Dec 22, 2011how can i delete storage directory instances or folder while uninstalling any air application. In my application when i first time run my application, application copy some data from application directory to application storage directory. now i want to delete all data and application directory folder also while uninstalling application.
I am doing that because when i launch any update then application is accessing old data which conflict with my application new features.
Flash :: Adding New Files To Application Storage Directory With AIR Application Installer
Feb 4, 2011I have an AIR app that gets bundled with XML files that the app needs. These get put into the APP Storage Directory, of course. Works great. But when I install a new version ( which includes new XML files) , the new files don't get added or overwrite the ones from the previous version. It seems that if that directory is there from a previous install, the installer will ignore the part where it moves included files.

Jun 27, 2011i am hoping that someone can put me right on this question (apologies if this the wrong forum too)...i have an .ipa file that uses xml for it's content. i can load the xml/images etc... fine from both a url and also locally on the handset.but what i wanting/trying to do is for the .ipa to check to see if there is an updated xml doc/images from the url - if there is then it downloads/saves the xml doc and any associated images to a local folder/location - if there isn't (or the handset can not access the internet) it simply loads up the xml and images locally.i have seen a few methods of doing this - but am not sure how it all ties together with flash?

Mar 28, 2009Presently I'm building an interactive CD-ROM based presentation for stand alone individual machines. I'm using AutoPlay Media Studio 7 to package a flash movie along with a licensed adobe reader and adobe flash player. One of the buttons on the autoplay package will install and create folders and files on a local machine.
I've uploaded a file for you flash gurus out there to look at, it may help to examplify what I'm trying to achieve. What I'd like to do, is to be able to use a file (perhaps XML?) that the flash movie can reference and make changes to. If this is possible then such file would be included in the AutoPlay package (see background info above) and installed on the local machine.Security is an extremely low key issue here and the username password is simply a means for flash to lookup and recognise an existing user (if there is one) and set the states of some variables.
Why? - The project is like an interactive training manual with questions and animated examples split into 8 modules. I would like to be able to provide users a means with the of not having to review previous modules by logging in at the login frame.

Flex :: Controls In Spark Panel Still Show When Outside Of Panel Size?
Mar 24, 2011I discovered this while doing some programmatic panel resizing:Components in a spark Panel will still be visible when their location is outside the physical Panel boundaries. This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. Note this doesn't happen with the mx Panel. What am I missing to make the spark behave like the mxSample Code:

Flex :: Know If The User Allows Storage Of Local Shared Objects (LSO)
Nov 25, 2010There is a small feature I have implemented that makes uses of the Local Shared Objects to work properly.
I wish to be able to help the user self-diagnose if he is unable to use the said feature because he refused access for this computer to writing local shared objects and give him instructions to work around the issue if it applies to him.
I'm looking for something similar to the muted property of the Microphone class [URL] or the Camera class.

Jan 14, 2011I'm looking for javascript libraries and code that can simulate localStorage on browsers that do not have native support.Basically, I'd like to code my site using localStorage to store data and know that it will still work on browsers that don't natively support it. This would mean a library would detect if window.localStorage exists and use it if it does. If it doesn't exist, then it would create some sort of fallback method of local storage, by creating its own implementation in the window.localStorage namespace.I understand that Flash and Silverlight can be used for local storage as well, but haven't found anything on using them as a fallback for standard HTML5 localStorage. Perhaps Google Gears has this capability too?Please share any related libraries, resources, or code snippets that you've found! I'd be especially interested in pure javascript or jquery-based solutions, but am guessing that is unlikely.

Mar 18, 2009I have an actionscript app which needs to use SharedObjects. I see how if the user doesn't allow the Flash Player to access local storage, the security settings panel automatically pops up and asks for user input.
My problem is that my app runs with a 1x1 pixel stage, because it doesn't display anything. So the user will never see that panel and the program will seem to hang.
What I want to do is to somehow detect that the user doesn't allow the Player to access local storage so that I can open a new window large enough to display that panel.
The only way I've been able to detect this so far is to try to call SharedObject.flush() and check the return value, but that displays the settings panel.

Nov 17, 2010I'm doing a small webapp where I want to use a fairly small amount of Local Storage for SharedObjects.The challenge is to cater to all visitors, including those that might have turned down their local storage allowance to 0 bytes (inactivated).Now, what happens is that the first flush method call triggers the local storage dialog box.In the case that the user has inactivated local storage, I don't want to ask them to raise it - instead I want to avoid using SharedObjects for the remainder of the session.I haven't found a way to test for the capacity of the local storage. What I can find is the size property of the SharedObject class. This doesn't work however as it only reports a size greater than 0 if there has already been an object written to this application domain.

Apr 2, 2012So I'm trying to copy a file selected by the user into the AIR application storage directory, but when I attempt to resolve the path in the storage directory, I get:
Error #3002: File or directory exists.
I get this even when there is no possible way that the file already exists (I am pretty sure there is no "qqqqq.txt" there).
My code looks like this:

The error is thrown on the line where I try to set the destination as the applicationStorageDirectory, but I have no idea why.
Edit: So I commented out everything below var destination:File = File.applicationStorageDirectory; and it STILL throws the error.

Mar 3, 2011I have basic movie clips, On roll over, show arrows [NEXT, PREVIOUS] on movie clip [they then show other images inside movie clips]I can show arrows on roll over.But when i roll over the arrows the main ROLLOUT function gets called, the arrows hide. I've tried several flagging methods and have resulted in using a larger invisible border around the clip, rolling over that hides them.

With this configuration, and once I have set the compiler properties in Eclipse for the compiler to use the Flash text engine for MX components, I can see the two labels of the Panel in the correct font and style ; but the Panel's title will not show up. Even if I add the "embedAsCff: false" line to my style .titleAssumed, the title refuses to show up.

Aug 12, 2011I wanted to change the background color of my Panel title area and I discovered that I needed to create custom skin or skin extender to accomplish this. So I created a skin called myPanelSkin based upon the Spark.PanelSkin. My background color works fine but it will no longer show the cornerRadius defined either on the component or in a styleI then tried another approach and simply created a new skin as an exact copy of the Spark.PanelSkin. It also looses the cornerRadius.

Apr 21, 2010I am trying to attach some of my actionscript class, inherited from Sprite, to my Flex application by attaching it to a UIComponent, then add UIComponent to a panel. However, the size of my Sprite class appears to be larger than the panel. So, I try to resize it using DisplayObject.scale property, but I need to know the size of my container. Since I try to make my code reusable, I figure that I should let my Sprite class handle the resize by getting it via its parent property (let's say, I can resize it by set
this.scaleX = this.parent.Width/this.width or something like this)
However, my Sprite class's parent, which is the UIComponent, has width/height of 0. So, my question is:
1) Is there any better way to resize DisplayObject class to fit its container when attached to Flex object?
2) If you know, why my UIComponent's size remain 0 and my DisplayObject still appears at its full size? Here's my code, using Flash Builder 4:

(Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.

Air is not only getting unsupported by Adobe in LINUX but besides, it has serious problems and miss implementation with SQLite. So we want to connect to a local MySQL database. This application should be simple, so we do not want to also have an unnecessary web server (also local) to make a middle communication between the flash app and the MySQL server. There is this driver that allow to communicate Flash with MySQL [URL] Question is: Would it be any problem using this approach when installing the whole application to each client? (because we also in the installation should install a MySQL server).

I don't get this error when I embed the XML file directly with the EMBED metadata tag.

So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?
