Oct 29, 2003I have two dynamic textfield and they are both within two movieclips because I have action to rotate , enlarge and move the related movieclip so that the text changed accordingly.
But there is problem like after I record the position after modification to database and retrieve them back to the flashpage. The position of the movieclips are changed or maybe it is the textfield's position within the movieclips are changed which I have no exact idea what happened.
So could any one who can give some suggesion how should I arrange the textfield within the movieclip and how to keep track of the right position after enlargement or rotations,etc then?
Isn't it I have to consider the relative position of the textfield to the movieclip at the beginning.

Aug 12, 2009I've created an animated scene in Flash, with a bar chart.The bar is a MovieClip symbol containing a large rectangle and a TextField.I'd like to access the TextField using actionscript, but I can't seem to reference it.
Each bar in the scene has its own instance name, so that's easy to find.
But how do I modify the text in the textfield within the symbols?

Dec 29, 2004I am trying to use a font symbol from an external shared library. When I place the script below in my frame, trying to format a textfield on the stage, the textfield disappears. Only when I place another element (from the same shared library) in the stage, the textfield responds to the script. Although, when I tried to create a static text using the same font symbol, the dynamic textfield dissapeared, while the static text got the font symbol without any trouble.

May 6, 2010I created a button (button symbol), inside this button symbol there is a vector shape which will change colours in mouse over and a dynamic text field. i want to use this button symbol in more than one locations in my stage. so i need to change the label of these instances (by changing dynamic text ). but i can't access the dynamic text in as3 using following code,

this code is working fine for a movie clip symbol but not for a button symbol.

Dec 30, 2009I'm trying to get the depths of all the blocks to be at the correct levels at the correct times so that the 3d effect is maintained. I've tried many things, but have had little success. All the instances of the blocks are stored in an array, but since it's adding them in accordance with when they're added to the stage, it doesn't help me locate them to swap depths. Is there a way to arrange them by location on the board?

May 27, 2010it was possible to control the number of tick marks the Flex DateTimeAxis displays along its axis? Currently, the datetimeaxis controls how many tick marks to display on its axis whenever I change the date range on my chart. Ideally, I would just like there to be only and always 7 tick marks no matter how many datapoints are on the chart. I went into the DateTimeAxis class and noticed that there is a public function called transformCache(), which actually handles rendering the tick marks on the axis but I am not sure what class calls this method.

I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?

Sep 25, 2009So i've done SOME work with flash and AS3, right now i'm working on a website for my boss, he bought some template online which has stuff laid out and animated and everything already, now I just have to integrate our content.My issue is this, I've got 2 symbols on the screen, one of which contains alot of buttons that list our services as company, the second symbol contains the content (or descriptions) of those services, which on are separate keyframes.What I'm trying to accomplish is that when you hit the button in "symbol A", it affects the "symbol B" and goes to the corresponding keyframe.For example when I click "button 2" in "symbol A", "symbol B" goes to keyframe 2.Now if they were in the same symbol it would be something like
