ActionScript 3.0 :: Calling Constructor Function With Indefinite Number Of Parameters?

How do I call class constructor functions with indefinite number of arguments?
For example:(this piece of code doesnt serve any purpose, just to demonstrate an example)I wish to create a new class Foo with the parameters bar1, bar2, bar3, bar4.

I know I can create instances from a string like this:
var classFromClassPath:Class = getDefinitionByName(classPath) as Class;
var instance:Object = new classFromClassPath()
I know I can call some function with a parameter array like this
var x:Function = someFunction;
x.apply(null,args);
But does anyone know if I can pass parameters like that when I construct a class?

So I usually use an object in the constructor to receive the parameters like new Class({param1:00,param2:0099,etc).To be able to access those parameters from other functions inside the class I create an object, and copy it:
Code:
public class MyClass {
var params = {};
public function MyClass(p){

is it possible to get the name of a calling function or the constructor from the called function? is it possible to determine the previous function of the thread?
i would like to call some setter functions from my constructor and have my setter functions determine if it was the constructor that called them.
currently, i'm setting a boolean for this functionality, but perhaps there is another way?

this.myNumber = myNumber;

I've got a simple program that consist of a document class and a buttonTemplate constructor class. I need to call a function called updateText that should be in the document class, when someone clicks on a button. So that after each button is clicked, it updates some text in my document class. My event listeners for the buttons are in the buttonTemplate class. My question is, how do you call a function in the document class from a constructor class? Here is my simplified code below
DOCUMENT CLASS
Code:
package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.text.TextField;

I've got an XML file that is loading in data and is calling functions.
how to call the methods from classes with variables set from the XML file:
var functionToCall:String = xml.functions.func[0].to_fire.toString();
myClass[functionToCall]();
This calls the function perfectly.
I was wondering if there is anyway to pass parameters into the function as well through variables. Some functions may have no parameters, some functions could have 5... so the xml could be like this:

I have a function gameTimerInterval() set to run every half second. Every x of those intervals (the value of x varies in this situation), it creates another interval that calls the function birdTimerInterval() every y of these new intervals. Basically, gameTimerInterval() determines when a new flock of birds will enter, and then birdTimerInterval() controls how each individual bird in the flock comes in (one at a time). The thing is, there can be multiple flocks coming on the stage at the same time, so birdTimerInterval() will need to receive a parameter so it knows which group of birds to control. The only way I could see achieving this is doing something like dynamically passing the name of the interval that's calling the function, as I don't know how I could use global variables or arrays to distinguish which flock should be moving.

I am creating some sort of interactive background and at is current state of development the master constructor function have like 15 parameters that need to be put in. I can add at least 6-8 more and make it really flexible, but I start to wander if this will be such a good idea. I am not sure that the general people that I am developing this class would like to type so many parameters before using it to full potential. So there is only 2 must enter parameters and like 13 that you may want to change or leave the original values. My question is if there is some common practice about this? Is it to many or no? Just for idea this is the function at this point (working ok):
Code:
new Maker(textTest,15,150,200,2,8,3,5,0.3,1.5,4,360,0.003,30);

I have a project that uses a lot of remoting calls and I'm hoping to abstract the process. I've hit a problem with passing parameters to the final call...[code]...
I know how to loop through the ...rest param to obtain their values but I'm struggling at how to construct the final gateway.call() which could have 1 arg or 10.

I have the Class and the parameters of its contructor as an object. What I need to do is a function that returns an instance of this class, passing this parameters to the constructor.
This is the code:
Some random and unmodifiable class:
public Foo {
public function Foo(a:int, b:String) {
// constructor
}
}
And some function (in some another class):
function bar(params:Object):* {
var baz:Foo = new Foo(params.a, params.b);
return baz;
}
What I need to do is make this function generic, without pass params as parameter to Foo constructor because I can't modify it. Something like:
function bar2(clazz:Class, params:Object):* {
var baz:* = new clazz(/*some magic way to transform params in comma separated parameters*/);
return baz;
}

I am working on a side-scrolling platformer game. Because of this, I have a class that acts as a floor. I also have a class representing enemies. I am having problems with passing a parameter to a custom class' constructor. The class (SkullDemon.as) extends MovieClip. I am trying to pass an instance (called "floorL1") of a customer class called "FloorLevel1." "FloorLevel1" also extends MovieClip (I do not have a written .as file for "FloorLevel1"; I just exported the floor MovieClip to that class).
I am trying to pass an instance of "FloorLevel1" so that the "SkullDemon" object can land on the floor just like in a platformer. My main class is called "TME2_Main." This is the class from which I try to pass the "floorL1" instance to the "SkullDemon" class. This is how I try to create a Skull Demon instance and pass "floorL1" to its constructor:
[Code]...
What am I doing wrong here? I have spent a while looking for solutions (including moving code outside of TME2_Main's constructor),

I want to serialize ThugtrisShapes' children (heritage/polymorphism) but his children like Right_LShape take constructor parameters,i have to assign it a default value (in my case null because they receive an Array type), but i get this error even when implementing IExternalizable.
Take Note: IForm extends IExternalizable.
here is a link i found about it but it still does not work...[URL]
Code:
public class ThugtrisShapes extends Sprite implements IForm
{
var squares_:Array;
var numsquares_:int=MAX_SQUARES;
[Code]....
I know that not all class' can be cloned , but cloning is an important aspect of OO programming.... There should be a solution for my problem,besides taking the parameter out of the constructor and add a setter.

Let us assume I have classes "Main", "Sub1" and "Sub2". I also have interface "Inter".[code] Basically, I want the constructor function of any class implementing "Inter" to take the same parameters, and thus avoid initialization errors. (So as that the code above gives a compiler error) With any other function,[code]But As the constructor name differs from function to function, I cannot do this.

what i am trying to do is by pressing zero_btn which is an object in the library to print a number in the dynamic text box ( result_txt ) which is also an existing object in the library and on stage. my knowledge in actionscript is not much and messing with .as files is totally new to me! then thing is that this code when i locate into to .fla file works fine. there is no error with the code i posted, but am sure something is missing ... like calling the constructor of the .as file.In the library the name of it is Zero_btn and the instance name of this object is zero_btn and it is a button.[code]

I am new to AS3 but not to AS2. I have written a simple class and when I import it, I don't see the object that should be created upon calling the constructor. Can you guys tell me where am I going wrong. And I am very puzzled about 'document class'. Yes, I have google numerous threads on "document class" but still very shaky on this matter. Here is my simple class which should place a button object on the stage when I create a new object of this class. Once I have created the BTN class, I have made sure that I have button component in my library, I then instantiate the object by creating a new CS3 file and importing my class:
import com.learning.as3.*;
var b:BTN = new BTN();
When I test the movie, I get the following errors:
1172: Definition com.learning.as3 could not be found.
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant:
BTN.
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method BTN.

If a constructor takes its parameters as a vararg (...) it seems to be impossible to create a subclass that will just pass on that vararg to the superclass.
There is a related question with fix for this same situation for normal functions: Wrapping a Vararg Method in ActionScipt but I cannot get that to work with a super call.
base class:
public class Bla
{
public function Bla(...rest)
{
[Code]....
Aside from actually moving the handling of the parameters to the subclass or shifting it off to a separate initializer method

How to create new class instance without calling constructor function, meanwhile constructor function must exist and is requiring 1 parameter.
var newclass:myclass = new myclass; <- still calls function myclass in myclass class
I would like to call constructor function later:
newclass.newclass(myparam);

There is a library component represented by Class A. But constructor of this class requires some parameters. When the component needs to be added dynamically, it's fine because of code :
var abc:A = new A(param1,param2)
But what if my movieclip is already present on the stage. I notice it gives out error, that the parameters are null.
Is their any way to insert constructor parameters for movieclips already on stage.

Is it possible to create an instance of a class without triggering the class' constructor?[code]In the case above, say I wanted to play around with a Foo instance, but I really don't want my global.foobarCount going up, nor do i want to pass in any value at all for bar.This could be useful for introspection where you want to learn more about or pass a particular class object but don't want to provide required arguments or trigger anything that the constructor may do.Is this at all possible? (Obviously, new Foo() just doesn't cut it here, since it would throw and arguments error, nor does just using Foo, since that's a reference to the class itself).

I created code based on a site I found that puts the XML into CSV's, here is the code:
var myXML:XML = new XML(); // instance of XML Obj.
myXML.ignoreWhite = true;
myXML.load(config.xml)
[Code].....
So after all of that, my question is, if that one tag XML file that I gave an example for has 100 or so lines, is there a way to call it without having to know the line it is on so you don't need to put the array value in all of the time?
