file...http:[url]....
This is the code (for two buttons) I use to make something disappear when I RollOver another button:
I am attempting to revamp a website. The buttons that are currently being used are only gifs that are hyperlinked and there are almost 12 buttons... I think that this is a ridiculous amount of buttons to have. It looks very cluttered. So, I figured I should make 6 buttons and just fit the rest of the buttons into subcategorized buttons. And the way to do this is to create flash buttons with drop down menus. To see what I mean, go to this link and look at their buttons:
[URL]
Their buttons drop down into menus with sub-categories. I want to do this.
So far, I have gone into flash, created buttons and made graphics for the "Up" "Over" "Down" and "Hit". I have also added the menu buttons and graphics for the "Over" of each drop-down button-menu.
I have even provided the action script to link each button to where I need it to go.
HOWEVER, here is where the problem is. When I roll the mouse over the button, and then move the mouse down to click on one of the buttons in the drop down menu, the menu disappears, OF COURSE, because the mouse goes off the hit. I can't make the hit bigger, because the menu shouldn't open unless it's on the main button. But without the hit being bigger, the menu will always disappear.
IN ADDITION, I've never used flash buttons on a website before. I'm just using HTML. How do I link the button to the page? Do I save the file as a .swf flash file? And link to 6 different files? Or do I save the buttons in a line, and just use one link?
I can't seem to find a clear explanation specifically relating to forwards/backwards tween with buttons.
I have a menu bar that I want to slide down, on Rollover and slide up, on Rollout... and have buttons on it/or appear on it.
So if someone wanted to navigate around the movie they would move their mouse to the top right, a bar would slide down and then they could access the buttons on it. However if the mouse is rolled off at any time the bar slides back up.
I've managed to get the bar sliding up and down but my problem is with the buttons. When the mouse rolls over the buttons that have loaded in front of the menu bar, the bar flickers... I guess because the menu bar can't see that the mouse is still rolledover, when the mouse is over the button in front of it.
I was thinking that the code could tell the MC containing the menu bar to pause when the buttons are rolled over - but I may be barking up the wrong tree.
I've attached my fla/swf to show the simple example of where I'm up to.. it may have been overcomplicated by my attempts to load the buttons on frames of the tween.
I have a menu which consists of several buttons held with a movieclip (menu_mc) on the stage. You can select a menu option with a mouse click. However, I need to be able to use the keyboard too.
So I've set an keyboard eventlistener and that works, but only if the mouse has clicked on the main stage area first.
If I click on the menu_mc movie clip (for example selecting a menu option with the mouse) then the keyboard eventlistener doesn't work (presumably it's taken the focus off the stage?)
I think this is to do with the focus - so how do I keep the focus on the stage.
I am having an amazingly frustrating problem here, I created a drop down menu with different buttons and I want these buttons to send me to a different scene in the flash document, again, Working with AS2.When I click the button in the movie clip, all it does is it closes the menu and doesn't direct me to the frame I need, but If I copy the button, and paste it outside the movieClip, it works just fine.[code]
I've created a menu, using 4 buttons inside of a movie clip. When one of the buttons is clicked the other 3 come sliding out and stay out. How can I reclick the same button to get the 3 buttons to slide back?
I have a "tag cloud" style menu and want to blur out the other items/buttons when one button is hovered on. I need to attach to each button so that this can work somewhat easily?
I am making a dress up-like game but I am having problems with my buttons. I want to have 8 text buttons (hat, shirt, pants, etc) on the menu and when you click on the text button, the image of hat will appear on the figure, so I'm not asking drag and drop kind of effect. But I still want to be able to click on the hat and make it disapper, what's the actionscript I'll need to do this??
I'm trying to create a menu, where some buttons becomes visible when the user "rollOver" a box the buttons is beneath. Look at http:[url]... menu system, at the main page.I place my buttons within a MC, and gives the MC this AS:
But when I move the mouse over the buttons, they aren't enabled, probably because flash got the idea that the MC is above the buttons, and that the MC is a button.
A good button should have all the available out, over and down states, and often there are a bunch of nice to haves such as animation, disabled states, filters, you name it. I seem to change my mind in each project I do. The last one, I reskinned and extended the Button Component. The project before I extended SimpleButton Before that I built my own custom class using a Sprite and TweenLite. Then of course you need to work out if you will use library items which is great for laying out on stage, or do everything from scratch using code, which is more powerful but crap for design. I haven't looked at the swc or component route myself.
I made a drop down menu following the tutorial here. My problem is that the drop down buttons don't link to the respective scenes. Their rollover states work.
When I work on the drop down menu movie clip directly from the library, the button links work.[code]...
I am attempting to make a flash website, and have 5 buttons on my menu. I made 5 pages in a movieclip called "content". I want to know how I can link those buttons to go to those pages (actionscript and where to put it).
I have seen flash website templates, and see only ONE button, but when I looked at it in an .swf, it shows all buttons with their specific text label.
I'm currently working on an AS3 scripted drop down menu and for the most part it works exactly like I had envisioned with one small hiccup. The issue I have is if you accidentally navigate away from a button that creates one of my drop downs before the script has finished running the other drop down buttons will drop down but not be active until you go back to the original button and finish the script. What I believe will fix the problem is to disable the other main menu buttons until the script has finished. I could just disable at the beginning of the script and enable at the end but there are 5 flyouts and 9 buttons on the main menu. This would add up to a ton of extra code. So how could I create a block of code that disables the buttons and another block that will enable them at the end of the script but be able to call them in each script? And here is my site that I'm currently working on. [URL]
1. Remove the menu buttons I don't need... How can I do this?
2. If you view it in your browser, you'll notice after trying to scroll through some of the content that the scrollbars in the flash are a little messed up.. it's not easy to notice but bothers me..
3. How can I take the Website By Joey Khan (at the bottom) and make it either highlight or glow or popout or something so that it's obvious that you can interact with it when you rollover it?
4. On the contact page, the red confirmation/error text that appears under the form when you make an error or send the message, it does not com through correctly, I'm not sure what's wrong their.
I'm having a bit of trouble getting a button in a hoover over drop down menu to link to another scene in the .swf movie. I just doing a basic drop down menu (example here: [URL] with a couple of buttons with in a movie clip, the movie clip being the "button" someone hoovers over. The buttons however are not going to the corrisponding scene I have them set up to. What's strange is that if I set in the buttons action panel to go to an url instead of a scene, in the .swf movie the button works when I click it...it wants to go the specificed url. Nothing happens when it's set to go to a scene.
I am building a basic database website for my local community and everything is going fine until i try to add more script to control buttons on pages from the menu. The menu has 7 buttons which work, then on each of those pages is 6 more buttons. The first page works fine but when i add the code to the next page to control its buttons i get access of undefined prop. error and keeps playing through whole timeline. This is the code im using to control the buttons on pages from the menu.
I'm using a map as the navigation "menu" between descriptions of items located on the map. Each item has a button, which is enlarged on hover. When the button is clicked, the description of the item shows up and a picture of it substitutes the map (and all buttons disappear). Here's the issue: some buttons, when enlarged, overlap with other buttons. I am currently using addChild() to ensure the button currently pointed at is on top of any others. The problem is that, when I click the buttons, any buttons I pointed at do not disappear, but stay on top of the picture. Is there a better way to make the buttons go to the top, one that doesn't keep them on when the frame changes? Or at least, is there a way to make them disappear when the frame changes?
I am trying to save time by opening the source file and changing it to support my pictures/etc. instead of starting from scratch. So my question is: How do I create more than 4 buttons? I have attached a picture scrn shot if what I see when i press F9// "actions" panel.. I think the problem is when I create a new button, in this case, button 5, it does not carry over to be a subdirectory under the Scene 1 > Actions things on the bottom left... I've tried converting a rectangle on the buttons layer to a button symbol, and adding the appropriate code to it, but to no avail.. When I Ctrl+Enter to preview it, the slider moves 4 spaces but when I hover over the newly created 5th button the slider just moves back to
Ok so i was following this tutorial today at: [URL]..and its a good tutorial... with one exception. They never tell you where you can put the code for clicking on the buttons to make them functional.so now i have some good looking buttons that dont go anywhere. Any one want to take a look at this and see if you can tell me where i can put in my "click" event code.
So below is my code for a project I'm working on. I'm having some trouble though. I got the code for the scrolling menus online from another forum, but I can't figure out where that was. In any case, the current version of the code allows for the scrolling to happen when I open the page displays (enter Frame). But I can't figure out how to get the scrolling to happen only when I hover over the menu. I only want each one to scroll when I hover over the menu, not when I get on the page. I tried to replace the "enterFrame" part of the code, but it didn't work right. I need this done ASAP.
I have a project I've been working on that, when properly coded, has a "main menu" with 4 "doors" (buttons). When the corresponding buttons to these "doors" are clicked, it should go to and play an external .swf file.If that doesn't make sense, think of a DVD menu. You click play movie, it plays the movie. When the movie is over, there's two buttons on that swf file to either play the movie over or go back the main menu, which is an external .swf file (Remember, we go to the movie from the menu, which is a seperate file). So far, the buttons work. The menu works. However, from the movie, at the conclusion, when I click the button to go back to the main menu, it displays the movie clip and the buttons, but none of the buttons work. I'm starting to think it has to do with the fact the main menu was written in AS3 and the movie was made in AS2. If anyone can assist me in being to able to keep both files and still navigate between the two, being able to bring up the menu from the movie and be able to play the movie again, and so on and so on. Here's the code for main menu, which I guess acts as the parent file, and the movie. If I get this to work, I essentially would duplicate the same actions for the other 4 doors, once I complete the environments for them.
Main.Fla/Swf (written in AS3)
(This is the action on the first frame, that has all the buttons. For this question, I'm just trying to properly code for 'Door4', which is the "door" to the movie.)
import flash.display.Loader; stop(); var myLoader1:Loader=new Loader ();[code].....
