View 1 RepliesI want to use Google Analytics on my Vkontakte application (written with Flex). Vkontakte does not support naturally in Google Analytics (not as Facebook) which means I can't even put the Google Analytics JS at the bottom of the page (or even use JS for that matter). What I can use is the AS3 library of Google Analytics, but for some reason it reports of failed gif requests every time I use it to report on an event. Is it even possible to use Google Analytics on the described environment? If so, what could be the reason of the failed gif requests? Is it debugable?

View 1 RepliesI have a quite different problem with resizing. I have a Flexbook component which uses the middle part of screen (center) with a html header menu and footer. The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

We are using flex for same. (Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.

I'm writing a small application for myself and instead of using a database I'd like to just use Excel to store the small amount of data I have on my local file system. I want to be able to load that data without having to use the typical FileReference browse() method as it would just be annoying to do every time I use the application.
The code below seems to find the file fine as the file.exists method below and most of the other attributes seem to be correct but the file.data is always null.I'm guessing this is a security issue and that's why I'm running into this problem but I thought I'd ask and see if there is in fact a way around this problem.

I have made a application that plays videos that are stored in a assets folder of the air application but when ever I run it on an hp slate the videos are really choppy. Is there a way to preload the video or does it have to do with the processing power? the videos are 1.72mb or smaller. They are flv format and they auto play when that application is started. I am using flash builder.

Now I know how to say if it is local with the "file:///" but not with the direct path. How do I reference this in Actionscript?

I'm trying to test a custom Flex 4 skinnable component, using the FlexUnit UIImpersonator class. If I run my tests from a FlashBuilder Spark only project everything works fine. If I try to test from a project with the mx component set on the classpath I get a "getElementIndex not available in non Flex 4 projects" error.Can I unit test spark components in FlexUnits visual test environment while still having the mx component set on the classpath?
UIImpersonator delegates it's method calls to a "testEnvironment".The implementation used for this "testEnvironment" is decided by the VisualTest EnvironmentBuilder class and the FlexEnvironmentBuilder class. If the FlexEnvironmentBuilder class can find the "mx.core.Container" on the classpath it returns a MX environment, else a Spark environment. Only the spark environment has valid implementations for Flex 4 relevant method calls on the UIImpersonator - like the addElement method.

In FlexUnit 4, however, there's no base class for tests; the tests are identified by annotations. So, how can I replicate the getName() functionality in FlexUnit 4?

When I log into the console its shows the server and _defaultHost_ and Test but says You are not logged into:Test; make a seperate connection. Does this mean it wants a new application created for Test? How do I fix this?

I assume the application needs to download a file, based on the data loaded in that specific time we calculate the download speed. i am not sure about the upload and the ping.
I'm testing a full-screen Flash application. My preference is to drive the process with Java and I've had a lot of luck with the java.awt.Robot class. I'm looking for ways of modifying the test's behavior while the app still occupies the full screen. So far, I've found one "outside control", the caps lock key. If I see the process go horribly wrong, I turn on caps lock. Toolkit.getLockingKeyState notices that caps lock is on, and the test is terminated.
I need additional ways to change test operation, like "pause test" and "next test case." It looks like I could use num lock and scroll lock, but my tests need to run on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, so I can't count on having those keys. This is a small operation, so it's ok if the method isn't refined. But not as kludgy as overloading the caps lock key with 5 different operations. I have no internal control of the application; I'm supposed to "test" just like a user.
I would like to have a Flash Application (not air) to connect to a local database. Air is not only getting unsupported by Adobe in LINUX but besides, it has serious problems and miss implementation with SQLite. So we want to connect to a local MySQL database. This application should be simple, so we do not want to also have an unnecessary web server (also local) to make a middle communication between the flash app and the MySQL server. There is this driver that allow to communicate Flash with MySQL [URL] Question is: Would it be any problem using this approach when installing the whole application to each client? (because we also in the installation should install a MySQL server).

I don't get this error when I embed the XML file directly with the EMBED metadata tag.
I'd like my application to be pretty light so it loads quickly. So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?

I get a working application in Flash made that lets the user click to create blocks which subsequently gravitate towards the mouse. I made the exact same thing in Processing too, just to compare speeds.However, when I run the Flash version and add around 15-20 blocks, the framerate drops to 5-10 FPS.In the Processing version I can add ~60 with no noticeable slowdown. What's the deal, Flash?

I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

how can i delete storage directory instances or folder while uninstalling any air application. In my application when i first time run my application, application copy some data from application directory to application storage directory. now i want to delete all data and application directory folder also while uninstalling application.
I am doing that because when i launch any update then application is accessing old data which conflict with my application new features.
